Chapter 866: Rainy City
Chapter 866: Rainy City (Combined)
Has it been that long already?
I didn’t even notice... Qiao Sang was momentarily stunned but quickly regained her composure and said, "Could you please check me into a new room?"
"Of course." The staff member smiled and proceeded with the check-in.
Ten minutes later, in the residential area, Room 2009.
Qiao Sang entered, closed the door, and immediately plugged in her phone to charge.
The phone booted up, and she checked the date. It was indeed half a month later.
Qiao Sang pondered for a moment and then dialed Teacher Mikara’s number.
"The number you have dialed is currently out of service."
The automated message indicated the phone was off.
Could it be that they went into the Hidden Realm to look for me because I was gone for so long... A thought flashed through Qiao Sang’s mind.
"Ice Emperor."
At that moment, Lulu called out.
Qiao Sang gathered her thoughts and turned to look at it.
Lulu had run to the corner of the room, covering its nose with its claws, and was looking at her and Fangy, the Treasure Seeker, and the Steel Treasure with a slightly disdainful expression.
You didn’t look like this when we were outside... Qiao Sang thought, half-mocking, and said, "I’m going to take a shower."
"Xunxun~"
The Treasure Seeker took off the Ring and skillfully pulled out a few sets of clothes for Qiao Sang to choose from.
Qiao Sang picked one at random and went into the bathroom.
...
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
At the Beast Exchange Hall.
"You initially rented the Chirping Frog for a week, but it’s been missing for half a month. I couldn’t sense it at all, and I almost called the police. Besides paying for the additional eight days, you must also pay for emotional distress!" A bulky man in a black T-shirt and floral shorts complained angrily.
"Ningning..."
The Chirping Frog stood beside the bulky man, silently wiping away tears.
This mission was truly terrifying...
"Moreover, the Chirping Frog’s condition is clearly off; it also needs compensation for emotional distress." The bulky man glanced at the Chirping Frog and added.
Migala fell silent for a moment.
"Don’t tell me you’re not prepared to pay?" The bulky man’s brows furrowed, and his expression turned more menacing.
Migala looked at him and suddenly asked, "You said I rented the Chirping Frog, and it’s been half a month?"
...
At the Beastmaster Center, in the residential area, Room 2009.
Qiao Sang came out of the bathroom and helped Fangy and the others take a bath. She then picked up her phone and dialed Teacher Mikara’s number again.
This time, after two beeps, the call connected.
Before she could speak, Teacher Mikara’s voice came through the speaker, "Why are you only contacting me after half a month? Did you just come out of the Hidden Realm?"
Qiao Sang hummed in agreement and quickly recounted the events that transpired in the Hidden Realm, saying, "I thought it would only take about a week, but it turned out to be half a month."
Migala mused, "I’ve heard that the passage of time in some Hidden Realms is different from the outside world."
"But the information about Mystic Realm 88 doesn’t mention any discrepancies in time flow", Qiao Sang pointed out.
Migala thought for a moment and said, "It’s possible that the Guardian River, where you ended up, has a different time flow."
That makes sense... Qiao Sang thought to herself.
At that moment, Migala seemed to recall something Qiao Sang had mentioned earlier and asked in a surprised tone, "You said your Iceapura has evolved into Ice Emperor Lam?"
Qiao Sang couldn’t help but chuckle, "That’s right."
After speaking, she felt she should be a bit more modest and added, "Actually, my Iceapura’s energy was already full. It just needed a surge of excitement and a temperature of minus 60 degrees to evolve. I was just lucky that the excitement was there, and there was plenty of water around, with an Ice-type familiar willing to help."
Luck? You call that luck?! Migala held back, maintaining a calm tone, "Iceapura’s evolution was faster than expected, but your goal is the Interstellar Cup, and you still have a long way to go."
An S-Class Beastmaster is an S-Class Beastmaster. Hearing that Lulu’s evolution was met with such a calm reaction, Qiao Sang realized that for someone at that level, a General-Class Beast Companion evolving to the Royal Tier wasn’t a big deal. She nodded solemnly.
"I understand!"
As she spoke, something came to her mind, and she asked:
"Teacher, have you checked out of the hotel? Where are you now?"
