Chapter 859: The Beginning of It All
Chapter 859: The Beginning of It All
"Are you Baxton Goldenflower?" Su Yu asked calmly, looking directly at him.
"Oh? You know who I am?" Baxton seemed surprised.
He had been drinking at this small tavern for over a decade, but Su Yu was the first person to recognize him and seek him out.
Su Yu nodded slightly.
From his backpack, he took out a silver-white, diamond-shaped metal badge and placed it on the table. "Do you recognize this?"
Baxton's gaze shifted to the badge.
Sensing the incredible and mysterious energy contained within it, Baxton's eyes narrowed slightly.
He remained silent for a few seconds before asking in a low voice, "Is Antonio doing well?"
The owner of the silver-white badge was named Antonio Forestsong, a renowned plane trader.
The two had been close friends and had conducted business together across various planes. However, due to Baxton's severe injuries, they hadn't seen each other in over twenty years.
Su Yu smiled. "He's doing well, very robust. A few days ago when I saw him, he was still talking about going to the Fire World to catch a Flame Demon Lord as his mount!"
"Heh, that old coot, that's definitely his style." A rare, warm smile appeared on Baxton's lips, as if recalling their days of working together in business.
The tavern owner, who had been busy at the front, looked puzzled.
What's going on?
Fire World?
Flame Demon Lord?
This young man, with his cute cat, seemed to be in serious trouble.
Baxton, ignoring the tavern owner's shocked expression, smiled at Su Yu. "Since you're a friend of Antonio's, you must have something important to discuss with me, right?"
"Of course." Su Yu nodded. "Would you like to hear a story?"
"Sure, go ahead."
The tavern owner brought over the best wine in the house. As the two of them drank, Su Yu began to recount his recent experiences:
"This story begins five days ago, in Gold Coast City. I went to 104 Mark Street to visit Antonio..."
Su Yu had decided to visit Gold Coast City to see Antonio because he knew of Antonio's identity as a plane trader. He wanted to purchase some rare materials from him.
Su Yu planned to spend 100 billion Spirit Coins (which he had requested from the United Government) to buy a material called the "Skyreaching Star" and travel to the "Whirlcloud City" to exchange it for the "Whirlcloud Core" with the "Whirlcloud King Yazad."
However, the conversation eventually turned to the Sand Nation, which was currently invading Whirlcloud City.
Mentioning the Sand Nation, Antonio suddenly smiled. "Sir Kestrel, I know your companion is a noble Celestial Cat, right?"
"That's correct." Su Yu didn't deny it; it was common knowledge.
But Su Yu was curious why Antonio brought this up.
Antonio continued to smile. "Do you know about a material called 'Celestial Rift Medium'?"
"Celestial Rift Medium? You know about it?" Su Yu was taken aback.
"Celestial Rift Medium" was one of the primary materials that his cat, Morning Star, was currently searching for. She needed five main materials to break through, and "Celestial Rift Medium" was one of them.
Antonio smiled. "Not only do I know about it, but I also have a Legendary-quality 'Celestial Rift Medium'! Do you need it?"
Su Yu's expression grew serious. "What's the quality of the medium? How much do you have?"
"Plenty, a full kilogram."
"A kilogram is more than enough! How much do you want for it? I'm willing to pay 200 billion Spirit Coins!" Su Yu said eagerly.
"Celestial Rift Medium" was one of the rarest materials in the Celestial Realm, something that could only be found by chance.
"If we miss this village, we might not find another store like this one again.
As for the 200 billion Psychic Coins... of course, we still need to request them from the United Government. But we can always give back some to the merchants later on.
200 billion Psychic Coins, hmm... that is indeed a reasonable price," Antonio sighed.
"But you should also know that items of this level are usually only traded, not sold, right?"
"Of course, I know," Su Yu replied. "What do you want to trade for?"
"I want to trade for the Core of the Sand King, and it's the host, not the offspring," Antonio said solemnly.
He then explained, "My old friend Baherst was severely injured, and only this can heal his internal injuries."
Baherst, who had been his old friend for over twenty years, finally understood everything.
The innkeeper, completely stunned, stood rigid as a statue.
At first, he thought it was just a conversation between two mental patients.
But when Su Yu took out the circular storage device, the innkeeper's eyes widened in shock, his mind was filled with a single word—damn!
He couldn't believe that after all these years, his old friend was still thinking of him.
The innkeeper, who had suffered a shock, was completely frozen in place.
"Alright, Baherst..." Su Yu waved, releasing a Sound Barrier to isolate the innkeeper.
The following conversation was beyond the innkeeper's hearing, but for him, it was a good turn of events.
"Then, I'll start researching how to defeat the Sand King," Su Yu continued, looking at Baherst's red-rimmed eyes.
The Sand King, known to reside in the Sand City, is heavily fortified, with a multitude of powerful allies.
Even a peak-tier player could not touch it, let alone a god.
To kill the Sand King, only Su Yu himself and the special communication channels.
When he heard the name of the Star Gap Medium, she immediately rushed to the main plane to meet with Su Yu.
The only thing that could deal the Sand King a significant injury, of course, the Core powerful beings, especially the Water Crystals, could deal the Sand King a severe blow.
Antonio had been busy contacting other plane merchants, spending nearly 100 billion Psychic Coins to obtain the large Water Crystal.
With the massive Water Crystal, Su Yu and the cat, set off on their journey to the Land of Sand.
