Chapter 891: Creating a New Era
Chapter 891: Creating a New Era
"You did well, Alison!" Grindelwald strode up to the Witch, gripping her severed arm and pressing his wand against the bleeding stump.
A bright white light flashed, and Alison's trembling ceased. The excruciating pain gradually faded, replaced by a tingling, soothing sensation.
When the white light finally dissipated, Alison was astonished to find that her left hand had regrown, and it seemed even stronger than before.
"Thank you, Master Grindelwald..." Alison touched her newly regrown left arm, her voice filled with joy.
Although Grindelwald had promised to regrow her arm, the concept of limb regeneration was something she had never even heard of, so she had harbored some doubts.
"No, Alison, I should be the one thanking you!" Grindelwald's lips curved into a smile as he reached out to gently caress the Witch's cheek. "Your bravery exceeded my expectations!"
Alison's face turned bright red. Grindelwald's words seemed to carry a magical quality, turning a simple compliment into something that stirred her heart, making her unable to contain her excitement.
When his slender fingers traced her neck, Alison felt her entire body shudder. Then, a cold object was hung around her neck.
Alison looked down and saw a triangular pendant. Inside the pendant was a circle with a vertical line through the center, resembling a peculiar, divided eye.
"This is the true reward, and I permit you to wear it!" Grindelwald said slowly.
Alison had witnessed the resurrection ritual moments ago and understood that this pendant contained a part of Grindelwald's soul. Wearing it meant being constantly connected to him, an immense honor!
"I swear, I will protect it with my life!" Alison clutched the pendant tightly, her voice fervent.
Grindelwald nodded and then turned to the male witch bound to the pillar, speaking casually. "Do you have any last words, Farrell?"
"You won't succeed, Grindelwald! Fifty years ago, we shattered your plans, and this time will be no different!" Farrell spat, his heart sinking as he saw Grindelwald rise from the flames. He knew he was doomed.
However, he refused to die meaninglessly and had to find a way to inform the North American Congress of Magic about Grindelwald's resurrection and the creation of Horcruxes...
With this in mind, Farrell continued his rant, while secretly using his still-sharp nails to carve the words "Horcrux", "pendant", and other details into the pillar behind him, hoping the sound of his voice would mask his actions.
Even if someone from the North American Congress of Magic could use magic to reconstruct the magical image from the traces left behind, who knew how long it would take for them to find him? By then, the casting marks might already be gone, but the information he left behind could still prove useful.
Farrell was deep in thought, but before he could finish his inscription, Grindelwald's indifferent voice cut through the air.
"I didn't expect that after more than fifty years, you would still be so naive, Farrell!"
“I thought you would remember not to try such underhanded tactics in front of me…” Grindelwald’s heterochromatic eyes glinted with a deep blue Lumos.
Farrell’s face changed, and he suddenly remembered a piece of unverified intelligence in Grindelwald’s file—Grindelwald, skilled in Dark Magic, was also likely an excellent Legilimens…
It was all over!
Realizing this, Farrell’s face turned pale, and Grindelwald, standing opposite him, raised his wand. A chilling flame ignited around him and quickly enveloped Farrell, the searing tongues of fire consuming him in an instant.
A piercing scream echoed through the empty room, cutting off abruptly after just a few seconds…
The once ruthless Fiendfyre, now under Grindelwald’s control, obeyed his every command. After devouring Farrell and the stone pillars, it extinguished itself, dissipating into the air.
“Let’s go, Alison. We’re going to create a new world… a world for Wizards!” Grindelwald slowly lowered his wand and spoke calmly.
…
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. As the holiday approached, the castle became increasingly lively, and the shadow of the attack from a week ago gradually faded, overwhelmed by the joy of the upcoming break.
Of course, on the day of the departure, the exam results were also released.
For Ivan, there was nothing to worry about; he passed both his O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s with perfect scores.
Hermione was not to be outdone. Though she didn’t skip a grade like Ivan, she also achieved perfect scores in all twelve subjects.
Harry’s results were somewhat less impressive, but he was quite satisfied. Out of the nine required subjects, he managed to get five E’s (Exceeds Expectations) and even achieved O’s (Outstanding) in Care of Magical Creatures and Defense Against the Dark Arts.
In comparison, Ron fared much worse. Despite a week of intense studying, he only managed four E’s (Exceeds Expectations) and no O’s (Outstanding).
His only hope for an O in Care of Magical Creatures was dashed when he confused the habits of Thestrals, earning him a bare pass.
Even with Hagrid’s efforts to cover for him, the examiner’s decision could not be changed.
“At least I passed…” Ron stared at his results, finding some comfort in seeing that he had reached the passing line in the notoriously difficult Divination class.
As long as he didn’t compare himself to Ivan and Hermione, his results were still respectable, placing him in the upper-middle range among the fifth-year students.
Seeing Harry and Ron easily content with their achievements, Ivan couldn’t help but shake his head. The coming years in the Wizarding World would be unpredictable, and just being above average wouldn’t be enough to ensure their safety.
“Enjoy your summer break. Next year won’t be as easy,” Ivan patted their shoulders, speaking with a sense of gravity.
“Huh?” Harry and Ron looked at Ivan, a sense of unease suddenly rising in their hearts.
(P.S.: In the original story, O.W.L. results are released two weeks into the summer, but since the exams are rarely mentioned afterward, I’ve included the results here at the end of the term for a small change.)