Migala had already prepared her response:
"I've checked out and am currently exploring the Hollow Plains to learn more about familiars. Since you've completed your mission, let's meet at the Sky Passage and head to the next city."
Qiao Sang replied, "The meeting might be a bit delayed. The person I rescued went home, and I need to wait for them to come back so we can confirm the mission together."
Migala said, "Alright, contact me when you've finished confirming the mission."
"Sure."
Without any further ado, Qiao Sang hung up the phone and immediately sent a message to the number the Grand Patron had provided:
"The address has changed. I'm now in room 2009 at the Beastmaster Center. Make sure to send the items to the correct address."
About ten seconds later, the Grand Patron replied:
"Understood."
Relieved, Qiao Sang laid down on the bed, closed her eyes, and entered the Beastmaster Codex with her mind.
The pages flipped quickly, and soon she was on the page about Lulu:

Trait, Frost Body... Lulu has the Snowfall Trait, and if her injuries aren't severe, these two Traits will work together to save time and energy when using Healing Light...
Qiao Sang felt satisfied as she looked at the newly appeared Trait, her gaze moving downward.
When she saw that Purify had reached mastery, she felt it was worth it.
She had directly used points to boost the proficiency of Purify to mastery later on. Otherwise, with Lulu's Novice-level Purify, it would have taken who knows how long to completely purify the Guardian River.
Initially, she just wanted to get out faster and spare Lulu some suffering, but she hadn't expected that Lulu would become so excited after Purifying, and her wild beast companion would be willing to create a minus 60-degree weather...
Qiao Sang gathered her thoughts and looked at the three new Awakened Skills.
Avalanche, an Ice-Type Advanced Skill, can trigger a snowfall collapse if hit by an opponent's move, dealing double the damage to the opponent.
Ice Armor, another Ice-Type Advanced Skill, covers the body with an ice-like armor for defense.
And Energy Regeneration... hmm? Energy Regeneration?!
Qiao Sang's eyes lit up.
Energy Regeneration, a General Advanced Skill, restores a portion of the user's energy through self-regeneration. At mastery level, it can restore half of the user's energy, but it cannot be used when the user is in a status of energy blockage.
This Skill, though High-Rank, is even more popular than some Advanced Skills.
Because it is incredibly practical.
It saves a lot of money on Energy Recovery Potions in daily training and in the Hidden Realm.
Unlike the potions, which require some time to take effect, Energy Regeneration works instantly.
Most importantly, in Battlematches, Energy Regeneration can be quite annoying and often turns the tide of the battle.
With the Frost Body and Snowfall Traits, Healing Light for status recovery, and Energy Regeneration for energy recovery, Lulu's endurance is incredibly strong. She can easily take on a tank role.
The three Skills Awakened this time are all quite good, with attack, defense, and recovery. The only downside is that none of them are Advanced Skills...
Qiao Sang felt a bit disappointed. She remembered that the last time Lulu evolved into Iceapura, she Awakened two Advanced Skills, which had raised her expectations for Lulu's evolution into Ice Emperor Lam.
In reality, it's more common for Royal Tier Beasts to not Awaken Advanced Skills.
One must keep a level head...
As Qiao Sang's thoughts raced, she felt her phone vibrate several times.
She opened her eyes, picked up her phone, and saw a call from Liu Bo.
She answered the call, and his voice came through the speaker:
"Boss, I'm already at the Beastmaster Center. Where should I find you?"
Why does he call me boss... Qiao Sang got up and put on her shoes while talking on the phone.
"Third floor, Evaluation Office."
"Got it."
...
Third floor, Beastmaster Center.
Evaluation Office.
The tall, middle-aged Examiner checked Liu Bo's ID card and performed a facial recognition scan.
After confirming it was indeed him, he was stunned for a moment.
Honestly, he never thought someone missing in the Hidden Realm for so long could still be alive!
He had assumed the best outcome of this mission would be if the person brought back Liu Bo's bones or some other remains for identification.
Even if the mission was completed, it would have taken at least a month.
But the person had returned to his office in just half a month.
More importantly, they had brought back a live person...
