Chapter 88: Look, How Peacefully This Rat Goes
Chapter 88: Look, How Peacefully This Rat Goes
Amidst the studying and confusion, Ivan managed to endure until the end of the term.
After all, even the Slytherin House, which was in second place, had long given up on the competition. There was simply too much of a gap between them.
However, the young Wizards from Gryffindor were still excited. When Dumbledore announced that the House Cup belonged to Gryffindor House, they clapped until their hands were red, proudly looking at the Slytherins across the table. This was their first time winning with such a decisive advantage.
Ivan also received a lot of attention during this process, but he was busy playing with a Rat he had just caught, and had no time to pay attention to it.
The learning of the Patronus Charm had reached a small bottleneck; ordinary practice or reading was no longer very effective. So Ivan decided to practice some Transfiguration spells for a while.
Just as when they arrived, the bulky Hagrid led the first-year students to the Hogwarts station after they signed the departure agreement.
As the Hogwarts castle grew smaller in the distance, the system's notification sound finally rang in Ivan's mind.
* Ding, the school year has ended. Would you like to conduct a year-end summary? *
"Yes!" Ivan silently replied.
When the grades were announced earlier, Ivan was puzzled why the system had no reaction or reward. It turned out the summary notification only came when they left the school.
* As of today, your performance for this school year is as follows:
Class Evaluation: Excellent
Reward: 100 House Points
Final Exam Results: Potions (O), Transfiguration (O), Herbology (O), History of Magic (Beyond Expectations)
Reward: 650 House Points
Honors: Quidditch Cup (Not Participated), Gryffindor House Cup (100 House Points).
Total Reward: 850 House Points *
The sudden reward of 850 House Points greatly surprised Ivan, who had been worried about his insufficient House Points.
It came just in time!
This made Ivan feel a bit more at ease as he prepared to enter a new environment. With the 200 House Points he had reserved, he could now reserve ten hours of battle time or use them for quick learning.
"Alright, kids, move faster, we need to get to the station quickly!"
At the front, Hagrid shouted loudly to them, his voice booming like a drum.
Ivan focused his mind and followed Hagrid's steps to the Hogwarts station, which was not far from the lake. From a distance, he could see the old steam train, painted a beautiful red, with a large chimney spewing thick white steam.
Ivan hadn't expected that his first ride on the Hogwarts Express would be on his way out. It was truly unique.
While Ivan was still reflecting on this, Harry and Ron had already pulled him into one of the compartments.
The compartment was spacious, and seating three or four people didn't feel cramped.
Hermione also ran over from another compartment shortly after. She had been with her roommates, Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown, but couldn’t stay there for long.
The group quickly gathered and started chatting animatedly, especially Hermione and Ron, who, despite enjoying their time at Hogwarts, still missed their homes.
Harry half-heartedly chimed in, occasionally complaining about the family that had adopted him.
Ivan took this opportunity to take a dazed Rat from the small iron cage he had brought and placed it on the table, preparing to continue his practice of using Magic to analyze the cells of flesh and blood.
Once they got off the train, they wouldn't be able to use Magic so freely anymore.
"Is this your new pet? A Rat? What about Maca?" Harry looked at Ivan's peculiar actions and asked, quite puzzled.
"This isn't a pet, just a prop for practicing Transfiguration", Ivan explained, closing his eyes and trying to permeate the Rat's body with as much Magic as possible.
Upon hearing Ivan's explanation, Hermione and Ron also turned their heads to curiously observe Ivan's actions.
However, all they saw was Ivan pressing his wand against the Rat's forehead, standing there motionless.
"Is this really going to work?" Ron muttered.
"Analyzing objects with Magic is a prerequisite for learning advanced Transfiguration", Ivan opened his eyes and said to them.
"Like when you Transfigure an Owl?" Harry asked curiously.
"Something like that", Ivan nodded, not mentioning the Animagus Transformation. Understanding it this way was fine anyway.
Harry and the others immediately became interested. They knew how powerful Ivan's Transfiguration spells were, and they were excited to learn that he practiced in this way. One by one, they eagerly pulled out their wands to give it a try.
Ivan didn't stop them, allowing them to experiment. After all, Rats were everywhere, and he had caught more than one at Hogwarts.
Harry tried to mimic Ivan's posture, pressing his wand against the Rat's forehead and attempting to channel Magic into it, while Hermione watched curiously from the side.
Ron remembered he had a Rat too, so he grabbed Scabbers, who was munching on a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean, and began to position his wand, trying to channel some Magic.
Scabbers was terrified, emitting a high-pitched squeal, but with Ron holding him by the tail, he couldn't escape and could only wriggle to avoid the wand.
"Don't move, let me cast the spell properly", Ron grumbled, pressing Scabbers down and placing his wand on its head.
Scabbers looked as if he had given up on life. Just then, Harry's side drew Ron's attention.
The Rat lying unconscious on the table began to convulse violently after Harry had randomly channeled some Magic into it. It foamed at the mouth and, a few seconds later, its legs stiffened, and it lay still.
Scabbers' eyes widened in horror. He felt he might not survive the day.
Harry's face turned awkward. He had only intended to channel a little Magic, but he didn't know how it had turned out this way.
"Don't worry, I had already used a Stunning Spell to put this Rat to sleep. It passed away peacefully", Ivan waved his hand, indicating that he was a humane Wizard who never mistreated animals, even if they were just Rats.
"Ron is the one mistreating the Rat!" Ivan glanced at the Rat in Ron's hand, suddenly remembering that Scabbers was an Animagus.
