Chapter 854: A Class Full of Incidents
Chapter 854: A Class Full of Incidents
With a dizzying whirl, scenes flashed through Harry's mind like a movie.
At five, he watched Dudley riding a new red bicycle, filled with jealousy... At nine, he was chased up a tree by the dog Ripper, while the Dursleys laughed on the lawn... At eleven, he wore the Sorting Hat, hearing it say he could go to Slytherin...
These buried secrets were being dug up one by one, and Harry, maintaining the last shred of clarity, struggled to stop it, but to no avail.
Soon, more memories flooded back, and in a daze, Harry felt as if he were back on that first night of school, listening to the Aurors from the Ministry of Magic read Dumbledore's will... Then he ran out of the Great Hall alone, encountering Fawkes the Phoenix...
No, this can't go any further. Professors Dumbledore said this must be kept secret from everyone...
Harry struggled frantically, trying to break free from this state. Perhaps his efforts had some effect, as the surroundings began to blur, but his body seemed to be controlled by an unseen force, following Fawkes the Phoenix step by step...
While resisting with all his might, Harry desperately recalled the notes Ivan had given him, remembering that he could not only resist in his mind but also disrupt Legilimency by attacking the caster directly!
Realizing this, Harry focused all his attention on his right hand, and his real body mirrored the same movement in the memory space. He strained to lift his hand, aiming at the direction where he remembered Snape was, and shouted the spell.
"Expelliarmus!"
A crimson beam flashed through the air.
Suddenly, the scene before Harry's eyes shattered, and he found himself back in Snape's office, with a dark, long object flying towards him.
Harry instinctively caught it and looked down to see it was a wand.
"Bring it over!" Snape's harsh voice echoed from the darkness.
Harry looked up sharply, and in the dark shadows, Snape's figure gradually became visible. He looked disheveled, clearly hit by Harry's Disarming Charm.
"Feeling pretty clever, are you, Potter?" Snape strode forward, snatching his wand back and staring intently at Harry, demanding an answer.
"I didn't!" Harry retorted angrily. "You said I could use other methods to resist your spell... I thought that included casting one on you..."
"That's not an excuse to attack a professor! And the Dark Lord won't stand idly by while you cast spells at him..." Snape growled.
"You didn't stand idly by either! I resisted your magic!" Harry glared at Snape, speaking stiffly.
"Nonsense! Your poor spellcasting skills won't help you against anyone!" Snape roared, seeming ready to say more but holding back. Instead, he asked darkly, "I saw Fawkes in your memories. Where was it planning to take you? Was it Dumbledore's order?"
"There was no Fawkes, nothing at all. I deliberately constructed that memory to lure you into it..." Harry forced his face to remain expressionless, speaking dryly and avoiding Snape's gaze.
"Don't even think about lying to me! I know Occlumency far better than you do!" Snape said coldly. "Dumbledore must have left you something, right? Or perhaps he had some other plans? I should have known, he would never overlook you..."
Harry gripped his wand tightly, saying nothing.
"It doesn't matter if you don't speak. I can always find out for myself!" A twisted smile appeared on Snape's face.
"And then you'd tell Voldemort, right?" Harry shouted, challenging Snape.
Snape's expression froze.
Harry glared at Snape with anger. "I saw everything. Last summer, you healed Voldemort's injury and discussed how to free the prisoners from Azkaban... And you've been with Voldemort for the past few days..."
"So you've been delving into the Dark Lord's mind again during this time?" Snape's eyes flickered, his tone laced with disdain. "I believe Dumbledore warned you not to try that again. It seems you haven't listened to a word."
I can't control those dreams! Harry felt frustrated, but he refused to show any weakness in front of Snape. Instead, he retorted, "If I hadn't entered Voldemort's mind, I wouldn't have seen you groveling before him!"
"Obviously, you only see what the Dark Lord wants you to see!" Snape cut in, interrupting Harry. "You lack the ability to discern truth from lies, Potter! You can't tell what's real and what's not..."
"But I never expected you to understand that, given your years of foolishness, just like your arrogant and self-important father!" Snape sneered.
Harry trembled with rage, clenching his wand so hard he wanted to strike Snape again. But a sliver of reason told him that Snape was deliberately provoking him. If he acted first, Snape would have a reason to punish him.
However, his restraint did nothing to stop Snape, who raised his hand and barked, "Give it to me!"
"What?" Harry, still fuming, ignored Snape's demand.
"To prevent you from losing control, I believe you don't need your wand for the rest of the lesson", Snape explained calmly.
"That's not fair! How am I supposed to defend myself against your magic without a wand?" Harry stepped back, glaring at Snape in anger.
"Use your mind, of course!" Snape said sternly. "If you don't want me to see certain memories, you need to clear your mind or use your will to drive me out... The Dark Lord won't stand in front of you and cast spells!"
Harry stood there, hesitating. It took a long while, and only when Snape grew impatient and seemed ready to take action, did Harry reluctantly hand over his wand.
He knew that in a situation where Snape was prepared, he had no chance of defeating him.
"Ivan, Ron, and Hermione know I'm practicing magic in your office tonight!" Harry said suddenly after Snape took his wand, his tone filled with a warning. If he didn't return in a while, Ivan and the others would certainly inform the Ministry of Magic.
