Chapter 848: The Allied Mission
Chapter 848: The Allied Mission
In a certain stronghold, a gathering place for the Twelve Earthly Branches, two of the Earthly Branches appeared together.
Chou and Mao, the two Earthly Branches, found themselves face to face, not by prior arrangement but by pure coincidence. They decided to sit and chat, exchanging a few words.
The search for the new Earthly Branch had been ongoing for several days, to be honest, not a very long time. They hadn't expected to find anything so soon.
As they continued their search, news arrived from the Rat Earthly Branch. He had already scouted two suitable candidates.
Upon hearing this news, several members of the Earthly Branches, including the one before Chou, smirked.
"Just got word that Rat has found two suitable candidates."
"That's great. Our workload will be significantly reduced; we just need to find two more." Chou remained calm, showing no particular reaction to the news.
Mao, sitting across from Chou, gave a playful smirk: "Is it that good? Rat's eating habits are a bit hard to watch. Let's just stuff two people in."
At Mao's words, Chou was startled, not expecting such directness. But he quickly responded: "Your words are out of line. Rat is doing this for the Earthly Branches' development."
"Is that so? Not at all. The Earthly Branches are already very strong. If we add two more, will it be a one-man show?" Mao's gaze turned cold, his voice icy.
"The Earthly Branches are our shared creation. But look at the current state of the Earthly Branches. If this continues, it won't be long before the Earthly Branches become yours alone. We might get a cleansing at any time." Mao's eyes narrowed, his voice cold.
"What are you thinking? Rat is our brother; he won't do such a thing."
Chou's gaze flickered, but he nodded in agreement.
As Chou spoke, the atmosphere grew silent. Mao glanced at Chou, and after a moment, he suddenly laughed: "Perhaps, never mind. So, how's your situation? Any progress these days?"
"I've found a target. She has great talent, but I'm still assessing her heart."
Hearing Chou's reply, Mao's lips curled slightly upward: "Is that so? Then you must work hard. Three out of four slots are already taken. I should also put in some effort and contribute to the organization."
"Let's go, time to work!" Mao stood up, stretching his back before heading out of the stronghold.
Watching Mao's departing figure, Chou's gaze turned sharp. After a moment of contemplation, he too turned and left.
After they both left, a figure in a black robe appeared in their place.
In a flash, the black-robed figure vanished from their original spot.
...
Luoyang, Bingzhou, Beifeng City.
Opening treasure chests, Lu HaiKong was about to embark on the Allied Mission, his final task before the mission. Or perhaps, his preparation for the mission.
Initially, Lu HaiKong had hoped to find useful items from the treasure chests, preferably something to aid him in completing the Allied Mission. The mission seemed to require a considerable amount of time, indicating its complexity. Being prepared was always beneficial.
However, Lu HaiKong's luck remained unchanged, as he had never gotten what he wished for from treasure chests before. Disappointment was nothing new, and he had become immune to it.
After opening the treasure chests, Lu HaiKong returned to the Assembly Hall.
When Lu HaiKong arrived at the Assembly Hall, the little ancestor was already asleep. The effects of Shen Xian Zui, a sleeping potion, were evident. This little ancestor only needed three sips to fall into a deep slumber.
In her sleep, the little ancestor was unusually calm and adorable. Lu HaiKong gently carried her to her small room and carefully tucked her in.
After settling the little ancestor, Lu HaiKong set out to put the remaining two little ancestors to bed.
However, these two little ancestors were still full of energy, and the task proved challenging. Hu Cheng Shou, the guardian beast, didn't have high sleep requirements, making Lu HaiKong's mission a difficult one.
After several unsuccessful attempts to get the two little ancestors to sleep, Lu HaiKong had no choice but to resort to force. He picked up one of the little ancestors and threw them into the room, displaying a hint of eagle-dad's charisma.
After dealing with the energetic little ancestors, Lu HaiKong entered his room and opened his attributes panel, focusing on the 'Job Change' mission.
Title: The Land Beyond: A City's Rise
Chapter 1: The Task Unveiled
Lu HaiKong, the renowned leader of Bingzhou, found himself intrigued by a peculiar task that appeared on his interface. The task, a professional one, required him to construct a city beyond the borders of the Great Han Empire. With a special item in his possession, the 'Domain City Construction Order', the task underwent a sudden change, leaving Lu HaiKong slightly bewildered. The system, detecting the unique item, altered the task's parameters, a rare occurrence for Lu HaiKong.
The task's description was brief: construct a city outside the empire's borders, at least a county-level city. The reward: a promotion to Marquis, with a risk-free conversion of troops and generals.
"Is that all?" Lu HaiKong wondered, surprised by the task's apparent simplicity.
However, upon closer inspection, he realized the task was far more complex than it seemed. Building a city, in his experience, was never as easy as the description implied.
Lu HaiKong, the master of Bingzhou, had his hands full managing the vast region. Still, he preferred this task over the typical dungeon-crawling ones. He had prepared for this moment, gathering resources and scouting locations.
"This task might be more challenging than it seems," Lu HaiKong thought. "I wouldn't be surprised if we encounter monsters or face a siege after the city is built."
Despite the potential difficulties, Lu HaiKong was undaunted. He had no choice but to follow the system's directives, and he believed there was more to this task than met the eye.
As the night deepened, Lu HaiKong, ever the diligent leader, began his preparations without delay. He spread out the map of the outer grasslands, ready to embark on the construction of a city that would shape his destiny.
