Chapter 873: Tiger Unleashed
Chapter 873: Tiger Unleashed
"Stay right there!" Ivan had no intention of letting Grindelwald escape. It was better for such a dangerous figure to remain here forever.
"That's not up to you!" A sly smile crept onto Grindelwald's lips. He waved the Elder Wand at Ivan and clearly enunciated, "Explode!"
Ivan instinctively waved his wand to erect several Magic Barriers, but the next moment, a deafening explosion echoed above his head.
Shadows gradually spread over the entire square.
Ivan looked up in surprise, his pupils contracting. The Tower, already teetering, began to tilt and collapse. In Grindelwald's manic laughter, countless heavy bricks and stones quickly buried both of them.
Winky, watching from a distance, was frantic. As soon as the Tower collapsed, she rushed forward, eager to dig Ivan out.
But before she could start, Ivan's voice came from behind her. "No need to dig. I'm here..."
Winky turned around in delight. A large ball of white flame rapidly coalesced, and Ivan's figure emerged from the fire.
"Master, what do we do now?" Winky immediately clung to Ivan's robes, her voice shrill with worry.
Ivan didn't answer, his expression grim as he stared at the debris. Considering the possibility that Grindelwald might still be there, Ivan vigorously waved his wand, using Fiendfyre to burn the pile of rubble to ashes.
The fire raged for a full hour. Ivan searched the entire Nurmengard but found no trace of Grindelwald. He was forced to admit that his opponent had likely escaped using some unknown method.
"Could it be an Invisibility Cloak?" Ivan rubbed his chin, recalling Harry's message. He had a hunch.
But this discovery was undoubtedly bad news. With such a powerful Wizard and an Invisibility Cloak, the chances of finding him were virtually zero.
"Let's go back to Hogwarts!" Ivan looked at the scorched and empty Nurmengard, deciding to abandon the search for Grindelwald. He needed to return to the castle to prevent a sneak attack and to find answers to his many questions.
...
Meanwhile, in the Great Hall at Hogwarts, it was dinner time, and most of the students had gathered to enjoy their meal.
Ron, seated at the Gryffindor table, was uneasy. Harry had been missing for several hours, and to confirm this, Ron had sneaked into Snape's office, but found no one there.
Hermione, sitting beside him, had long noticed that Ron was hiding something. With Harry and Ivan absent from the Great Hall for dinner, her suspicions grew.
Under Hermione's persistent questioning, Ron hesitated but finally decided to ignore his promise to Harry and recounted their unauthorized actions in full.
"How could you do that?" Hermione glared at Ron angrily. "You let Harry... Harry go off alone to do something so dangerous? What if Snape caught him?"
"It shouldn't come to that, right?" Ron said sheepishly, though he was worried. He had tried to contact Ivan, but the latter wasn't at Hogwarts, and his Magic Mark had received no response.
Hermione slapped her right hand on the table and stood up abruptly.
"What are you going to do, Hermione?" Ron was taken aback by Hermione's aggressive demeanor and quickly asked.
"I'm going to tell Professor Mcgonagall about this!" Hermione said, her words deliberate and firm.
"Wait... I'll go with you!" Ron thought for a moment, then stood up as well. Although he knew they would surely be scolded by the professors, he couldn't ignore Harry's safety.
Just as the two were about to act, Peeves suddenly flew in from outside, shouting at the top of his lungs. "Dark Lord... Dark Lord is attacking! Professors, get ready to defend! Everyone, run for your lives!"
Peeves' shrill screams plunged the Great Hall into an eerie silence.
Then, as if someone had hit the play button, the young wizards began to scream and panic. Everyone tried to flee as fast as they could, with several younger students falling and crawling under the tables.
"Silence! Everyone, return to your seats!" Professor Mcgonagall descended from the teachers' table with a stern face, waving her wand to clean up the spilled food. She then turned to the instigator and angrily demanded, "Peeves, what are you shouting about?"
Peeves' eyes rolled around as he was about to exaggerate the situation, but before he could speak, Harry, supporting a staggering Snape, entered from the entrance hall.
"Good heavens, Severus, Potter, what happened to you?" Professor Mcgonagall, seeing their disheveled state, felt a sense of foreboding and hurriedly approached them.
Flitwick and others also gathered around, asking numerous questions about what had happened, and whether it was true that the Dark Lord had indeed launched an attack.
"Move aside... everyone, move aside! They need immediate treatment!" Madam Pomfrey pushed her way through and immediately conducted a preliminary examination of Harry and Snape.
Harry's condition was relatively stable. Though he was exhausted and had several bruises, these were minor issues that could be resolved with a calming potion and a good night's sleep.
In contrast, Snape's condition was much worse. His face was deathly pale, and his right leg was a sickly shade of purple.
Madam Pomfrey immediately suggested moving Snape to the Hospital Wing for further treatment.
"I've already taken some measures. This venom won't kill me right away. I have more important matters to report!" Snape refused Madam Pomfrey's help, scanning the crowd anxiously. "Where is Ivan Hals? Hals, where are you? I need to see him!"
"Ivan isn't at the school, and we can't contact him for the moment..." Hermione and Ron pushed their way through the crowd, looking rather helpless.
Snape's expression darkened.
"So what exactly happened, Severus? Why do you need to contact Hals?" Professor Mcgonagall immediately sensed the gravity of the situation and pressed for an answer.
"We destroyed something very important to the Dark Lord. He will likely choose to attack Hogwarts next..." Snape sighed, his tone grave and serious.
