Chapter 854: The Demon King's Ascension
Chapter 854: The Demon King's Ascension
Of course, what You Xuan presented to Amon was the Elf Dimension of the Twelfth Star, which had been dominated by the Tyrant.
Although the Tyrant's rule had led to a survival-of-the-fittest society where the common people suffered under oppression, it still provided a form of governance and unified leadership.
Now that the dictatorship of the Tyrant has been overthrown, it may seem like a good thing, but in reality, no new regime has been established.
The heroes who defeated the Demon King are, after all, visitors from another world, and they neither have the energy nor the ability to stay in this world for an extended period, let alone manage or rule it.
And the Tyrant's subordinates were never good people to begin with; they only appeared loyal due to the Tyrant's intimidating power. Once the heavy burden on their heads was gone, the hearts of the Dark Elves naturally became more active.
In this day and age, anyone with a few followers or some skill at card games considers themselves the successor to the Tyrant.
You Xuan had, in fact, already considered this situation.
Amun Galam is the ideal candidate for this throne.
In the original story, this was also Amun's new goal. In the real world, even without considering the lack of opportunities for him to become king or establish an equal new world, just within his own corporation, it would be difficult for him to oust his brother and take his place.
If he had followed his original life path, the most likely outcome would have been living forever in his brother's shadow, serving as the most capable vassal, doing the most arduous tasks. However, his original wish would have become a darkness within his heart, suppressed deep within, growing larger over time, and potentially becoming a shadow that haunted him for life.
In the original story, it was Yubel who unearthed this darkness.
Upon arriving at Duel Academy and encountering Yubel, Amun was able to break free from his original life path. He saw a brand new world, one with fertile ground for him to showcase his abilities. He was willing to do anything to become king in this world, even sacrificing his love if necessary.
However, Amun's ending in the entire anime is rare. At the end of the alternate dimension arc, most of those who perished in this chapter were saved and returned to their world. But among them, it seemed, were neither Amun nor his love.
Perhaps they died, their ideals buried in a foreign land. Or perhaps they remained in that dimension, and the subsequent story was simply not shown in the anime.
For the alternate world, this means there is a capable leader to save the common people from their suffering. For You Xuan, giving Amun this opportunity also facilitates further exploration of the Elf Dimension and makes it easier to understand what is happening in the neighboring dimension and to acquire resources.
For Amun, this is his best chance to overcome his greatest shadow and reclaim his ideals.
It's a win-win for everyone.
Additionally, now that the Tyrant has been dealt with, You Xuan is most interested in a few remaining matters in the neighboring dimension.
For example, Super Polymerization. In the original story, this card, created by the elite of the Dark World under the Tyrant's command and possessing divine power, also represented Jaden's inner darkness. Now that the Tyrant's power has been absorbed by Jaden, the key to printing Super Polymerization should still lie with Jaden, although clues to its creation can still be sought in the alternate dimension.
Of course, if it still requires sacrificing teammates or feeding souls, then this broken card is not worth the trouble.
In the final battle between Yubel and Jida, Yubel initially intended to activate Super Fusion, fusing one monster from each of the twelve stars—and by extension, merging all twelve Elf Dimensions. This would have summoned a God-like monster of immense power.
However, to this day, we still don't know the exact appearance of that card; we only know it's a twelve-star monster, and summoning it would undoubtedly be impressive. You Xuan is intrigued by the existence of such a God-like monster, but it's evident that finding this creature won't be easy. So, he merely contemplates the idea, deciding to continue his exploration in the alternate dimension to uncover related clues, albeit without holding out too much hope.
In the end, what remains is his keenest interest: the Dark Magician from the animation, inhabited by a spirit and wielding the power of Aiksidia, a genuine God-like super spirit. This power, too, should be dormant somewhere within this alternate dimension.
In the original work, Amun's acquisition of Aiksidia's power is significantly linked to Yubel. Therefore, You Xuan is also considering that once he captures Yubel, he could send her to the alternate world to work, but first, he needs to eliminate the Light of Annihilation possessing her and restore her to normalcy.
Once her mind is restored, Yubel should be entirely devoted to Jida. Getting Yubel to work shouldn't be difficult.
Returning from the alternate dimension to reality, the abandoned dormitory is already surrounded by a group of people.
Dressed in black combat gear and armed with firearms, the warriors have blocked all exits. A capable woman in a uniform is leading the operation, anxiously directing the search for Amun.
You Xuan immediately recognizes her as Aiko, the woman deeply in love with Amun, willing to sacrifice everything for him. In the original work, it was Aiko who was offered as a sacrifice to release the seal on the old Aiko, and grant Amun the power of the Aiksidia spirit.
Well, just like Super Fusion, although You Xuan desires the old Aiko's spirit, he's not willing to sacrifice his loved ones for his goals. Such obsession may be admirable in a certain sense, but for You Xuan, it's not the path of a king, or at least not his chosen path.
If even the closest and dearest are sacrificed, what's the point of gaining invincible power?
"Amun!" Aiko, in a state of panic, spots Amun and rushes towards him.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
"Your signal suddenly disappeared in the abandoned dormitory, and our equipment was disrupted by an unknown darkness. I thought..." Aiko trails off, her eyes widening in shock.
For standing behind Amun is none other than Torikage Yuxuan, the legendary overlord of this forbidden land.
"It's you!" Aiko exclaims, her tension palpable. The soldiers, equally on edge, turn their guns towards Torikage.
But Torikage hasn't reacted yet. Instead, Amun steps forward and shouts, "How dare you!"
The soldiers are taken aback, and Aiko, too, turns to Amun in confusion.
Amun stands protectively in front of Torikage and says, "This is the Duel King, Torikage Yuxuan. Show some respect and pay your respects!"
Aiko is bewildered, mouth agape.
Wait, didn't Amun mention something about meeting this Torikage Yuxuan before coming here?
How did he become a king in just a few minutes?
