Chapter 844: Muzan
Chapter 844: Muzan
Kaori frowned, then smiled at Feng Ye, "Now, now, that doesn't sound like something a god should say. Teasing mortal girls isn't very nice, you know."
"God? I'm just a human, stronger than most." Feng Ye replied with a casual shake of his head. He then turned to look at the pouting Mitsuri Kanroji and smiled, "And Mitsuri, you're my wife now."
Hearing this, Mitsuri's heart, which had been heavy with worry, suddenly lifted, and she beamed with joy once more.
After saying this, Feng Ye stretched lazily and stood up. "Now, we have a guest arriving."
As his words fell, they heard a cautious knock on the door.
Then, from outside, they heard Tanjiro's nervous voice. "Umm, excuse me..."
Standing outside the door was Tanjiro, who had returned from the Infinity Train and had become a pillar. He stood with a wooden box on his back, the container in which Muzan, his sister, lay. He was hesitant and unsure of what to say.
His eyes still held a hint of the shock he had experienced.
A god!
From Urokodaki, he had finally learned of the existence that could possibly restore Muzan to her human form. He had expected this person to be powerful, but he never imagined that they would be a god walking among humans!
Since his childhood, when he had accompanied his father in learning the Fire God's breath style and performed the rituals to honor the gods with utmost seriousness, Tanjiro had always believed in the existence of gods. But the realization that they truly existed was overwhelming, and by the time he arrived at Feng Ye's courtyard, he found himself at a loss for words.
"Yay! You're finally here!"
The door swung open, and Mitsuri appeared, greeting Tanjiro with a smile.
The mysterious sister!
So, she was a god?
Tanjiro became flustered and immediately knelt before Mitsuri, performing the ritual of worship: "I-I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were a god. Forgive my rudeness last time..."
"I'm not a god," Mitsuri giggled, then added, "But I've been keeping an eye on you."
She turned to look at Feng Ye, who had walked over.
Feng Ye glanced at Tanjiro and, without waiting for him to voice his request to save his sister, said gently, "I know why you're here. Leave your sister with me, and I will restore her to her human form."
On his way here, Tanjiro had imagined many terrible outcomes—what if the god refused to help his sister? What if he had to go through even more trials to earn the god's favor? But none of those fears came to pass.
Tanjiro looked up, dumbfounded, not knowing what to say.
It was only when he noticed Kaori standing by Feng Ye's side that he snapped out of his daze and immediately performed the ritual of prostration, knocking his head on the floor so hard that he created a large dent.
"Th-Thank you so much! Or should I say, thank you for the god's grace..." He stumbled over his words, trying to find the right expression.
Feng Ye glanced at Tanjiro and then at the hole he had made in the floor. "You should be called 'Head Pillar' instead of 'Fire Pillar' with that head of yours."
As his words fell, Feng Ye lifted his hand slightly, and the wooden box that Tanjiro had placed beside him floated over and settled into his outstretched hand.
"Good luck!"
Standing beside him, Kanroji Mitsuri gave Tanjiro a thumbs-up and an encouraging smile.
Kanao nodded slightly at Tanjiro.
Soon, everyone returned inside, and the door closed, leaving only a delighted Tanjiro outside.
He firmly believed in what Feng Ye, this 'god', had said. Since Feng Ye promised to cure Nezuko, she would undoubtedly be restored to her human form. From now on, he must perform the annual rituals and offerings with even greater dedication.
Oh, right.
The floor he had accidentally damaged.
Tanjiro quickly looked down at the floor, wondering if he should fix it, but as his eyes fell on the spot, he froze. The damaged floor had somehow silently repaired itself without a trace.
"The power of a god, huh..."
This miraculous scene left him without a doubt or worry in his mind.
He stood up, glanced at the wooden house, clenched his fists, and determination shone in his eyes.
"Nezuko, rest well. I'll work even harder from now on. I'll put an end to all the Demons' suffering, which should never have existed in the first place."
With that, Tanjiro turned and left.
On the other side.
Inside the wooden house, Feng Ye brought the wooden box containing Nezuko inside and placed it on the floor. Before he could even set it down, Kanroji Mitsuri pounced on it, eagerly lifting the lid to reveal a confused-looking Nezuko curled up inside.
Mitsuri couldn't help but reach out and play with the adorable Nezuko, pinching her cheeks and poking her gently. After a while, she even hugged her and started rolling around with her in her arms.
Feng Ye's lips twitched at the sight, as it wasn't his intention for Nezuko to become Mitsuri's plaything.
"Alright, Mitsuri, it's time to turn her back into a human."
"Can't I play with her a little longer? She's so cute like this!"
Mitsuri, with Nezuko in her arms, blinked at Feng Ye pleadingly.
Feng Ye chuckled and said, "Alright, but just for a little while."
After all, there was no rush, and as for Nezuko remembering being played with by Mitsuri... well, with Nezuko's gentle personality, she probably wouldn't 'take revenge' on Mitsuri anyway.
Setting Nezuko's matter aside for now, Feng Ye's gaze turned back to the curtain in the air.
On the curtain.
After leaving the wooden house, Tanjiro embarked on a rigorous training journey with Agatsuma Zenitsu and Hashibira Inosuke. Some time later, the trio received a distress call from the Sound Hashira, Uzui Tengen.
"I apologize for the interruption, Tanjiro. I know you're still in training, but I'm facing a difficult situation here. All the other Hashira who are available are already on missions, so I have no choice but to seek your assistance."
Uzui Tengen had sought out Tanjiro for help.
Even though Tanjiro was a new Hashira and his strength might not match the others, Uzui still treated him as an equal, especially since he was the one asking for help.
Tanjiro readily agreed: "Uzui-san, what can I do to help?"
"The situation is..."
Uzui Tengen proceeded to explain the circumstances in the Red-Light District.
