Chapter 846: Demon God of Evil Spirits, Demonic Warrior
Chapter 846: Demon God of Evil Spirits, Demonic Warrior
Kuro naturally employed the hallucinatory effects of his Killing Intent.
Combining his Swordsmanship, Killing Intent, and his newfound ability to manipulate air, along with the Yokai Blade, he had finally forged this potent Killing Intent illusion.
But this fellow’s physical body was absurdly resilient. Even though Giruon’s body back at Gran Tesoro had been formidable, Bartholomew was on an entirely different level.
Though Kuro had sliced Bartholomew open, the opponent’s full-body Haki Encasement and Conqueror’s Haki-wielding consciousness allowed only a sliver of Kuro’s Killing Intent to seep through.
Every bit of that accumulation had been earned through relentless strikes—until now, finally enabling him to conjure a hallucination potent enough to affect Bartholomew.
This single slash would be decisive!
The blade cleaved downward, aimed straight at Bartholomew’s head.
Bartholomew’s eyes widened as he stood frozen, watching the blade descend.
No time to dodge.
With the blade’s sharpness amplified by Kuro’s Haki, a head strike would inflict grave injury.
Then—
Boom!!!
Kuro’s slash struck Bartholomew’s forehead, driving him deep into the earth, carving a massive crater into the battlefield.
Kuro flicked the Yokai Blade clean, eyes locked onto the crater’s depths.
Did it hit?
It should have. But the sensation was unmistakably like striking something solid.
Rumble…
The ground suddenly trembled violently.
The next instant, Kuro’s pupils constricted. Instinctively, he soared skyward, raising the Yokai Blade to unleash a wispy slash.
Boom!!!
A shockwave erupted from the crater—a wave of blue-flame-like energy—shattering the surrounding terrain. It slammed into Kuro’s slash, engulfing him in an explosion as he hurtled backward into the heavens.
Yet the shockwave shattered into shards. Kuro burst through, diving rapidly from the sky, landing heavily with fresh wounds marring his body.
“Air currents? No—his ability fused with air itself, layered with Haki… and more—” Kuro gazed into the crater, realization dawning. His expression darkened. “Damn it, he’s cheating!”
Crash!!!
The crater exploded outward, the devastation intensifying. A wisp-like blue-black figure shot skyward, hovering midair as if weightless.
Bartholomew’s form had undergone a complete transformation.
His black-blue body, now seemingly his very skin, had swollen to multiple times its original size. His once-yellow hair blazed like blue flames across his back, a burning mantle. The hair ribbon was gone, letting the strands atop his head ignite into a fiery crown.
He opened his mouth—his teeth sharpened into fangs by what looked like Haki or something darker. Two jagged fangs protruded from his lower lip.
Now he looked the part of a demon god incarnate, crackling with arcs of blue lightning across his body.
Conqueror’s Haki—fully encased!
“Hah!” Bartholomew loomed over Kuro, his voice a thunderous blend of a hundred echoes.
“How will you counter this, Kuro?!”
He clenched his fist. Blue flames surged from his arm, darkening into something viscous and warped, like thick sludge exuding a sinister blue-black hue.
Fusing his Devil Fruit’s ability with the surrounding air, amplified by Conqueror’s Haki combustion and Unified Haki!
“Atomic Collapse!!!”
The fist plunged downward, unleashing a shockwave more violent than before—a colossal pillar of destruction aimed squarely at Kuro.
Boom!!!
The ground erupted into a circular devastation, sending a mushroom-shaped cloud spiraling skyward. The blast’s force whipped hair and clothes into a frenzy, obscuring sight with a storm of sand and smoke.
“Not good!!!”
Crocodile’s face contorted as he slammed a hand onto the ground, activating his ability.
As the smoke cleared, the crater expanded further, revealing an inland sea where the surface had collapsed. The surrounding land had caved into a massive chasm.
Except for Dracule Mihawk, everyone else instinctively swallowed hard.
Too much power!
Kuro emerged from the mushroom cloud’s edge, his uninjured hand still clenched, desperately holding the island together through sheer ability.
He’d dodged the worst of the attack, but without his power stabilizing the land, the island would’ve been obliterated.
He glanced at the newly expanded desert below—then at Crocodile.
The latter had helped stabilize the island as well.
“Hey, are you going to fight or not?” Kuro glared upward, voice grim.
Bartholomew descended, landing heavily on the sand.
He tilted his head back, smirking at Kuro with a strange curve to his lips. “Let’s see… if you can stop me.”
Kuro inhaled sharply, swinging the Yokai Blade sideways to face Bartholomew. “Don’t get too arrogant.”
The blade’s edge shimmered with a chilling sharpness. Its back darkened with energy, the blade itself glowing crimson. Killing Intent laced with Haki spiraled along its surface like a coiled serpent.
Kuro’s body began to change. His eyes turned gruesome, pupils bleeding crimson. Faint white energy coiled around him, warping his features. The tear streaks beneath his eyes curved from the corners of his eyes to his cheeks like crescent moons.
His Haki dissipated, replaced by shoulder guards extending from his upper arms—black-red armor swelling outward, blending Haki and Killing Intent into a plated cuirass adorned with a sun emblem across the chest, flowing into a skirt-like war-armor down to his waist.
Now clad in a pitch-black crimson armor, his face twisted into a demonic visage—a true demonic warrior forged from Killing Intent and Haki’s fusion!
A full-body encasement!
This form incorporated the Sazil family’s inherited Nailsfist Technique. Kuro had long analyzed its recoil characteristics, though it had proven useless against Bartholomew until now, when refined through Killing Intent’s power.
This was Kuro’s ultimate state—a culmination of all his strengths!
“Oh?!” Bartholomew’s eyes widened in exhilaration. “That’s more like it, Kuro! Let’s fight until we’re both exhausted!”
Kuro gripped the Yokai Blade, suddenly slashing forward.
A massive crimson slash, edged in gold, sliced through the air like thunder.
Bartholomew bent his body, narrowly dodging the wispy slash.
Boom!!!
The strike carved through the island’s surface as effortlessly as a blade through butter, slicing off a third of the island’s area and sending it adrift.
And in that direction—
Bartholomew glanced back. Navy forces and others stood on that severed landmass, now isolated by the slash’s impact.
“Heh heh heh…” Bartholomew chuckled lowly, turning to Kuro. “You finally realized it—weaklings only hold you back. Only alone can one rise without restraint.”
“Wasting breath on chatter like that—”
Kuro tightened his grip on the Yokai Blade, voice cold. “Why not focus on dying with dignity instead?!”
