Chapter 852: Knowledge is the Foundation of a Wizard's Power
Chapter 852: Knowledge is the Foundation of a Wizard's Power
At exactly 3 a.m., after agreeing on the time for their next meeting, Ivan bid farewell to the Spectral Lady and returned to the boys' dormitory alone, carrying Ravenclaw's Crown.
Throughout the journey, Ivan's mind was preoccupied with the possibility, even tentatively calling out to the System for answers.
However, the System ignored him, let alone provided any answers to his questions.
In the end, Ivan had no choice but to give up in frustration, temporarily setting aside those unfounded speculations to be verified another day.
After all, he currently had many more pressing issues to deal with, leaving him little energy to seek out those answers.
The most important of these was figuring out how to eliminate Voldemort.
Otherwise, having such a powerful Dark Wizard lurking in the shadows, plotting and scheming, would make it impossible to sleep soundly.
The safety of Asia and the others was also a concern. Although they all had Magic Marks, which would allow him to arrive immediately if they were in danger, their strength was not on the same level as Voldemort's.
If the Dark Lord were to launch a surprise attack, Asia and the others might not even have the time to send a signal...
Unfortunately, Ivan had no way to counter the Fidelius Charm, and could only hope for some good news from Snape.
Moreover, with his current strength, it would not be easy to stop Voldemort in a fight, especially if the Dark Lord was intent on fleeing.
The battle with Dumbledore had made Ivan acutely aware of his own shortcomings.
However, his current strength was already formidable, and there were only two paths to further improvement.
One was to continue fusing more bloodlines, hoping to gain even more powerful blood magic. The other was to focus on consolidating his foundation, developing his existing bloodline powers, and increasing his knowledge.
The former would yield the quickest results, but obtaining Legendary Points was difficult. The latter required only time and effort, but would take years to show significant results.
Of course, Ivan did not need to choose between the two, as he always pursued both paths simultaneously.
This was also the reason why he was eager to graduate from Hogwarts. The advanced courses offered little benefit to his growth, and continuing to attend classes would only waste his time.
His desire to become a Professor was to remain in the castle.
Hogwarts possessed the largest library in all of Europe, and the Restricted Section housed a vast collection of ancient and dangerous magic books, some of which had been in the library for over a thousand years.
Ivan was absolutely certain that if he could read and understand all the books in the Restricted Section, his understanding of magic would surpass that of any living wizard!
The importance of a solid foundation was undeniable, and Dumbledore was the best example. In the previous battle, the old professor did not use any bizarre or varied blood magic, yet the oppressive aura he exuded left an indelible impression on Ivan.
Perhaps, as the old professor had said, knowledge is the foundation of a wizard's power!
Even his method of fusing bloodlines to enhance himself was, in essence, a form of knowledge passed down from Slytherin.
As a student, Ivan had to sneak into the Restricted Section to read a few books, avoiding detection by Madam Pince.
But as a Professor, he would have the right to access the Restricted Section at any time and consult the books as needed.
As long as the schedule is relaxed, there’s still plenty of free time.
Ivan also wanted to see if he could complete the Quest to form a House-Elf army.
...
The next morning, Ivan yawned as he got out of bed. He had spent the night with a female ghost, staying up until the early hours of the morning, which was quite taxing on his body.
Harry, Seamus, and the others were already used to this. They had been living together for almost five years and knew Ivan’s habit of going out at night. When he was sluggish in the morning, it usually meant he had been out playing the night before.
"We’d better hurry. Today’s Defense Against the Dark Arts class is being taught by Professor Snape", Seamus hurriedly put on his school uniform and shouted to the others.
Harry and the others didn’t dare to delay; no one wanted to be late for Professor Snape’s class.
Ivan slowly got up from his bed, lazily waving his wand. The robe hanging on the rack floated over to him, and the blankets and pillows behind him neatly folded themselves and arranged themselves on the bedside.
The convenience and speed of magic were evident. If it weren’t for his habits, Ivan could have used a cleaning spell to replace his morning routine.
Harry, Seamus, and Neville watched enviously as Ivan effortlessly handled these chores with a flick of his wand. At their level of magic, they couldn’t manage such precise tasks.
"What are you all staring at? We’ll be late if we don’t leave soon", Ivan reminded them. After a moment’s thought, he also grabbed the Ravenclaw Crown of Wisdom from the drawer.
They rushed out, had breakfast, and then hurried to the Potions classroom, managing to sit in their seats just before the class bell rang.
Since the former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Umbridge, was forcibly taken away by the Ministry of Magic’s Aurors for colluding with the Dark Lord, the position had remained vacant.
The Ministry of Magic couldn’t find a suitable replacement immediately, so they had to assign other professors to cover the classes temporarily.
Unfortunately, the fifth-year students were assigned to Professor Snape for this subject, and Harry and the others had complained about this for days when they found out.
However, for Ivan, it didn’t matter who taught the class. In fact, Snape was better because he knew when to be pragmatic. Even if Ivan daydreamed during his class, Snape would simply pretend not to notice.
With this in mind, Ivan found a corner seat in the classroom, put on the Ravenclaw Crown, and opened a magic book he had borrowed from the Restricted Section, engrossing himself in it.
As Ivan had expected, Professor Snape didn’t even glance his way during the entire Defense Against the Dark Arts class, as if he didn’t exist.
However, Ivan’s blatant daydreaming caught the attention of a few Slytherin students. They frequently turned to look at the corner and even whispered to Snape to report him.
"Hals solved a Norwegian Ridgeback on his own last year. Are you planning to try that too?" Snape looked at the Slytherin students with a cold, icy gaze, as if he would really bring a dragon to class if they nodded.
The few students shrank back and quickly shut their mouths.
Snape probably realized that letting Ivan daydream was unusual, so he paused and explained, "Hals is preparing to graduate this year, so I’ve allowed him to study for his exams during my class."
