Chapter 867: The Demon Clan Appears (First Update)
On the second morning of the tournament, Master Roshi, disguised as Jackie Chan, faced off against the Werewolf.
The Werewolf had harbored a grudge against Master Roshi for three years, ever since the Kamehameha wave shattered the moon, causing him to remain in his werewolf form and unable to transform back into a human.
However, the Werewolf's strength was no match for Master Roshi. After a few quick moves, Master Roshi resolved the fight and used Hypnosis to make the Werewolf mistake Krillin's back of the head for a full moon, finally allowing him to transform back into a human.
In the afternoon, Krillin faced off against Chaozu.
In terms of martial arts prowess, Chaozu was no match for Krillin. However, because the Crane School's Flight Technique allowed Chaozu to fly, he could hover in the air and use the Destructo Disk to suppress Krillin.
Coupled with his Iron Head Technique and Psychic Powers, Krillin had little chance to counter.
However, Krillin ultimately exploited Chaozu's weakness in arithmetic, distracting him and then knocking him out of the ring to win the match.
On the third day of the Martial Arts Tournament, in the morning, Goku faced off against Puar, who had a dual identity as a genius martial artist and a movie star. Goku defeated Puar with a single move.
In the afternoon, Master Roshi, still disguised as Jackie Chan, faced Tien Shinhan.
Jerry found this match quite interesting, despite neither fighter having a power level over two hundred. The combat techniques and strategic thinking displayed were still quite commendable.
If the power levels were vastly different, brute force would always prevail, and techniques would be unnecessary. However, when the power levels were close, techniques became crucial.
By the end of the match, Master Roshi sensed that Tien Shinhan's strength might surpass that of both Goku and Krillin. He conceded and stepped down from the ring.
However, the true philosophy of a martial artist that Master Roshi expressed during the fight, along with his final actions, subtly shifted Tien Shinhan's mindset.
In the final extra match, Goku faced Krillin. Despite Krillin using a variety of unconventional techniques, his overall strength was far inferior, and he ultimately lost to Goku.
The fourth day, the final day of the Martial Arts Tournament, saw Goku face Tien Shinhan to determine the ultimate champion.
This match was particularly exciting, especially when Tien Shinhan used the Four Demon Fist, which used his Ki to grow an additional pair of arms, doubling his attack speed.
In practice, Tien Shinhan found the Four Demon Fist more useful than the later Four Body Fist. While the Four Body Fist created four bodies, each with a quarter of his total strength, the Four Demon Fist maintained his full strength, allowing for a variety of close-combat techniques.
Jerry could also use Magic to create multiple clones, but these clones were weaker than the original and could easily be dispelled when attacked.
If Darkseid's Omega Effect could truly nullify his Magic, creating more clones would be futile, and the additional arms in close combat would significantly enhance his fighting power.
The Spirit Bomb was also impressive. Theoretically, it released most of the user's Ki in a single burst, making it more powerful than the Kamehameha. However, its slow activation time made it easy to dodge.
During the match, Master Crane ordered Chaozu to use Psychic Powers to cheat, but Tien Shinhan, with his strong sense of honor, prevented this. Enraged, Master Crane attempted to punish Chaozu but was sent away by Master Roshi with a Kamehameha.
In the end, both Goku and Tien Shinhan fell from the sky. Due to the butterfly effect caused by Jerry's presence, the cliché scene of Goku being hit by a car did not occur.
Thus, Goku won the championship of the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament by the slimmest of margins.
The 22nd Martial Arts Tournament came to a perfect conclusion, with Goku and Tien Shinhan's thrilling battle captivating all the spectators.
None of them had ever witnessed such a high-level fight before. The arena was completely destroyed, and if they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, they would have thought it was a special effect from a movie.
"Have you two thought about what you'll do next? If you don't mind, why don't you come to my place, and we can all train together?"
In the backyard of the Martial Arts Temple, while Goku was washing his face and drinking water, Master Roshi asked Tien Shinhan and Chaozu.
Tien Shinhan, having come to understand his true inner self, no longer aspired to become the world's greatest martial artist like his former idol, Tao Pai Pai. Instead, he wanted to become a true martial artist and face Goku again at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament.
Before Tien Shinhan and Chaozu could answer, Lunch, who was rarely seen blushing, spoke up loudly:
"I agree. I like men with a wild side. If you come to Kame House, I'll take good care of you!"
It turned out that after watching Tien Shinhan's match with Goku, Lunch had developed a fondness for the three-eyed man.
Tien Shinhan, however, was not very familiar with romantic matters. After some thought, he politely declined:
"Thank you for your kindness, but whether I've betrayed Master Crane or not, I was once part of the Crane School, and I don't feel right imposing on you."
"Don't worry about it. See, no one minds, and I think Lunch is pretty great."
Jerry stepped forward and patted Tien Shinhan's shoulder, trying to persuade him.
Marrying Lunch would be like getting two wives, which was quite a good deal.
"About that..."
Tien Shinhan hesitated, not because of Lunch, but because if he went to Kame House, he would train with so many skilled martial artists and improve much faster.
To be honest, he also wanted to spar with Jerry, as he couldn't sense Jerry's strength at all. But Goku had mentioned that he might not be a match for his senior, Jerry.
Goku also told him that three years ago, Jerry defeated Tao Pai Pai with a single move, using Psychic Powers to turn him into a toad.
"Let's go have dinner first, and we can discuss this later."
Seeing Tien Shinhan's hesitation, Master Roshi waved his cane and suggested.
Goku wholeheartedly agreed, as the match had drained his energy, and he was starving.
"Remember to bring your luggage!"
Jerry reminded Goku, who was empty-handed, knowing that if Krillin had to come back to help, he might be killed by the Demon Clan under Piccolo's command.
"Almost forgot!"
Goku hurriedly ran back to the waiting area and retrieved the Power Pole and the Four-Star Dragon Ball he had left there.
With that, the group left the tournament grounds and headed toward a large restaurant nearby.
Just as they were about to reach the restaurant's entrance, Jerry suddenly stopped and smiled.
"It looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for our meal."
Confused, Goku, Tien Shinhan, and Master Roshi looked up into the sky in the same direction, their expressions turning serious.
"Such strong Ki!"
moments later, a winged creature with deep green skin appeared above them.
With his arms crossed, he stared at the bag on Goku's back and demanded:
"Hand over the Dragon Balls in your bag!"
