Chapter 888: Ivan: Whose Sick Imagination Came Up with This?
Just as Ivan was thinking, a System Notification suddenly rang in his mind.
[Ding, New Quest Generated!]
Ivan paused for a moment, then opened the Quest list to check it.
[Quest Objective: Dominate the Magic World
Quest Progress: 2%
Quest Reward: 5 Legend Points
Quest Description: After initially stabilizing your power in Britain, you eagerly cast your gaze further afield.
To extend your influence to every corner of the world, you cunningly released the aging Grindelwald, allowing him to wreak havoc in the Wizarding World—the smoke of war rising over the continent will be your best capital for advancement!
Note: You believe the International Confederation of Wizards cannot handle this problem and will soon come begging for your help...]
Seeing the newly generated Quest, Ivan's lips twitched involuntarily.
Whose sick imagination came up with this?
Cornell? Or those Aurors from the International Confederation of Wizards?
Unlikely...
After considering all possibilities, Ivan's gaze finally settled on Pierce, his expression turning dark.
Pierce, feeling the weight of Ivan's scrutinizing gaze, grew uneasy, wondering if he had done something wrong. However, after much thought, he found no clue and could only attribute Ivan's sudden mood to his mercurial and brutal nature...
Ivan barely suppressed the urge to replace the Minister of Magic and said irritably, "The Vice President of the North American Magical Congress, Farrell, has been captured... by Grindelwald!"
Pierce was taken aback by the sudden news and asked hesitantly, "When did this happen?"
"Just two days ago..." Ivan paused, then looked at Pierce with obvious dissatisfaction. "An event of this magnitude—didn't the Ministry of Magic receive any information about it?"
Pierce gave a sheepish smile. He had only taken over the British Ministry of Magic a few months ago, and his ascension had been more of a coup. He had a myriad of issues to deal with, including the need to clean up the entire intelligence apparatus, so he hadn't had the time or inclination to monitor events in North America.
"They must have rushed to Britain for a reason..." Pierce muttered to himself.
However, Ivan's quick access to this information surprised Pierce. Could it be that Ivan had some informants in North America?
Ivan didn't intend to explain that he had obtained the information directly from Cornell's mind. Instead, he changed the subject. "How much do you know about this Farrell? Grindelwald wouldn't do anything without a reason. If he chose to risk an attack on the Congress Building in his weakened state just to capture him, this person must be very important!"
"Farrell?" Pierce pondered for a moment. The name was somewhat familiar. "If I'm not mistaken, this Vice President Master was one of the heroes of the Wizarding War over fifty years ago!"
"Is that so?" Ivan stroked his chin, then said, "So he's an enemy of Grindelwald?"
"Of course!" Pierce nodded, not quite understanding why Ivan was asking such an obvious question.
After receiving Pierce's confirmation, Ivan's expression suddenly turned grim. After a long pause, he said gravely, "I'm afraid we might have to face Gellert Grindelwald at the height of his power!"
...
Meanwhile, in a certain part of Nordic, Farrell, who had been unconscious for a long time, was gradually awakened by a strange noise. He opened his eyes in confusion and looked around, only to find himself in an old, abandoned house.
The place looked like it had been deserted for a long time. The walls were pitted and cracked, the white wallpaper was peeling off, and there was a large hole in the roof, through which the afternoon sunlight was streaming in...
But Farrell felt no warmth, for he was bound to a round pillar, his limbs limp and weak, struggling even to move an inch.
He was in a position not unlike that of a prisoner awaiting execution...
What made Farrell's skin crawl even more was the large cauldron placed in the spacious living room, big enough to fit an adult inside. The cauldron was now filled with a murky liquid, bubbling and emitting a blue spark from time to time, accompanied by a series of popping sounds.
Farrell swallowed hard. At his advanced age of a hundred, he was not afraid of death. However, as a wizard who had dedicated his early years to fighting Dark Magic, Farrell knew all too well that some Dark Wizards' methods were even more terrifying than death itself!
Crack...
Suddenly, the sound of a door opening came from behind. Farrell quickly lowered his head and closed his eyes, pretending to still be unconscious. When the footsteps passed by, he cautiously opened his eyes a crack.
Through his blurred vision, he saw a witch in her early twenties approach the giant cauldron, dropping various potion ingredients into the boiling liquid. Wisps of white steam soon rose from the cauldron.
Farrell quietly observed her every move, trying to guess her identity.
Grindelwald had just escaped and orchestrated an attack on him. Logically, he shouldn't have had the time to develop followers. Therefore, this witch was likely either deceived by Grindelwald or coerced into performing some dark rituals.
Thinking this, Farrell hesitated about whether to try talking to her while Grindelwald was away. It might be his only chance to escape. Anything was better than being tied up here, waiting to die.
"Are all the ingredients ready, Alison?"
Just as Farrell was about to speak, a voice echoed through the room. Farrell's body trembled, and cold sweat soaked his back—this was Grindelwald's voice!
He almost exposed himself! Farrell felt a chill of fear, but he couldn't resist the curiosity. He slightly opened his eyes and looked in the direction of the voice.
Gellert Grindelwald was taking off a silver-gray cloak that looked like liquid, his previously transparent body reappearing. He quickly walked towards the cauldron, followed by a middle-aged man of about fifty.
What caught Farrell's attention was that the man's eyes were lifeless, as if he were in a daze, likely under some form of control magic.
Based on Farrell's experience, this man was not a wizard, but a Muggle!
(P.S.: Muggle is the term for Muggles, ordinary people who cannot cast spells, just with different names in different places.)
