Chapter 844: Spirit Herb
Chapter 844: Spirit Herb
"Finally, a new variety of fifth-grade spirit brew after the Ape Demon Wine."
"It's just a shame that there's no corresponding brew recipe."
"I wonder if the remaining Thunder Sword Grass light orbs will reveal any recipes."
Lu Chen thought to himself.
After numerous improvements, he finally obtained a total of twenty fourth-grade Thunder Sword Grass plants, harvesting three and leaving seventeen.
"I'll keep ten for seed cultivation, and see how the other seven can supplement the Thousand Thunder Swords and whether they can unlock the experience package for the True Sword Fluid recipe."
There was still some time before the remaining Thunder Sword Grass matured, so Lu Chen wasn't in a hurry. After tending to them, he returned to his courtyard.
In a quiet and elegant room, he sat cross-legged on a white jade meditation cushion.
Deep within his dantian, a tiny jade mirror floated within a pale green qi sea.
The mirror was deep purple, with subtle thunderfire surging within, looking extremely domineering and fierce. It pushed the Peacock Mingwang Sword and the Gluttonous Worm Pouch, which had always been nurtured in his dantian, into the corners.
This was the seventh-grade treasure, the Nanming Thunderfire Mirror, an extremely powerful offensive item. Among the treasures Lu Chen had obtained from the white light orbs, this was the most formidable so far.
He had been nurturing it in his dantian for several years, and it was just a step away from being refined into a middle-grade magical artifact.
"Usually, only Yuan Ying True Lords are capable of refining middle-grade artifacts. I just happened to possess a seventh-grade treasure, and my spiritual sense and spiritual power far exceed cultivators of the same level, allowing me to refine it successfully by chance."
Lu Chen thought to himself, feeling rather proud.
If he could refine the Nanming Thunderfire Mirror into a magical artifact, his strength would increase significantly.
After completing the refinement, Lu Chen practiced the Shenxiao Zhenfa for a while before heading to the pill refining chamber.
As he stepped in, he felt a slight sensation on his left shoulder, as if something minuscule had landed on it.
He turned his head, but couldn't see anything.
"Little guy, have you not tasted any pill toxins in a while? Are you hungry?"
Through his spiritual sense, Lu Chen perceived the medicinal beast lying on his shoulder, moving sluggishly with little energy.
He had been busy lately and hadn't come to the pill chamber to refine pills for some time, causing the medicinal beast, which had always been well-fed, to feel a bit out of sorts. Its transparent form had even shrunk slightly.
Lu Chen gently soothed the medicinal beast before heading to the center of the pill chamber.
In the very center was a tripod-like, six-eared, red-gold furnace adorned with intricate patterns of flowers, grass, insects, and fish. Within it, a pure white flame burned quietly.
This was the sixth-grade auxiliary treasure, the Primal Yang True Fire Furnace, containing abundant Primal Yang True Fire that could slightly enhance the quality and success rate of pill and artifact refinement.
Lu Chen had been using it frequently ever since he obtained it.
He calmed his mind and gathered his spirit, taking out the numerous spirit herbs he had prepared beforehand and beginning the pill refinement process.
Half a shichen later, Lu Chen walked out of the pill chamber, feeling slightly exhausted.
"Nine furnaces of Foundation Establishment Pills and six furnaces of Dust Cleansing Pills. That should be enough for the shop to go through for quite a while."
He thought to himself.
The next day, as he was inspecting the condition of each spirit herb in his spirit field, a gentle voice sounded from outside his cave abode.
"Friend Lu, Zhang has come again to ask for a few cups of spirit brew."
Hearing this familiar voice, a smile appeared on Lu Chen's face.
The visitor was Zhang Jiuzong of the Hailou Commerce Guild. They had known each other for many years and had a decent relationship.
Every time Zhang Jiuzong visited his cave abode, he would bring rare spirit herbs, so Lu Chen was always happy to offer him cups of spirit brew.
"Friend Zhang, it's been a while. Please come in."
Lu Chen's figure flashed, and he appeared outside the formation, inviting Zhang Jiuzong into his cave abode.
