Chapter 853: The World Needs a King
Chapter 853: The World Needs a King
"Huff... huff..."
Amun knelt on the ground, gasping for breath. His clothes were drenched in sweat, as if he had just emerged from a pool of water. But it wasn't physical torture that caused this; it was entirely mental. He felt like he couldn't stand on his own two feet, and this was the most exhausted he had ever felt in his life.
"Is this... a Dark Duel?" Amun muttered.
But he quickly dismissed the thought.
"No, the Duel itself isn't a Dark Duel. The damage from the virtual images is normal, and it hasn't caused any additional strain on my body."
Just as You Xuan had said, it was the "Dark Minigame" inserted into the middle of the Duel.
You Xuan used his dark power to reflect Amun's life through his card deck, forcing him to confront his life and inner self through an infinite shuffling loop. This caused Amun's suppressed true nature to resurface, reminding him of his initial ideals and desires.
"It seems you've remembered, Amun Galam," You Xuan said as he approached and extended his hand to Amun, who was still crouching on the ground.
Amun hesitated, looking at the outstretched hand with uncertainty.
Instead of taking the hand, he hesitated for a moment before asking, "You're not planning to kill me, are you?"
You Xuan raised an eyebrow. "Why would I want to kill you?"
"Or... throw me into the eternal darkness?" Amun asked.
You Xuan's expression became even more peculiar. "What's in it for me?"
The Eye, floating nearby, smiled so hard its eyes turned into crescent moons. "It seems someone's reputation in the outside world is not so great."
Amun furrowed his brows. "Then why aren't you taking my Cloud Beast deck?"
"Your Cloud Beast deck isn't some rare, limited edition. Why would I bother? It's not like I'm just randomly confiscating people's decks."
You Xuan frowned. "I only confiscate the decks of those who commit great crimes. It's called seizing the tools of the crime."
Amun: ". "
His expression showed a lack of trust.
You Xuan sighed. "There's no more righteous Duelist than me. How did I end up sounding like a villain to you?"
Amun wanted to say something but stopped.
No, you looked pretty evil when you were Dueling just now, he thought. It seemed like someone lacked a proper sense of self-awareness, but he decided to keep quiet, considering his position.
Now he understood that the Duel they had just engaged in wasn't really a fair contest.
Previously, Amun believed he possessed the potential of a King. Whether it was leadership skills or Dueling prowess, he considered himself one in a million. He thought his strength was unmatched, but he simply didn't enjoy competing for fame and glory in world-class tournaments.
If he were to compare himself, he believed he was already among the world's top tier.
However, he now realized he was wrong. He had been living in a bubble.
The person before him hadn't even exerted himself fully, or more accurately, he hadn't pushed himself to win. From the very beginning, he never considered the possibility of losing.
He hadn't made any preparations or considerations for the sake of victory.
But there were still things he didn't understand.
Amun looked up at You Xuan, puzzled.
"Why?"
You Xuan tilted his head. "What?"
"Why do all this?" Amun asked. "Why force me to re-examine my life and remember the forgotten parts? Why make me face the darkest parts of my inner self?"
He couldn't comprehend it.
After all, he was just an intruder, trying to trespass on someone else's territory.
Why would I do this to myself? And even if I could help myself see these things, what's the point? Does he want to encourage me to take my brother's place and control the entire Galam Corporation?
At this thought, Amon felt it was indeed possible. He lifted his head and furrowed his brows, looking at You Xuan.
"Are you aiming for the Galam Corporation?"
You Xuan laughed at his question.
"Maybe you think of yourselves as a world-class conglomerate," You Xuan shrugged. "But the Kaiba Corporation and the International Fantasy Society owe me a lot of favors. I can basically command most of their resources at will.
So, to be honest, the so-called 'megalithic cartel' in your eyes is dispensable to me."
Amon frowned at the disdain shown towards his family, feeling slightly displeased. However, he didn't say anything at the moment.
"Then why..."
You Xuan didn't answer his question but interrupted, "In this world, your path to kingship is blocked.
Even if you have the talent, the resources, and the potential, you can't overcome the hurdle in your mind."
You Xuan said, "You can't bring yourself to take action against your brother and seize what belongs to him. Moreover..."
He paused and smiled.
"Even if you did, the achievements you could attain in this world are ultimately limited. In the end, this world doesn't need a king."
Amon furrowed his brows, "What are you trying to say?"
"I'm giving you an opportunity."
You Xuan took a step back, revealing what was behind him.
It was a circular void.
It was as if a rift had opened in space, forming a massive vortex. The vortex was filled with flickering electricity, like a gateway to a profound abyss.
Amon's pupils constricted slightly.
"This is..."
"Another world," You Xuan said, "A world that needs a king and where a true king can emerge. Want to take a look?"
Amon remained silent for a few seconds.
Then, he finally grasped You Xuan's hand, stood up, and followed him towards the vortex.
A sense of weightlessness instantly enveloped him, and all the images before his eyes abruptly vanished. He felt as if he were in free fall, enduring an endless drop that seemed to pull his internal organs out of his body.
When he came to his senses, he found himself standing on a massive rock.
It seemed to be the peak of a small hill. Looking around, he saw a hazy sky and desolate land. Smoke and clouds connected the horizon, shrouding everything in darkness.
Amon: "Where is this?"
"A dimension filled with power and miracles," You Xuan said softly, his hands in the pockets of his trench coat. "There used to be a Supreme King here.
The King ruled with absolute violence and tyranny, where the strong did as they pleased, and the weak were oppressed. This was the normal order of things in this world."
"But now, the King has been overthrown. However, the fall of the dictatorship doesn't bring dawn to the people; instead, it brings more chaos."
"All those who possess some power believe they could be the next tyrant. They wage wars, seize territories, and fight for resources, creating chaos that surpasses even the tyrant's reign."
"Overthrowing the dictator is just the first step; it's not the solution to the problem. To truly solve the issues here, we need..."
Before You Xuan could finish, Amon interjected, "We need a true king, one who can establish an equal and ideal new world, a benevolent ruler."
As he spoke, his eyes lit up with a fervent glow.
