Chapter 87: Launch Statement
Chapter 87 Launch Statement
This book has reached 200,000 words and will go live tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
Let me shamelessly dedicate this single chapter to asking for your support—please consider subscribing on the first day!
As a rookie author, writing this book has been tough. I’m begging for your first subscriptions and ongoing support!
Right now, on the Qidian App, you can claim multiple “chapter cards” daily just by watching ads. Subscribing with these chapter cards also counts as supporting this book. Thank you all so much!
——
Here are some heartfelt words.
First, thank you all for your continuous support.
Thank you for your donations, monthly votes, recommendation votes, and comments.
This book had a really rough start.
For the first five days after launch, there were only ten favorites, and just one or two daily reads.
Later, when it entered the new book shelf, it gained only two favorites on the first day (September 16th) and three on the second (September 17th).
At that point, I truly thought the book was doomed.
Things improved slightly afterward, but even by the day it left the shelf—September 25th—the total favorites were only 226.
I didn’t even reach the 300-favorite badge.
Under normal circumstances, veteran authors would’ve already abandoned the book. Continuing to write would’ve just meant wasting effort on a failure.
But I couldn’t bear to quit. For a new author, getting a contract is hard-won. How could I give up so easily?
So I kept grinding until the trial recommendation phase.
Maybe I just got lucky—really lucky.
The trial period coincided with National Day holidays when many readers were traveling.
While other authors saw their traffic drop, mine actually increased.
With this one-up, I surprisingly won the PK and advanced to the second recommendation round.
Back then, I checked the author app dozens of times daily (no exaggeration) just to track this book’s data.
I even repeatedly begged readers in author’s notes days ahead for Tuesday’s daily reads.
Honestly, I worried people would get annoyed, but my anxiety was uncontrollable.
The read data I saw was always two days delayed.
On Wednesdays, I’d stare at Monday’s numbers, feeling utterly disheartened.
The gap was massive. Based on group chat experiences, I assumed this PK was a lost cause.
But you surprised me.
Some readers actually showed up on Tuesday to boost this book’s reads!
This book, which started with abysmal data, was lifted into the third round by all of you.
When I received the site message confirming this, I was thrilled beyond words.
I’ll kowtow to you all again—thank you!
Here, I especially want to thank a reader named Ge Fei.
Since launch, they’ve cast countless recommendation votes for me.
At one point, I even wondered if I’d accidentally created a sock puppet account to vote for myself (doge).
Thank you deeply for your support, especially during those early days when the book had only dozens of favorites. It was a huge encouragement.
To every reader who’s made it here, thank you for your tolerance and patience.
I must admit, I lack writing experience. Between Chapters 31-36, I unintentionally created a plot hole.
Sighing, I regret it deeply when I look back now.
I considered deleting those chapters, but that would’ve severed the story’s continuity. Now, I’m stuck, unsure how to fix it.
I sincerely apologize.
From now on, I guarantee no more plot holes like this will appear.
——
Regarding updates after launch:
Expect at least two chapters daily, aiming for three.
The minimum is 4,000 words daily, with efforts to push 6,000. But I won’t overpromise—I don’t want to break my word.
If I finish 6,000 words in a day, I’ll release all of it.
If not, I’ll post 4,000.
I know many authors write faster, and readers likely prefer smoother 6,000-word updates.
But I’m just slow. I’m sorry for being a clumsy writer.
If there are special circumstances—like taking a break—I’ll explain in a dedicated note.
If updates suddenly shrink, please don’t misunderstand—I’m just stuck on writer’s block.
I’ll try to make up for it later.
——
Regarding post-launch extra updates:
The book currently has 6,000 favorites and 600 daily reads.
My expected first-day subscription goal is 100. If we exceed 200, I’ll add an extra chapter.
As for donations:
If total donations exceed ¥10 within 24 hours of launch, I’ll add another chapter.
I’d love higher targets, but I’ll keep it realistic—I won’t make empty promises.
——
Lastly, if you have good hex-related plot ideas, please leave them in the comments!
I’ve been racking my brain alone until now.
Only today at noon did I notice two new hex-discussion threads in the reviews.
I’d love to “steal” (okay, borrow) some ideas from your comments!
