Chapter 864: Crane Hermit and Turtle Hermit
Chapter 864: Crane Hermit and Turtle Hermit
"This is a long story. After climbing Korin Tower, I first went to the Heavenly Deity Temple, then to the Underworld, and have been training with the World King for the past few years. After this is over, I'll be heading to the Heavenly Deity Temple to take up the position of Heavenly Deity."
Turtle Hermit, in turn, wasn't too secretive with Jerry, giving a general account of his training experiences over the years.
When Turtle Hermit heard Jerry mention the Heavenly Deity, the King of Hell, and the World King, he nearly fainted from shock. It took him a while to regain his composure and wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.
"No wonder you didn't participate in the World Martial Arts Tournament. Your strength must have already been the best in the world!"
Back at Turtle Hermit's house, when Jerry said he wouldn't join the World Martial Arts Tournament, Turtle Hermit found it strange. Given his understanding of Jerry, it didn't make sense for him to miss such a rare opportunity to improve.
As for the excuse that there were too many strong competitors, that was impossible, because three years ago, Jerry could easily crush Taopaipai.
"Are you going to stay at the Heavenly Deity Temple from now on?"
"Pretty much. Once the World Martial Arts Tournament is over, I'll stay there. However, I've created a clone in Western City using my superpowers, so you can find me there if you need anything."
Jerry nodded and then reminded Turtle Hermit:
"Master Roshi, don't tell the others about me becoming the Heavenly Deity just yet. I'm afraid it might shock them."
"Sure, sure. It is quite shocking. Impressive, I never thought the Martial Arts God would have a Heavenly Deity disciple. That's quite an honor."
Turtle Hermit adjusted his sunglasses, wearing a proud smile.
"Would anyone like a drink?"
At that moment, a slender flight attendant approached with a tray of beverages.
Turtle Hermit immediately reached out his hand quietly.
"Slap!"
A moment later, his face bore a fresh red slap mark.
Jerry shook his head.
Around four in the afternoon, the plane landed on the small island where the World Martial Arts Tournament was being held.
Due to the world-renowned tournament, the island was bustling with martial artists from all over the world, eager to make a name for themselves, as well as countless tourists and journalists hoping to catch a glimpse of the action.
It was a lively scene.
"Let's go register first!"
Turtle Hermit reined in his lecherous gaze, straightened his tie, and led the group toward the registration area for the World Martial Arts Tournament.
At that moment, Jerry glanced up and noticed a tiny insect floating in the air, about the size of a fly.
He raised his hand but then lowered it.
"Forget it. If I destroy it, Krillin's wife will be gone."
The insect that had been buzzing around his head wasn't a real insect but a sophisticated mechanical collector.
It was created by Dr. Gero of the Red Ribbon Army.
After Jerry turned Taopaipai into a toad and left, Goku followed Jerry's advice and climbed Korin Tower. After completing his training, Goku's strength greatly increased, and he single-handedly wiped out the Red Ribbon Army.
As the chief scientist of the Red Ribbon Army, Dr. Gero sought revenge on Goku by using these mechanical insects to gather data and energy from all martial artists to create powerful androids.
One of these androids, Android 18, was to become Krillin's wife.
If Jerry were to eliminate Dr. Gero now, the androids would never be created, and Krillin would lose his future wife.
Jerry thought about it and decided to let it go.
After all, even if it were the fully evolved Cell, Jerry wouldn't be at a disadvantage using Magic. And after all these years, he might be able to overpower Cell even without Magic.
There was no need to worry too much about it.
It was 5:50 in the afternoon.
"Ten minutes until the registration deadline. Those who haven't registered, please hurry up."
The staff member at the registration desk repeated the announcement three times.
"This guy Goku, how can he be so slow? He might miss the registration!"
Bulma, hearing the staff's reminder, started to get anxious.
"Did he forget?"
Yamcha, remembering Goku's unique way of thinking, voiced his concern.
"No way, he's been looking forward to this moment. He won't forget."
Krillin spoke with unusual seriousness. As Goku's best friend, no one knew Goku better than he did.
"Snap!"
A virtual image suddenly appeared before everyone. In the image, Goku was wearing a fur outfit and sprinting down the road, leaving cars far behind.
"He's not far from here. At his speed, he should be here within eight minutes, in time for registration."
Jerry smiled and said.
"Almost forgot, you have superpowers!"
Bulma suddenly jumped up.
"Superpowers?"
Krillin and Yamcha looked puzzled.
Turtle Hermit explained:
"Jerry isn't just a powerful martial artist; he has many superpowers. Remember the meals we had when he trained with me?
And the times when I got my furniture smashed. Anyway, he has many powerful superpowers, far beyond what that General Blue of the Red Ribbon Army could do."
Midway through his explanation, Turtle Hermit noticed Jerry's narrowed eyes and quickly changed the subject, omitting the part about the silicone dolls.
"Good, as long as he makes it."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, reassured that Goku wouldn't miss the registration.
While everyone was distracted, Turtle Hermit quietly moved to the registration desk and signed up again under the pseudonym "Jackie" for this martial arts tournament.
He had used a pseudonym in the previous World Martial Arts Tournament to prevent his disciple from becoming too proud after winning. Back then, he defeated Goku and took first place, along with the 500,000 prize.
Martial artists tend to eat a lot, and Goku was no exception. Not every disciple was as wealthy as Jerry, who could conjure up all sorts of food.
So, apart from his initial motivation, he also participated to help with the household expenses.
"Hey, I thought you were someone else. Isn't that Turtle Hermit?"
Just as Turtle Hermit returned from his secret registration, a mocking voice rang out from behind the group.
Jerry turned around to see Crane Hermit, Turtle Hermit's fellow disciple, along with his two disciples, Tien and Chiaotzu, who had come to participate in the World Martial Arts Tournament.
Though they were fellow disciples, Crane Hermit and Turtle Hermit clearly didn't get along. They started arguing after just a few words.
Finally, Crane Hermit gave a cold snort and led his two disciples away.
Shortly after they left, Goku finally arrived, wearing his fur outfit and panting heavily. He managed to get his name on the registration list just two minutes before the deadline.
