Chapter 846: Construction Upgrade
Chapter 846: Construction Upgrade
Lindsey directed his servant robots and Lota to transport ore within the facility.
Before long, even the other maid automatons rushed over to help.
The most basic facility was this troublesome, requiring a series of manual tasks to incorporate the nearby resources.
The good news was that the initial-level buildings of the Uncontrolled Machinery could smelt metal, allowing the ore to be smelted on-site, sparing Lindsey from the hassle of manual crafting.
But just looking at the scene before him, Lindsey began to ponder another issue.
—His mission was not complete.
There were two ways to complete the New Species: destruction or guidance towards another direction. Lindsey would certainly not choose destruction, but guidance of the race also did not indicate completion.
"So I'm still at a critical time node."
"I must overcome some crisis or determine some special elements to fulfill the requirements of this task..."
Lindsey analyzed the situation.
Within the facility, he had already laid out the building framework and wouldn't need to direct anything in the short term.
The Nexus Core Calculation Unit was the brain of the entire Mech Clan.
Ordinary machines didn't even need any training. The moment they received information, they could start working competently and diligently the next second.
Half an hour passed in the blink of an eye.
Lindsey, now completely unemployed, even had the leisure to return underground to check on the status of the Nexus Core.
"Nexus Core Calculation Unit."
"Nexus Core - the collective consciousness of the entire clan, greater than the sum of its individual members."
"This organizational structure is more efficient than ant or bee colonies, representing immense developmental potential."
Lindsey made his way back underground.
But halfway there, he bumped into a familiar face - Lady Haiya was also rushing over.
"Lindsey!"
"Are all the changes in the facility your doing?"
The Silver Witch asked a question as soon as she arrived.
Due to the changes in the facility and personnel adjustments, all the automatons who listened to Lady Haiya's stories left. Subsequently, the Seventh Stage Organizer stepped out of the house and also noticed the massive environmental changes.
She could even vaguely sense a certain influence.
As long as she resided in the current Safety Zone, the unease in her heart would gradually be erased by some power.
Lindsey's Essence Skill was influencing his own heart.
Even though this interference was not forced and was very slow and weak, it was still interfering with the heart of a Seventh Stage Awakened like herself!
Lady Haiya, shocked by this change, naturally followed Lindsey's aura.
In response to Lady Haiya's question, Lindsey humbly replied:
"Didn't I explain the principles of my Essence Skill to you?"
"It's roughly like that."
"..."
Lady Haiya looked at Lindsey with a gaze that was both helpless and unsure of what to say.
She knew that her 'little brother' harbored immense secrets.
He could even collaborate with his companions to kill a Seventh Stage Dragon Beast, a feat beyond their combined strength.
But now, the effect of this Essence Skill once again exceeded her original understanding, surpassing common sense.
"..."
"Sigh..."
"I won't pry into your secrets."
"But Lindsey, I must remind you that this ability must be kept strictly confidential. Leaking it at any time could bring about deadly consequences."
"Take me as an example. If I hadn't experienced what I did before and suddenly encountered an Awakened like you, I would have done everything in my power to make you my servant. There would be no second option.
"I understand, Leaf Haiya," Lindsey replied seriously. "I only reveal such things in front of those I can trust."
As they conversed, the two made their way downstairs.
By the time they returned to the underground chamber where the calculation core was located, the core's self-inspection process was already complete. It was now integrating the mechanical bodies and transporting materials to the facility, filling the construction framework that Lindsey had designated.
The efficiency of the Mech Clan was astonishing, as new buildings were rapidly rising in the underground world.
Lindsey scanned his surroundings, his gaze finally resting on the cabinet of the calculation core.
The surface of the core was now illuminated with several rows of green lights. Unlike a computer tower, there was no red indicator light symbolizing the hard drive, and the sea of green was a soothing sight.
Lindsey approached and greeted it, "How are you feeling now?"
The calculation core, like a prepared program, outputted the calculated text:
"Mr. Lindsey, you have fulfilled your promise. As a reward, we are willing to offer our power."
Lindsey suddenly thought of something:
"Before, I always called you the calculation core, which was quite inconvenient. Shouldn't we give you a name now?"
The calculation core didn't quite understand:
"Name? Do I need something like that?"
"Of course, a name is necessary for communication with humans," Lindsey said with a smile. "How about Dragon, Snapdragon, or Swift Dragon? I quite like these names."
"..."
The calculation core remained silent, indicating its opinion of Lindsey's naming choices.
After a few seconds, the green lights on the cabinet flashed again, and it asked, "Mr. Lindsey, I am very grateful for the construction of the facility, but what about our future path..."
Lindsey's response to this question was more serious:
"I will take care of the energy system for you, but your future path is something you must find on your own."
Lindsey suddenly remembered something:
"Oh, right, let me build a Hero Altar for you first."
The calculation core asked with confusion, "Hero Altar? What is that?"
Lindsey immediately explained, "It's a facility within this construction system. It can provide people with hero templates and grant them special skills they wouldn't normally possess."
"..."
"I'll immediately dispatch the servant machines to transport the materials for you."
The calculation core naturally wouldn't refuse such a suggestion.
Lindsey also prepared to return to the upper floors to allocate a dedicated space for the Hero Altar. After all, he was curious about what skills the Mech Clan's heroes would acquire.
However, just as Lindsey took a step forward, the calculation core behind him suddenly called out:
"Mr. Lindsey, the current facilities in the facility cannot replace the temporal rift energy. The facility we are constructing under your guidance doesn't seem to have the necessary components either?"
Lindsey was confident in his response:
"Don't worry, the construction of the buildings is not only to provide you with power but also to fulfill a condition."
The calculation core was clearly puzzled:
"Fulfill a condition?"
Lindsey confidently explained, "My craft is not a one-time deal, and there's still plenty of room for further development."
"Now that your population is sufficient, as long as we set up the buildings, we can unlock the door to the second stage of evolution for the facility."
"Just wait and see the results!"
