Chapter 859: We Want Real World Peace!
Chapter 859: We Want Real World Peace!
Revolutionary Army.
The World Government's greatest enemy, a force deemed more urgent to eliminate than even pirates.
Its captain? Dragon.
"You got anything to say?" Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke, asking Garp.
The son of that old man.
"Puhuhu, the old man can't control everything", Garp chuckled, then added, "Though entering Mariejois at this time really isn't ideal. That brat Dragon's being too reckless."
Kaku frowned anxiously, "Is that appropriate to say, Captain Garp?!"
"Puhuhu, what's the big deal?" Garp kept laughing.
Whether the old man's indifference is genuine or feigned, who knows. But judging by the World Government's typical behavior...
"They probably didn't kill him." Kuro tapped the newspaper's cover with his finger. "Same as when I encountered Silvers Rayleigh last time. They'll announce his death before even confirming it."
He picked up knife and fork, eating the food brought by the waiter. After finishing his wine, he floated up, "But this has nothing to do with us. Sabo isn't your grandson, Garp."
"Puhuhu, the old man just knows Sabo. Doesn't have many grandsons", Garp continued grinning.
Kuro shrugged, rising to float away, "I'm out."
"You're not escorting us?" Kaku asked.
"Headquarters called me. Besides, look at me like this, who can I escort? Forget it", Kuro snapped. "Don't invite me next time. Pretend I'm dead."
He's tired. He's numb. He just wants to retire peacefully back at G-3.
The New World's chaos is raging, but Navy-controlled waters remain relatively stable. Since most turmoil happens in pirate domains, Kuro just wants to retreat to G-3, shut the gates, and focus only on internal jurisdictional waters and tourism until the crisis eases. Then, finally, enjoy lifelong peace.
"Puhuhu, that'd be scary indeed. Dead men tell no tales", Garp laughed.
Kuro didn't bother responding. After exiting the restaurant, he headed straight for the Golden Lion, sailing toward the Grand Line.
Meanwhile, in Mariejois.
After the meeting ended, several Kings gathered privately in a conference room.
"Lord won!"
At a small round table, David slammed his fist on the table, excited, "Lord defeated that devil's heir! Many Kings now favor him. We should contact them!"
"We're on it, we're on it!"
The North Blue Four Nations' Kings raised their hands in unison, like conjoined triplets, exclaiming, "After Vice Admiral Kuro's news spread, many Kings approached us asking for his contact details and ways to befriend him!"
This isn't joking. In the Gregate battle, Kuro eliminated not only Bartholomew but numerous pirates. After news spread, several Kings wept with joy since those pirates had long ravaged their nations without capture.
Golden Lion Vice Admiral—the Navy's pillar! The embodiment of Justice!
This earned Kuro immense admiration. Currently, his deeds have given these Kings unprecedented security.
"Hold on!"
David raised his hand, "Don't rush. No need to contact them yet. Let's first gather secretly, decide our direction regarding 'Debang', then reach out. We're all here because Lord helped us. We can align our goals first. But if we rashly invite others now, they might not side with us, even reporting us to the World Government."
"That's true", Luo Wei nodded. "Like that Flower Country. They kept badmouthing me during the seven-day meeting. If they continue, I'll have to start another war."
"I support you, but not now", David said to Luo Wei. "World peace must be step-by-step. Flower Country's massive size means we can't waste limited strength there. Conserve strength for development, stabilize our territories first."
Luo Wei remained noncommittal.
David continued, "Once we're stable, gradually bring in Kings who support our cause. Ensure our original vision stays pure. Don't become the next World Government. Though their original intent might have been good—eight hundred years ago, their transformation might've held noble ideals and beautiful visions! But face reality. The World Government has strayed from its origins. We must be cautious! We want real world peace!"
"Comrades! We mustn't become the next World Government. Let civilians freely navigate the Grand Line! Let nations prosper in peace! Our path is dangerous, but we'll persevere. Those who walk this road will never run out!!"
"Brilliant, brother!" Ajitan applauded fervently, "You speak truth! I'll contribute all my strength!!"
The North Blue Four Nations' Kings clapped blindly. They didn't understand much, but disrupting the atmosphere now would be inappropriate.
Luo Wei, listening to David's speech, felt uneasy, instinctively activating Observation Haki to check for eavesdroppers outside.
If there were any, he'd have to cause trouble in Mariejois.
"This guy..."
Luo Wei stared at David, sensing an unsettling familiarity. Could this be...? No, he refused to admit it, but this might be his brother-in-law.
He didn't interact much with Kuro before, finding him annoying, but kept tabs through Lida.
As a King, his former specialty was intelligence, assassination, and war. Gathering intel was trivial.
This guy's speech strangely echoed Kuro's rambling manner when he's bored.
David now clasped his chest, striking a solemn pose.
Inside his robe, a treasure he cherished above life itself rested.
Not the "Justice Quotes" book—important as it was—but a handwritten paper he'd copied. Even more precious!
He'd obtained it!
That paper hidden in Lord's hometown house, capable of toppling the World Government, bringing genuine peace.
Lord always harbored such ideals. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left this behind or written it.
He wrote it for a reason, waiting for someone to discover, to act upon his ideals, working together with him from within the Navy!
David accepted this mission!
For Lord's lifelong wish!
Fulfilling his master's dream is a knight's duty.
"I won't let you down, Lord!" David silently vowed.
