Chapter 86: Special Training
Chapter 86: Special Training
As the members of the Wild Wolf Gang left, the courtyard gradually quieted down.
The bodies of Wei Bao and his men were taken away, while the corpses of Jiang Xiong and his group were left behind like trash, ignored by everyone.
Some Wild Wolf Gang members, hoping for a lucky break, went inside the house to look around. After finding nothing of value, they silently left.
Wu Tian and his group, who collected stall fees on the streets, were also on their way back, their mood somber.
"Sky Brother," one of them finally spoke up. "Should we run away now?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the others looked up at Wu Tian, who was walking at the front.
They had all witnessed the fate of Wei Bao and his men. Over a dozen people had been killed by a single person. What did that mean?
If that person were to target them, what would their fate be compared to Wei Bao's group?
"We should pack up and get ready to leave," Wu Tian said, narrowing his eyes.
He suspected that the Iron Fist Gang was behind this, intending to force them to flee.
"So, are we running away today?"
Wu Tian glared at him. "What's the rush? If others aren't running, why should you be the first to go? What will others think if they find out?"
"Sky Brother is right. We should leave, but not as the first ones," a nearby junior member chimed in.
"Exactly," Wu Tian agreed, glancing back. "Running away isn't a joke. We must be fully prepared. We'll leave in a couple of days."
"Okay!" they all agreed.
"By the way, Sky Brother, shouldn't we..." One of the junior members made a throat-slashing gesture.
"I don't need your reminder," Wu Tian said with a cold laugh.
Even without the secret recipe for roasted sweet potatoes, he wanted to get rid of that kid to vent his anger.
"Remember, be extra careful these two days. Try not to go out after dark. I feel like the guy who killed Wei Bao is watching us from the shadows."
The group shuddered in fear and quickly looked around.
...
In the blink of an eye, the morning passed by.
After bidding farewell to the martial arts gym members, Jiang Cheng walked back, glancing at his proficiency panel.
The experience points for Dual Sticks had increased by nearly fifty points. Although it was still far from the three thousand needed for mastery, an hour of real combat training was equivalent to several hours of solo practice.
"If only I could spar with Bai Shexie and the others all day," Jiang Cheng thought to himself.
But this wasn't very realistic.
Firstly, he couldn't stay at the gym all day unless he didn't go out to sell in the afternoon.
Secondly, Bai Wei and the others were responsible for all the members on the second floor, not just him.
Unless...
An idea popped into Jiang Cheng's mind.
Unless he spent money.
Yes, he could pay someone to spar with him.
Sparring with experts for 50 hours without eating or drinking would be required to reach Great Proficiency in stick combat. If he trained for four hours a day, it would take over fifty days. With eight hours a day, it would only take five or six days! But this was too extreme, even if others had the time; he might not have the stamina.
As for money, even at a rate of two hundred per hour, four hours in the morning would cost eight hundred yuan. Over ten days, it would only amount to eight or nine thousand yuan, which wasn't much after his recent windfall.
Yes, if money could solve the problem, was it even a problem?
However, Jiang Cheng had a concern.
Would doing this arouse suspicion? But after careful consideration, he felt he might be worrying too much.
After all, everyone knew that his roasted sweet potato business was doing well, and those with a keen eye could even calculate his daily profits.
Spending a few thousand could be explained away.
With this in mind, Jiang Cheng nodded. Although it was unlikely that the Wild Wolf Gang knew the murderer was him, it was still best to take precautions and quickly improve his strength, just in case.
No matter how much money he had, it was useless if he didn't spend it. If he could use it to improve his skills, there was no reason to hesitate.
With improved stick skills, he might have a chance to meet the Master of the Dojo and gain access to the Secret Arts sooner rather than later.
As for the candidate, he would first ask Zeng Shixiong. If he wasn't available, he would look for Zhao Xiangyu, and if that didn't work out, he would have to resort to finding Bai Shejie.
After all, with Xiao Shixiong eyeing him like a tiger, Jiang Cheng could only play it safe.
Of course, if luck wasn't on his side and all three of them were busy, there was still a solution. Besides the Falcon Fist Gym, there were two other martial arts academies on the street that he could turn to.
With everything clear in his mind, Jiang Cheng felt much better, as if he could already envision himself defeating Zeng Shixiong in a few days after achieving Great Proficiency in Double Sticks.
As usual, he first checked for any signs of intruders before starting to cook dinner.
After dinner, without delay, he pushed his tricycle out to set up his stall.
By the time he reached the street, news of Wei Bao's murder had spread everywhere, and people were discussing it.
Compared to the morning, there was some new information. It was said that members of the Wild Wolf Gang had gone to investigate and were inquiring about the murderer's whereabouts, warning that anyone who concealed information would face the consequences.
Some speculated that it was the work of an expert from the Iron Fist Gang, as the two gangs were mortal enemies.
Others guessed that a hero had taken justice into their own hands, acting on behalf of the heavens to eliminate a menace.
There were also those who believed it was an inside job, a case of the wolves turning on each other.
Jiang Cheng found it amusing; the more muddled the waters, the better.
He closed the stall on time in the evening and took stock of his earnings, which were still around four hundred, close to five hundred.
Additionally, his roasted sweet potato skill had reached the Perfect level.
This meant that the sweet potatoes he roasted were even sweeter and more delicious.
Despite this, Jiang Cheng didn't plan to raise his prices. Instead, he was somewhat concerned that once the Iron Fist Gang arrived, his daily income would drop again.
After dinner, Jiang Cheng rested for a while before starting his Foundation Training.
Now that he had found a way to quickly improve his Double Sticks skills, he should use his other time to enhance his Foundation Training.
After all, this was something he couldn't improve by sparring with others; he had to diligently spend time to level it up.
The night passed without incident.
The next morning, Jiang Cheng took a thousand yuan from the money box.
Today was the day for Lin Quanliang to guide everyone, and it was a good opportunity to ask if he was willing to help. If he agreed, it would be even better, and Jiang Cheng could pay him directly. If not, he could ask someone else later.
After locking the door and asking his neighbors to keep an eye on his place, Jiang Cheng headed to the martial arts academy.
Soon after, Lin Quanliang arrived and stretched for a while before they started sparring.
Everything seemed similar to the day before.
At around eight o'clock, Zhao Xiangyu appeared on the second floor.
"Jiang Cheng, hold on for a moment."
He waved at Jiang Cheng, who was sparring with someone, "I have something to tell you."
Jiang Cheng was stunned, feeling puzzled, but he still put down his sticks and went upstairs.
"Zhao Xiangyu, what's the matter?"
Zhao Xiangyu's expression was grave, unlike his usual smiling self.
Jiang Cheng also felt a sense of unease.
"Follow me."
