Chapter 893: Dealing with the Dark Lord Requires No Morality
Chapter 893: Dealing with the Dark Lord Requires No Morality
In the evening, the Redskin Train slowly came to a halt with a clear whistle.
Ivan gathered his luggage and stepped off the train, gazing at the bustling Wizarding Station with a touch of nostalgia. He couldn't help but wonder how long this peace would last.
"Well, see you next year, Harry, Ron!" Ivan turned to the two and said.
"You too, be careful, Ivan", Harry replied absentmindedly, his eyes already drifting towards the station's outer circle, where Sirius Black was waving at him.
For the first time in five years, he felt genuinely happy about going home.
Ron was even more straightforward. After patting Ivan on the shoulder as a farewell, he joined George and Fred to find Mrs. Weasley.
Once the two left, Ivan looked at Hermione and then at Grangermaster, who was squeezing through the crowd. "Should I go explain things to Grangermaster, Hermione?"
"No, I can handle it myself!" The young witch blushed and shook her head hastily.
"Then I'll wait for three days. If I don't hear from you, I'll come looking for you", Ivan said with a smile.
Hermione rolled her eyes. Three days was too short. She had planned to spend at least a week gradually testing her parents' reactions and then trying to persuade them.
"Three days at most. In fact, for safety, it's best if you convince them tonight", Ivan said seriously.
Hermione hesitated for a moment before replying softly, "Alright, where should we meet you? Knockturn Alley?"
"No, just in London! I've bought a new residence here. I'll write to you tonight with the details", Ivan explained.
With Voldemort dead, there was no need for him to hide anymore. More importantly, Ivan felt it was unfair to have the Grangers stay in the dark and dank bunker in Knockturn Alley. So, a few days ago, he had asked Pierce to find a suitable residence for him in Britain, and it should be ready by now.
"Alright, then." Hermione stepped forward and hugged Ivan reluctantly. After parting, she ran to Grangermaster, whispered a few words in his ear, and dragged him away without giving the two a chance to meet, fearing that Ivan might say something strange to her father.
Ivan watched Hermione hurriedly pull Grangermaster away, shaking his head with a smile. Even if they didn't meet now, they would eventually have to face each other in a few days.
The delay meant that most of the young wizards at King's Cross Station had already been picked up by their parents, and the crowd had thinned considerably.
Ivan glanced around and quickly spotted a familiar figure in the crowd. Nodding to the person, Ivan adjusted his Wizard Robes, picked up his trunk, and headed towards the station's main gate. The figure soon followed.
"Any news on Grindelwald?" Ivan asked abruptly as he walked down a secluded alley after leaving the station.
"Temporarily... no, but the International Confederation of Wizards has dispatched a large number of people to search for him. It shouldn't be long now", Pierce said sheepishly.
Ivan wasn't too concerned. Grindelwald's cunning was evident from his surprise attack on Hogwarts, and with an Invisibility Cloak, the chances of catching him were slim.
He instructed Pierce to keep a constant watch on North America, just to ensure he would be the first to know if Grindelwald were to cause trouble.
Ivan had a premonition that the other side wouldn't remain quiet for long, or perhaps was secretly plotting something significant.
Even though Ivan had previously faced Grindelwald in Nurmengard and had the upper hand, he didn't dare underestimate this renowned Dark Lord.
After all, during that battle, Grindelwald's body could be described as being on its last legs, having already fought Voldemort beforehand. It was hard to say how much strength he had left when facing Ivan.
The next confrontation with Grindelwald would likely be far more challenging. If Ivan's suspicions were correct, Grindelwald had probably already rid himself of the Dark Magic that plagued him and, like Voldemort last year, had obtained a young and vibrant body!
Not to mention the Elder Wand and the Invisibility Cloak...
Ivan felt a chill run down his spine. He really couldn't gauge Grindelwald's current strength. Even the Elder Wand alone could increase his chances of victory by thirty percent.
Thinking about this, Ivan couldn't help but feel a toothache, with an impulse to storm into the Headmaster's Office and berate Dumbledore's portrait.
To solve the problem of one Voldemort, only to release a more dangerous Grindelwald and gift him two Deathly Hallows, leaving the mess for Ivan to clean up.
If Dumbledore had trusted him more and shared the entire plan, allowing Ivan to be the primary attacker and work with Snape to take down Voldemort, Grindelwald wouldn't have been an issue.
Ivan thought resentfully, even considering whether to brew a potion to pull Dumbledore out of the afterlife and let him deal with Grindelwald himself.
After all, fifty years ago, Dumbledore had defeated Grindelwald, who held the Elder Wand. Surely, he could do it again.
If Dumbledore couldn't handle it alone, they could fight together; there was no need to adhere to any principles when dealing with a Dark Lord.
However, after careful consideration, Ivan abandoned this tempting idea. He was somewhat worried that Dumbledore, upon resurrection, would come after him first...
While Ivan was lost in these thoughts, Pierce was enthusiastically recounting the changes in the Ministry of Magic over the past few months.
After a year of cleanup, all the troublemakers had been removed, and key departments were now staffed with his own people.
Most importantly, after absorbing many wizards from Knockturn Alley, the number of Aurors and Beaters had doubled to nearly four hundred, and the training intensity was no less than before. Each Auror had to follow Ivan's orders for round-the-clock military training.
In essence, the entire British wizarding world was on high alert, fully prepared for the potential war that might come!
Hearing this, Ivan's tense expression eased slightly. At least for now, his forces held the advantage over Grindelwald.
Four hundred might not sound like a lot, but these were all elite wizards!
If they worked together to cast the Muggle-Repelling Charm, they could make all of London's Muggles disappear without a trace!
