Chapter 884: Finally Caught
Chapter 884: Finally Caught
Damn it, I'm good at being a Superman... What the hell kind of name is that?
As he watched the new badge taking shape in the panel, Lyon's mouth twitched involuntarily. He propped himself up against the half-collapsed Lingering Mountain and prepared to use the remaining strength to thoroughly destroy this place, even pushing the remaining half of the mountain into the Terminus Cliff.
However, after several violent collisions, the surrounding dead souls were blown away by the shockwaves, and with the continuous absorption of the black and white stones released by the Faceless One, the number of dead souls Lyon had brought with him had decreased to less than half of the original amount.
Losing these power banks, Lyon's once towering divine body began to uncontrollably shrink rapidly. In the blink of an eye, he had shrunk by more than half, and his power dropped from the Pillar God level to that of a "Powerful True God."
Just as his power slipped from the Pillar God level, Lyon, who had been moving freely, suddenly felt a stagnation in his body. For the first time, he felt the influence of the Lingering Mountain, and his entire soul began to become hazy and ignorant.
Finally caught!
From the moment Lyon slapped and killed the Carnivorous Doe, the Patrolwoman had been manipulating the rules of Lingering Mountain, trying to influence his soul, but each time, the surging Heart Lake and Fear ability pushed back.
Seeing that she had finally succeeded in capturing Lyon's soul, the Patrolwoman, covered in cracks, flew out from the Lingering Mountain. She raised her hands towards the equally cracked Lyon above and clenched her teeth, gritting her teeth with all her might!
"Stop right there!" she shouted hoarsely.
As the Patrolwoman's voice reached its limit, Lyon, who was still destroying the mountain, couldn't help but stagger slightly. Then, like being sealed within a glass, he became a blurred shadow, and some things more important than his body were also terribly affected.
Memories, emotions, thoughts, and perceptions...
Countless intangible and immaterial elements that constituted Lyon as a human being were being crazily eroded by the rules of Lingering Mountain and continuously drawn out from the depths of his soul.
As those clear and profound memories were quickly shrouded in a layer of gloomy haze, Lyon couldn't even be sure of his original facial features, and the contours of his face began to blur.
It's done!
Watching as Lyon's face became less distinct, the Food God, whose eyes were filled with determination and ruthlessness, now looked dazed. The Faceless One, whose main body had left the range of Lingering Mountain, couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the 'Food God Rebellion' should be coming to an end.
As the last stop before the Terminus Cliff, the Lingering Mountain's soul purification ability was the strongest in the entire Netherworld. Even True Gods, when bound by the rules of Lingering Mountain, would have their selves washed away in endless wandering, becoming blank slates.
Once the Patrolwoman captured a fragment of the Food God's soul, she could even extend this purification rule to his main body, erasing all his memories and thoughts, turning him into an empty shell devoid of knowledge and consciousness.
"Food God!"
Seeing Lyon unconsciously stopping his actions, successfully captured by her, the Patrolwoman couldn't help but grit her teeth and growl. Filled with hatred and anger, she flew towards Lyon, who looked bewildered.
Due to the Food God's powerful kick, the entire peak of Lingering Mountain had been completely shattered, reducing its volume by almost a quarter. Adding the previous life-or-death smashes, her Lingering Mountain had already collapsed by more than half.
And to make matters worse, with the collapse of the mountain, not only did the high-quality souls carefully sealed at the peak get kicked away by the God of Food, but even the relatively ordinary souls below the mountain's waist, known as the Lingering Mountain souls, were uncontrollably leaking out.
Given the current state of damage to Lingering Mountain, it would take at least a century or two to fully repair it. But at the current rate of soul loss, it's estimated that within three to five years, all souls within the mountain will be completely gone, leaving none behind!
In just one kick, the God of Food had wiped out ninety-nine percent of the wealth accumulated over thousands of years. Compared to those high-quality souls, the essence of humanity, even if she could capture the God of Food's soul and tear it to pieces, it wouldn't make up for a fraction of her loss!
Additionally, she would need to repair the damaged Lingering Mountain, a process that would consume a significant amount of her own origin power and take a century to complete. Despite her current strength, her future was destined to decline from the Pillar God level.
Judging by the extent of the damage to Lingering Mountain, she feared she would lose her current position and fall from being one of the strongest overlords in the Netherworld to a third-rate existence, similar to the watchdog that the God of Food had devoured, in the first half of the No Return Path.
It's all gone... all gone... nothing left!!!
After a quick assessment of her losses, the female patrol officer who had been standing opposite Lyon's forehead began to tremble violently.
With a wave of her hand, she split open the giant Lyon's forehead, revealing a soul embedded within like a 'driver.' Staring at the bewildered face before her, the patrol officer's anger was almost volcanic, ready to erupt and turn this damned fool into ashes!
I'm going to kill him... I'm going to kill him!!!
"Wait!"
At that moment, the Faceless One at the foot of the mountain, busy dealing with the dead, seemed to notice the patrol officer's intention and quickly materialized, crying out:
"No!"
No amount of persuasion would work today!
The Faceless One wanted her to spare the God of Food's life, take his soul fragments, and negotiate with the Purification Bureau, or even set up a trap to gain greater advantages.
But the patrol officer, having lost almost everything, was no longer concerned about the interests of the entire Netherworld. All she wanted now was to tear the God of Food, who had destroyed her life, into a million pieces and then wash him away, following the trail of his soul fragments, until he became a mindless wanderer in Lingering Mountain, just like the souls of the purifiers!
With a sense of vengeful satisfaction, the patrol officer reached out towards the bewildered Lyon, grabbed him from within the massive shell formed by the Heart Lake and Fear, and violently pulled him out, clutching his throat...
"It wasn't easy."
A calm voice of admiration drifted into her soul, accompanied by the tremors of her heart.
To the patrol officer's sudden look of terror, the 'bewildered Lyon' she held vanished, and a hand, only a quarter the size of a normal person's, emerged from her chest, gently pressing on her second rib.
In the fearful gaze of the three Netherworld overlords, a miniature Lyon, one-fourth the size of the original, emerged from her chest, gripping her second and fifth ribs with his hands. With some effort, he pulled out his upper body and smiled, saying:
"Your Heart Lake... has begun to stir."
