Chapter 88: Upgrading the Strange Panel (First Update)
Chapter 88: Upgrading the Strange Panel (First Update)
"By the way, do you have any Magic books that explain the Disguise Charm?"
After Jerry stuffed a pile of Magic books into the suitcase the store clerk had given him, he asked with some anticipation.
He had just taken a quick look around but hadn't found any books specifically about the Disguise Charm in the bookstore.
The Disguise Charm is essentially an invisibility spell, a high-level spell that is documented in the Hogwarts textbooks. However, like Apparition, it is extremely difficult, and even senior young wizards might not master it before graduation.
So, finding a Magic book specifically dedicated to the Disguise Charm would be very helpful for learning it. Once Jerry had the Disguise Charm, his activities in the Main World would be much easier.
"There is one, but it's a bit of a hassle!"
The clerk's face showed a hint of hesitation upon hearing Jerry's question.
"Tell me more."
Jerry asked, puzzled.
The clerk beckoned to Jerry.
"Sir, you can come with me and take a look."
A moment later, on the second floor of Flourish and Blotts, Jerry looked at a row of empty bookshelves and gave the clerk a questioning glance.
The clerk pointed at the shelves and said helplessly, "A few years ago, the Disguise Charm was very popular among your Hogwarts young wizards, so our boss spent a lot of money to order two hundred copies of 'The Invisibility Book of Invisibility.'
As you can see, they all became invisible on the shelves!"
"Um..."
Jerry, speechless, reached out and felt the shelves, indeed touching the invisible Magic books. When he tried to pull one out and open it, he found that he still couldn't see anything, as every page was invisible.
"Is there no good solution?"
Jerry was still very serious about the Disguise Charm.
The clerk scratched his head. "It's not completely hopeless, but it's more like a temporary fix that won't help much."
"Tell me more."
Jerry continued to ask.
The clerk shrugged. "Actually, a regular Revelio Spell can reveal them, but it will only last for less than twenty seconds before they become invisible again. You'd have to keep using the Revelio Spell non-stop, and no one would want to use it thousands of times just to read a book.
So, for years, not a single one has been sold!"
"Alright, I understand. I'll take this one."
Jerry, upon hearing this, took the invisible Magic book and headed downstairs.
An ordinary wizard might have to use the Revelio Spell thousands of times to read the book, but Jerry didn't need to. With Little Red Star's brain booster, he could memorize everything in the book at a glance, and then review it at his leisure.
Even if he had to use the Revelio Spell thousands of times, he wouldn't give up. Given the importance of the Disguise Charm to him, it was worth the time to learn it in advance.
After leaving Flourish and Blotts, Jerry went to the antique shops in Diagon Alley to see if he could find any second-hand Magic books or notes that Flourish and Blotts didn't have.
Thus, Jerry spent his days either studying Magic or brewing potions in his Box World, or searching for useful Magic books, potions, or Magic items in Diagon Alley.
His thousand or so gold galleons flowed out like water, and by the end, he had less than thirty left.
This was largely thanks to him selling the low-level potions he had brewed at the potion shop, earning a bit of gold galleons to subsidize his expenses. Otherwise, he wouldn't have saved even thirty gold galleons.
Even though Jerry was only in his first year, his diligent study of potions and frequent consultations with the potion master, Snape, as well as his exchanges with the potion prodigy, Hermione, had significantly improved his potion-making skills.
His potion level was far better than that of the average fourth or fifth-year young wizard.
Especially with the help of the mind enhancer, he rarely failed when brewing potions, which saved him a lot of unnecessary costs. This allowed him to earn a small profit to help with his living expenses.
December 24th, Christmas Eve,
After sending the Christmas gifts he had prepared in advance through the Diagon Alley post office to Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco Malfoy, Daphne, and all his classmates, including all the professors he knew, Jerry returned to his room at the Leaky Cauldron. Holding a Box in one hand and his Wand in the other, he began to wait quietly for his return.
As a Chinese adult who had worked for many years, Jerry certainly wouldn't just give gifts to Hermione and a few others on such an important day as Christmas.
If he was going to give gifts, he would give them to everyone, especially the professors. Building good relationships would make it easier to ask for detailed advice later on.
Even Dumbledore received a pair of the latest woolen socks.
Moreover, if you give the professors Christmas gifts, they wouldn't feel right not returning the favor. The gifts they give back would definitely be better than what you gave, so he wouldn't be at a loss.
"Countdown begins: ten, nine, eight, seven, three, two, one, return!"
After a dizzying spin, Jerry found himself back at his home in Queens, New York.
"Wow, it actually upgraded!"
Putting the Box in his pocket, Jerry opened the Panel and discovered that all the content on it had disappeared, leaving only a few large words:
"Panel Upgrading"
He clicked on the upgrade details:
"After this upgrade, the Second Minor World will be unlocked, and the items you can carry will no longer be limited to inanimate objects. The upgrade time is undetermined, and Little Red Stars will continue to be counted during the upgrade period."
After reading the upgrade details, Jerry's eyes lit up.
The Second Minor World meant that besides the Harry Potter wizarding world, he would soon be able to travel to other Mini Worlds to learn magic?
The magic of just the Harry Potter world had already benefited him immensely. If he could learn other types of magic, his future potential would increase even further.
The part about carrying items not being limited to inanimate objects was even more exciting for Jerry.
Previously, the Panel had a strict rule that he could only carry inanimate objects when traveling, such as his Wand, flying broom, or the Stun Sniper.
However, living beings, like his cat Crookshanks, humans, or various magical creatures, were not allowed.
But after the upgrade, this restriction would no longer exist.
This meant that if he wished, he could bring Hermione to the Main World without any issues.
What truly sparked his imagination was the possibility that, if he became strong enough, he could bring a group of wizards through the Box Space to the Main World and form a wizard army to resist Thanos' invasion.
And not just the Harry Potter world, but other Mini Worlds as well!
Of course, the prerequisite was that he himself had to be strong enough.
