Chapter 89: Platform
Chapter 89: Platform
Thinking of this, Ivan's mind shifted, and his gaze towards Scabbers was filled with a hint of fervor.
After all, the risk of Animagus Transformation is extremely high. Over the years, countless talented Wizards have failed at this, which is why only seven Animagi have ever been registered in the Magical world.
Even if you include those who have hidden their transformations and not registered, there wouldn't be more than thirty.
This shows just how difficult the transformation is!
Before that, if he could analyze the body of an Animagus, it might significantly reduce the risk of transformation.
Following Ivan's gaze, everyone's attention also focused on Scabbers.
The gray-black Rat was currently being held down on the table by Ron, trembling under the scrutiny of three pairs of eyes, with tears welling up in its eyes.
He couldn't understand what had happened to Hogwarts School over the years. Even first-year Wizards were so brutal.
"Ron, I'll help you. I haven't used the Stunning Spell yet", Hermione felt sorry for it and decided to knock it out first to spare Ron's experiment from causing too much pain.
However, Scabbers didn't dare let these brutal young Wizards touch him again. Driven by a strong desire to survive, he acted like a drama queen. After witnessing the gruesome death of his fellow Rat, he let out a scream, rolled his eyes, kicked his legs, and lay motionless on the table, looking as if he were about to die.
Ron hesitated, not daring to try. After all, Scabbers was his pet, and if he accidentally killed it like Harry did, his mother wouldn't buy him another one.
Scabbers, who was pretending to be dead, breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Ron's words. But the next moment, a beam of light flashed, and Scabbers promptly fell into a deep unconsciousness.
"Ivan, since Scabbers is like this, maybe we should just give up", Ron furrowed his brow and asked hesitantly.
"I'm not Harry; I won't hurt Scabbers", Ivan reassured him, then continued.
"If anything really goes wrong, I'll buy you a new one, whether it's an Owl, a Rat, a Toad, or a cat."
"This is very important for the Transfiguration I need to practice!" Ivan said, looking at Ron.
Ron looked at the limp, black, and ugly Scabbers in his hand, then thought about the new pets in the pet store. He quickly made his decision.
"Alright, if it helps you", Ron placed Scabbers on the table.
"Of course, I promise he'll be alive", Ivan smiled, not surprised by Ron's decision.
The reason Ron cared so much about Scabbers was simply because it was one of the few things he owned on his own.
Even though this pet was given to him by his brothers when they no longer wanted it.
Taking the unconscious Scabbers, Ivan carefully used his wand to press against its head, inputting a tiny amount of Magic to probe. He found that Scabbers' internal structure was no different from the other Rats he had analyzed.
If Ivan hadn't seen that Scabbers was missing a claw, he wouldn't have been able to confirm that this was Peter Pettigrew.
It seemed the Magic of Animagi was far more wondrous than he had imagined.
Ivan's interest was piqued, and he increased the output of Magic, carefully examining every cell in Scabbers' body. When the Magic reached Scabbers' head, Ivan detected a barely perceptible difference.
It seemed to be protected by some force. Ivan hesitated for a moment and didn't dare to continue.
Because he was uncertain what would happen if he used his Magic to analyze Scabbers' brain. If he accidentally reversed the Animagus Transformation and awakened Peter Pettigrew, the others in the compartment would be in danger.
In fact, Ivan had thought about using the Marauder's Map to expose Peter while at school, to eliminate this threat.
But after careful consideration, he dismissed the idea.
The officials at the Ministry of Magic likely wouldn't want to admit their incompetence in imprisoning a hero who resisted the Death Eaters in Azkaban for over a decade.
So, it was better to wait until everyone involved was present and then hand the matter over to Dumbledore for handling.
*Beep, your Transfiguration spell proficiency has improved after practice.*
The system notification sounded, and Ivan handed Scabbers back to Ron without any hesitation. Although he hadn't truly uncovered the secrets of the Animagus, Ivan understood that the brain was likely the most critical and dangerous part of the transformation process.
That was enough.
*Whoo*
With a clear rumble, the red steam engine puffed out thick smoke and slowly came to a stop at the platform.
Ivan packed his luggage and placed the dead Rat on the table into Maca's cage, providing it with a hearty meal.
Completely clean and pollution-free.
At that moment, Scabbers, who had just woken up and was curled up in Ron's pocket, shuddered upon seeing this scene.
Outside the compartment, the young Wizards lined up to disembark, but without the guidance of the Professors, the process quickly became chaotic as the doors opened. Someone accidentally knocked over a cage containing a Toad, and the Toad escaped, possibly to be stepped on.
Ivan was pushed forward by the crowd, while in his mind, he was rehearsing the first meeting with his family. What would he say? How should he behave?
In his memory, his mother Aisha had always been very affectionate, even to the point of being overly indulgent.
As a substitute, Ivan was worried if his acting skills would pass muster. He couldn't fake the deep longing of a long-separated reunion.
Fortunately, the original body seemed to have some aversion to Aisha's indulgent behavior, often leading to disagreements. He just needed to get the balance right.
"Ivan, hurry up, why do you look so distracted?" Harry struggled with his large suitcase, jumped off the train, and then turned to look at Ivan, who was standing still.
"Nothing, just a bit excited about going home", Ivan heard the urging from the young Wizards behind him, shook his head, and quickly followed.
The group walked through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, and Ivan experienced the thrill of passing through the wall, which felt a bit like going through the secret passage on the fourth floor.
At the London train station, compared to the other side of the wall, everything was filled with a modern atmosphere. The smooth tiled floor, the bright waiting hall, and the occasional train whistle in the distance gave Ivan a sense of familiarity.
After spending so much time at Hogwarts, he often felt like he was living in the Middle Ages.
Perhaps because it was also the peak time for Muggles to wait for their trains, the station was somewhat crowded. Among the well-dressed Muggle pedestrians, many parents of the young Wizards were mixed in, mostly dressed in Muggle clothes. Even a few exceptions didn't detract from the overall scene.
