Chapter 880: Rescue
Chapter 880: Rescue
On the Duel Academy Island, within the forest's wilderness, the night was dark and the wind howled, creating the perfect setting for a clandestine operation.
A group of Black Scorpion bandits, led by Zeek, navigated through the bushes and tall grass in the woods.
"Hey, why did they build this school on an island?" Zeek muttered as he walked, constantly glancing around.
"It's so eerie and scary," Mina scoffed, giving him a disdainful look. "You're supposed to be one of us, a member of the Black Scorpion Bandits, and yet you're acting so cowardly. You're embarrassing the gang."
Clive adjusted his glasses and narrowed his eyes at Mina, "Mina, there's a snake right by your feet."
Mina's face paled, and she instinctively jumped back, letting out a shriek, "Ahhh!"
Zeek, unfazed, retorted, "You're a Spirit, and you're still afraid of snakes? You're not any braver than me."
"Shut up!" Mina snapped.
The burly Goro rubbed his stomach, his gaze distant as if he were already daydreaming, "I'm hungry..."
Finally, the leader of the group, Zarug, stepped forward with an exasperated sigh, "Listen, we're professionals! Can you all act like it? Our boss has been recruiting more and more powerful members. If we keep acting like amateurs, we'll soon lose our place in the gang!"
The noisy group of bandits immediately fell silent.
Hmm, that did sound like a problem.
In fact, they had already been feeling the pressure mounting. Torikage Yuxuan's Spirits were continuously improving, and more heavyweights were joining his ranks. The bandits, caught in the middle, often felt like insignificant minnows.
"Wait a moment," Clive suddenly spoke up.
Zarug, impatient, replied, "What now? I've already said..."
"No, boss. I think I've sensed something." Clive's glasses reflected a chilling light, "There's someone else's presence here."
The bandits tensed up.
"I don't sense anything," Mina whispered. However, her senses were not as sharp as Clive's.
"Is it the Spirit we're looking for? Should we... inform the boss?"
"No, I don't think so," Clive said softly. "It's a living person's presence, not a Spirit."
The bandits exchanged puzzled looks upon hearing this.
They were currently searching in the Academy's Restricted Area, not far from the abandoned dormitory. Normally, no one should be present in this area.
Another intruder?
Lately, the Academy had been dealing with numerous intruders. Since they were already there, they didn't mind taking care of this one on behalf of their boss.
After taking a few steps in that direction, they heard a loud "Ah!" from among them. Startled, they turned around to see that the cry had come from Zeek.
Zeek had unknowingly stepped on something, and his ankle was bound by an energy bind, pulling him into a trap that suspended him upside down in mid-air. A capsule-like object suddenly exploded, enclosing Zeek within.
The bandits were shocked.
"A trap?!"
"This is human technology!" Clive said in a deep voice.
Zeek struggled inside the capsule, "Human technology? But that's impossible, this..."
The capsule suddenly discharged electricity, causing him to scream in pain.
"Zeek!"
As the group was startled, a question arose in their minds.
Could human technology actually harm a Spirit?
Before they could recover from their astonishment, footsteps echoed from the forest ahead.
A dark figure emerged, walking slowly.
Within a day, rumors spread.
It was said that Professor Cobra from another school and the Duel King of the Academy had clashed over educational ideologies. The two had a heated argument and decided to settle their dispute with a duel. The result was that the Cloaked Master had sent the arrogant outsider Professor straight to the ICU, and he still hadn't regained consciousness.
People these days love spreading rumors.
Torikage Yuxuan shook his head repeatedly in his own laboratory, expressing his indignation at the current state of the world.
"Spreading all sorts of false rumors, ruining other people's reputations."
It was as if he was some kind of unforgivable demon, a dictatorial tyrant in the Academy, using dueling to silence all opposition.
Sanzawa and Asuka stood by, watching as Torikage complained while fiddling with a deck that seemed to have been taken from Professor Cobra's Duel Disk. They exchanged glances.
They both thought to themselves that it wasn't very convincing for him to be holding the spoils of war and saying such things.
It was true that Professor Cobra had been admitted to the ICU. But Torikage insisted that he had done absolutely nothing this time.
It was true that they had engaged in a Dark Duel, but it was Professor Cobra who had initiated it. Torikage had never used his power to inflict real damage, and in the end, it wasn't him who had dealt the final blow; it was Yubel.

Ever since Professor Cobra discovered Yubel, who had fallen back to Earth from outer space, he had essentially become Yubel's slave. When he lost his usefulness, he went from being a puppet to becoming Yubel's food.
Yubel had the ability to awaken the darkness in people's hearts, and she liked to cultivate and nurture that darkness until it became significant enough before consuming it, thereby restoring her power.
In the original story, she nurtured and guided Amen to the other world in search of her king for the same purpose. But that time, Yubel played a bit too much, almost losing control, and was nearly defeated by Amen when he gathered the Exodia cards.
Torikage was indeed browsing through Professor Cobra's deck.
To be fair, Professor Cobra's Viper Venom deck was indeed a bit weak. To be more precise, the problem lay with the entire Reptilian Race.
The fact that the Reptilian Race had a card like "Snake Rain," which was clearly a powerful support, yet they were still half-dead, was already quite convincing.
However, although the deck was not impressive, the strength of Professor Cobra's boss monster was undeniable.
Toxic Serpent Deity Vinomagnia.
"In any case, I've gained a formidable card this time."
The noblewoman, holding a parasol, laughed beside him.
"It seems our team is about to gain another powerful member."
"Yes, full resistance, high attack, and a rule win," Torikage nodded, "If not for the overly strict summoning difficulty, it's indeed an almost invincible card."
At that moment, a faint cry emanated from the deck, and a transparent flame flickered, seemingly expressing dissatisfaction.
It was the Lava Demon God Tamashi, who was usually peeking at the screen.
Torikage laughed, "Of course, it's still no match for my Tamashi Lava Demon God. Full resistance isn't that impressive."
The flame extinguished, seemingly satisfied after receiving affirmation.
Although the Toxic Serpent Deity was challenging to control, Torikage suddenly thought of a few possible builds that might work in actual duels. After all, aside from being devoured by the Lava Demon God, this card, when summoned, exerted considerable pressure.
"Hmm?"
He sensed something and drew a deck from his card box at his waist, pulling out a few cards of the Black Scorpion Bandits.
Although these individuals had gone out on a mission, their main cards remained in Torikage's possession. This was to prevent any unexpected situations and to allow Torikage to communicate with them remotely through the cards.
"What is it? Did you find something?" Torikage asked.
"Boss!"
Zeek's cards began to tremble first, and he shouted incoherently.
"Save! Save! Save!"
