Chapter 862: Your Empty Mind Can't Hide Anything
Chapter 862: Your Empty Mind Can't Hide Anything
Accompanied by a dizzying spin, Harry soon felt his body heavily crash onto the grass. The Ancient Clock he had been gripping tightly slipped from his hand and landed a short distance in front of him. Even worse, his Glasses were nowhere to be found.
His severe nearsightedness made it impossible for Harry to see anything clearly, but he could vaguely sense that he was in some kind of Wasteland.
Harry frantically crawled on the ground, feeling around for his Glasses. Fortunately, they hadn't fallen far and hadn't been damaged. Once he put them back on, everything around him became clear again.
However, regaining his vision did not provide Harry with any sense of security. Instead, it made him feel as if he had fallen into an icy pit.
He recognized this place all too well; he had been here before. The partially broken Tombstone with the name "Tom Riddle" clearly inscribed on it lay not far from him, and the damage from the battle that took place here a year ago had not completely vanished.
The only difference from his last visit was that the dilapidated mansion in front of him had been redecorated.
Clearly, this was Riddle House, Voldemort's home... Harry immediately understood where he was and realized that this was a trap set specifically for him!
Voldemort had once again successfully lured him away from Hogwarts...
A chill ran down Harry's spine. As he regretted and berated himself for being too impulsive, he hesitated about whether to use the Magic Mark to call for Ivan's help. This was clearly a meticulously designed trap by Voldemort, and if he rashly summoned Ivan, he might end up getting him killed.
As Harry was wavering, Snape's voice suddenly came from behind him. "Don't waste your energy. This is a Safe House, protected by the Fidelius Charm. Even if Ivan Hals receives your message, he won't be able to reach here."
Harry shuddered, but before he could turn around, a hand reached out from behind and firmly grabbed his right arm.
"I warned you not to touch anything in my office... and not to delve into the Dark Lord's mind without permission. It seems you didn't listen to a single word", Snape said coldly, then yanked off Harry's Invisibility Cloak.
He dared not let Harry remain under the Invisibility Cloak. If not for the moment of exposure when Harry had been transported and searching for his Glasses, he might not have caught him so easily.
"You have indeed betrayed us and joined Voldemort!" Harry spat out the words through gritted teeth, his eyes blazing with fury.
By now, Harry had pieced everything together. Over the past two weeks, all of Snape's slip-ups had been deliberate, designed to make him believe everything he had seen in his dreams!
What puzzled him was how Snape could be so certain that he would enter his office and touch the Ancient Clock today.
Unless... the thought sent a shiver down Harry's spine.
"Did you guess it, then?" Snape's lips curled into a mocking smile, and he seemed to relish Harry's helpless state. "Clearly, your empty mind can't hide anything. Every action you've taken, every idea you've had, I know them all... including your clumsy infiltration plan from last night!"
"Did you never suspect why I coincidentally left Hogwarts today?" Snape's gaze was filled with derision. "Of course, perhaps I overestimated you, Potter. You probably can't think that deeply..."
Harry's face turned bright red. The thought of his recent clever attempts to test Snape's reactions made him wish he could find a crevice to crawl into immediately!
However, he didn't want to see Snape's smug satisfaction, so even though he was in a difficult position, he remained stubbornly silent, his eyes burning with a glare that could kill.
After a round of taunting, Snape didn't seem as elated as Harry had imagined. Instead, a hint of nervousness appeared on his face. He took a deep breath and forcibly dragged Harry towards the Riddle House.
Harry struggled fiercely to break free from Snape's grip, but the latter's wrist held him like a vise, and the wand in his right hand made Harry feel utterly powerless.
The open door ahead seemed like the gaping maw of a demon, and he was stepping into it one agonizing step at a time. The slow approach to what felt like certain death was excruciating, and fear washed over him like a tidal wave.
Harry tried to channel Magic into the Magic Mark on his right wrist to inform Ivan of his predicament, but as Snape had said, he received some response, but Ivan couldn't pinpoint his location.
"Master, I have brought the Invisibility Cloak and Harry Potter", Snape said respectfully after dragging Harry into the hall.
Harry could hear the tremor in Snape's voice, a mixture of excitement and eagerness to receive Voldemort's praise.
"You have done well, Severus. I knew you would succeed!" Voldemort's figure emerged from the shadows. He ignored Harry and didn't rush to take the Invisibility Cloak. Instead, he extended his arms and embraced Snape, welcoming his most loyal servant.
Snape seemed taken aback by the gesture. He spoke softly to Voldemort for a moment before handing over the Invisibility Cloak he had been clutching.
Voldemort took it and ran his fingers over it, feeling the immense Magic contained within. Only the Elder Wand could rival its power.
Without hesitation, Voldemort draped the cloak over himself, and his body quickly vanished from sight.
After a brief experiment, Voldemort felt somewhat disappointed. This Deathly Hallow was much weaker compared to the Elder Wand, merely providing invisibility, something he could achieve with a simple Disillusionment Charm.
However, Voldemort quickly adjusted his mindset. The existence of the Invisibility Cloak confirmed the legend's authenticity, and there might be hidden functions he hadn't discovered yet.
Harry watched coldly as Voldemort played with his Invisibility Cloak, feeling both anger and fear. It seemed that what he had seen in his dreams was not entirely false. Voldemort was indeed searching for something—his Invisibility Cloak!
Moreover, Harry noticed that Voldemort had swapped his wand for a familiar one, the very wand that belonged to Dumbledore!
