Chapter 874: The Battle in the Great Hall
Chapter 874: The Battle in the Great Hall
Mcgonagall and the others exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions growing increasingly grave. Before they could ask any questions, another voice echoed from the entrance hall.
“No, he won’t, because Voldemort is dead!”
“Who?” Professor Mcgonagall turned her head in alarm and saw a figure standing at the entrance of the entrance hall.
Flitwick and the others immediately went on high alert when they noticed that the figure was holding the wand that had belonged to the late Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
Grindelwald slowly walked into the Great Hall. His deathly pale face and emaciated frame exuded an intense aura of oppression.
“Stop right there! State your purpose, Wizard!” Professor Mcgonagall stepped forward, blocking Grindelwald's path. “And I want to know why Albus' wand is in your possession.”
“I am here to find someone... I have no intention of harming any of my Wizarding brethren present...” Grindelwald replied indifferently, his gaze sweeping over the crowd before settling on Harry, who was standing there, glasses askew and covered in dirt.
“His target is Potter! Get Potter out of here!” Snape, who had noticed Grindelwald's gaze, quickly warned.
Madam Pomfrey, who was closest to Harry, immediately reacted, pulling him behind her and urging the other students to seek shelter. Meanwhile, Mcgonagall and Flitwick, along with the other professors, launched their attacks on Grindelwald.
“Expelliarmus!”
“Petrificus Totalus!”
“Stupefy!”
...
A myriad of spell beams flashed through the air.
Since they were unsure of the intruder's true identity, the professors aimed to subdue him and then interrogate him.
However, they had severely underestimated Grindelwald's strength. With a casual flick of his wand, an invisible magic barrier appeared before him. The spells from Mcgonagall and the others merely caused a slight ripple on its surface.
As Madam Pomfrey was about to lead Harry away, Grindelwald grew more serious. With a forceful movement of his wand, a massive explosion erupted in the Great Hall.
The intense heat and shockwave instantly sent the professors flying, and many of the young wizards who had not yet evacuated screamed in terror. But as Grindelwald's gaze swept over them, they fell silent, trembling and huddling in the corners.
Harry was also dazed by Grindelwald's explosion charm. When he finally managed to get up, the once-grand Great Hall was now in ruins. Madam Pomfrey, who had been trying to protect him, was knocked unconscious by the blast's aftermath.
Realizing that this powerful wizard was after him, Harry gritted his teeth, picked up Madam Pomfrey's wand, and shouted at Grindelwald. “Come on, I'm right here!”
Grindelwald, as Harry had expected, turned his attention away from the trembling young wizards and focused on him.
Having drawn Grindelwald's attention, Harry ran toward the back door without looking back, hoping to lure Grindelwald out of the Great Hall to prevent further casualties.
But he hadn't taken a few steps when he saw the large door ahead suddenly slam shut, locked tightly. His Alohomora had no effect, and with no other choice, Harry turned around and waved his wand at Grindelwald, who was approaching step by step.
"Expelliarmus~ Expelliarmus!"
A crimson beam shot from the tip of his wand, aimed directly at Grindelwald!
Unfortunately, this was clearly futile. Grindelwald casually waved his wand, and Harry's Disarming Charm was deflected back, striking him.
Harry tumbled to the ground, his wand flying out of his hand and landing somewhere out of sight.
Grindelwald could feel the Elder Wand in his hand no longer resisting his will, and a smile appeared on his face. However, to be on the safe side, Grindelwald pointed the tip of his wand at Harry, and a green light began to glow from it.
Fortunately, at that moment, the rear door of the Great Hall was blasted open by several spells!
Delius arrived with a large group of Aurors, forming a protective barrier in front of Harry. Hermione and Ron immediately rushed forward to pull Harry away. They hadn't gone to seek shelter like the other students but had instead called in all the Aurors stationed near Hogwarts!
Grindelwald's expression remained unchanged. To him, a dozen or so Aurors were insignificant, but soon another voice sounded behind him.
"Stone Soldiers!" Professor Mcgonagall shouted, and the entire castle shook. The clatter of collisions echoed from above and below, and the armor-clad knights and statues surrounding the Great Hall seemed to awaken from a slumber, picking up their weapons and forming a circle around Grindelwald.
The battle was about to begin!
More than twenty spells shot toward Grindelwald from all directions at once.
Holding the most powerful wand, Grindelwald showed no fear. A deep blue Fiendfyre erupted instantly, and the spell beams were extinguished before they could even reach him. The Fiendfyre then scattered and formed into a dragon, burning the stone statues to ashes.
Despite the combined efforts of Mcgonagall, Flitwick, Delius, and over twenty wizards, they couldn't suppress the vicious Fiendfyre for a moment.
However, the two previous intense battles had left Grindelwald with internal injuries he was struggling to contain. Considering the possibility of Ivan-Hals returning at any moment, Grindelwald abandoned his plan to kill Harry Potter and decided not to linger, directing the Fiendfyre to blast the western wall.
The Aurors surrounding Grindelwald reacted just in time. When they saw his wand pointing at them, they quickly escaped, narrowly avoiding certain death.
The Fiendfyre dragon slammed into the Great Hall's wall, causing an explosion and a cloud of smoke. A hole over three meters high appeared before everyone's eyes.
Taking advantage of the momentary chaos, Grindelwald quickly threw on his Invisibility Cloak and escaped through the gap created by the Fiendfyre, vanishing into the castle.
Delius and the others had not expected Grindelwald, who had the upper hand, to suddenly flee. They were caught off guard, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
Considering his demonstrated power, Mcgonagall, Flitwick, and Delius quickly conferred and decided to abandon the pursuit. They would focus their limited resources on strengthening the school's defenses and ensuring the students' safety, while also notifying the Ministry of Magic for additional support...