"I recently obtained a type of fifth-grade spirit liquid. I invite you to taste and evaluate it."
"Hmm? Is that sword qi flickering within the spirit liquid?"
Zhang Jiuzong noticed the unusual True Sword Liquid and couldn't help but exclaim softly.
"Indeed, it tastes quite unique and can slightly enhance one's understanding of the sword path." Lu Chen explained briefly.
"Brother Lu is too generous. Such a treasure, I must savor it slowly." Zhang Jiuzong marveled, taking a small sip of the silvery-gray spirit liquid.
"It truly has a distinctive flavor." With his eyes closed, he savored the subtle sword qi stimulating his taste buds and gave his evaluation.
"Since Brother Lu has treated me to such a rare spirit liquid, I, Zhang, cannot let you down." Zhang Jiuzong said mysteriously to Lu Chen.
"What do you mean, Brother Zhang?" Lu Chen asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Take a look." Zhang Jiuzong waved his hand, and two spirit herb seedlings appeared before them. The seedlings were less than three inches tall, pure white, and seemed to be condensed from countless strands of refined primal qi.
"Could these be Primal Spirit Herbs?" Lu Chen guessed.
"Hahaha, Brother Lu, you are indeed the famous spirit herbologist of Liyang. You recognized this exotic spirit herb at a glance." Zhang Jiuzong laughed heartily.
"Well, I had previously asked the Commerce Guild to help me search for this fifth-grade spirit herb, and when I saw it today, it reminded me of that incident, so I guessed its variety." Lu Chen humbly explained, his eyes shining with eagerness as he looked at the Primal Spirit Herb seedlings.
"This realm doesn't have any traces of Primal Spirit Herbs. The Commerce Guild went through a lot of trouble to find them in a foreign cave heaven," Zhang Jiuzong continued. "Unfortunately, we could only gather two seedlings."
"That's more than enough. Having two fifth-grade spirit herb seedlings is already very satisfying for me," Lu Chen quickly replied.
He had already mastered the technique to condense the seeds of the Primal Spirit Herb, and with his ability to monitor the detailed status of spirit herbs, he wouldn't need to worry about the quantity even though condensing fifth-grade spirit seeds was extremely challenging.
"I wonder how many spirit stones these two Primal Spirit Herb seedlings are worth?" Lu Chen asked, his expression turning serious.
"Brother Lu, you're being too polite now. As an honorary consultant of the Commerce Guild, there's no need to discuss spirit stones for a mere two spirit herb seedlings," Zhang Jiuzong feigned anger.
"The Primal Spirit Herb is a high-grade spirit herb, and it's also difficult to obtain since it comes from a foreign cave heaven. Out of fairness and gratitude, I should pay you for them," Lu Chen insisted with a smile.
"I can still make the decision for two fifth-grade spirit herb seedlings," Zhang Jiuzong said.
"If Brother Lu insists on paying with spirit stones, don't blame me for feeling displeased," Zhang Jiuzong added, his expression turning solemn.
"Alright then, thank you for your kindness, Brother Zhang. I'll remember this," Lu Chen said, seeing the seriousness in Zhang Jiuzong's expression and deciding to accept.
"That's more like it. Considering your previous efforts in solving so many spirit herb issues for the Commerce Guild, just take these two spirit herb seedlings as a token of our gratitude," Zhang Jiuzong said.
"I, Lu Chen, will do my utmost to help the Commerce Guild cultivate those high-grade spirit herbs," Lu Chen pledged solemnly.
"Right, Brother Lu, did you send me a message earlier about holding an auction at the Star-Plucking Tower in a few months?" Zhang Jiuzong asked.
"Yes, that's true, but it will just be a small private event. Most of the items will be spirit herbs that I've cultivated, along with some treasures that I've come across by chance. Compared to the Commerce Guild, which has connections throughout the myriad realms, it's nothing much," Lu Chen explained.
"Brother Zhang, please do me the honor of attending the auction when the time comes," Lu Chen requested.
"Of course, I'll definitely be there," Zhang Jiuzong readily agreed.