The shock built up inside him, and after a long pause, the Examiner finally spoke his mind:
“I never thought you’d still be alive after spending so long in the Hidden Realm.”
“It’s all thanks to the big shot who saved me!” Liu Bo said seriously.
Without the big shot, he would have never made it out of the Hidden Realm alive.
The big shot… The Examiners glanced at the black-haired girl beside him. If he remembered correctly, her profile still listed her as a Minor…
What a shame, such a prodigy isn’t one of their own from the Hollow Plains…
He took a deep breath, opened the relevant evaluation mission on the computer, and approved it. Then, he turned to Qiao Sang with a complex expression.
“You did an excellent job with the mission.”
He paused for a moment and continued,
“I look forward to seeing your outstanding performance at this year’s Regional Tournament.”
“I will.”
As she walked out of the office, Qiao Sang declined Liu Bo’s invitation to dinner and returned to the dormitory area.
Just as she reached the door of Room 2009, she noticed a wooden box sitting outside.
Qiao Sang’s heart skipped a beat. She picked up the box and opened it to find a black, tear-shaped bead.
It’s really a Ghost Tear… No way, an S-Class Ghost Tear just left at the door? Who sent this package and had such a carefree attitude, not even bothering to call… Could this Ghost Tear not be S-Class? Should I find an appraiser in the next city to check it? As various thoughts flashed through her mind, she closed the box and handed it to Treasure Seeker, instructing,
“Take good care of it.”
“Xunxun~”
Treasure Seeker took off the Ring and carefully placed the box inside.
With everything taken care of, it seemed there was no need to stay here any longer. Qiao Sang pulled out her mobile phone and sent a message to Teacher Mikara:
【The mission has been confirmed as completed. I’m heading to Sky Passage now.】
…
High in the sky, on Fangy’s back.
Bored, Qiao Sang opened the historical posts while navigating and instinctively returned to the homepage, refreshing the page.
She then saw a post marked in red and pinned to the top.
#I Survived Being Captured by a Wild Beast Companion in Mystic Realm 88!#
Qiao Sang opened the post:
【About a month ago, I entered Mystic Realm 88 and was unfortunately captured by a wild beast companion. When I woke up, I found myself in a dim, foul-smelling place.】
【There, I endured inhumane torture, but I won’t go into detail to avoid making you queasy.】
【I saw several other people who had been captured, and they suffered the same fate.】
【Eventually, the torture drove me mad.】
【A big shot who’s participating in this year’s Regional Tournament saved us.】
【The madness was cured, and when my mind cleared, I found myself emaciated but otherwise fine.】
【The process of leaving the Hidden Realm was nothing short of bizarre.】
【Recently, there have been frequent disappearances in Mystic Realm 88, and we were part of that group.】
【To prevent others from experiencing what we did, I’m going to reveal the truth behind our disappearances…】
The post abruptly ended.
Qiao Sang scrolled down and found that the rest of the content was locked behind a paywall.
You have to pay to continue reading.
Well, that’s one way to make money… Qiao Sang’s lips twitched slightly as she closed the forum and continued navigating.
Half an hour later, Fangy arrived at Sky Passage.
Qiao Sang quickly found Teacher Mikara.
“How did the mission go?” Mikara pretended to inspect Qiao Sang after not seeing her in a while, asking.
“It was great, and I learned a lot,” Qiao Sang replied.
Not only had the mission been completed, but Fangy and the others had also gained some Points. Most importantly, Lulu had successfully evolved to the Royal Tier, becoming her first Royal Tier Beast.
Iceapura evolved into Ice Emperor Lam, and you summed it up in just eight words? Mikara tried to keep her expression calm:
“It’s good to hear you had some gains.”
Qiao Sang then thought of something and asked, “Teacher, where are we heading next?”
Mikara had already made the plan:
“Rainy City.”
Rainy City, known for its constant rainfall, hence the name.
This city was fairly well-known in the Hollow Plains, so Qiao Sang had heard of it while in the Yuhua Region.
Fangy probably wouldn’t be too happy in Rainy City.
As she thought, Qiao Sang turned to look at Fangy and noticed it staring intently at her backpack.
“.”
That look… It must be because Lulu evolved and now wants to challenge it, right? (End of Chapter)
