Chapter 840: A Long-Awaited Sealing Magic (Second Update)
Chapter 840: A Long-Awaited Sealing Magic (Second Update)
"Mind Control!"
As soon as the battle began, Godfrey launched a fierce mental assault on Jerry, just as he had done with the Mars Hunter.
However, a moment later, his expression changed. He realized that no matter how much mental power he directed at Jerry, it seemed to vanish into a bottomless pit, with no response. Jerry continued to look at him with a smiling face.
"As a mage, I have some training in the mental arts. You won't be able to handle me with that."
The mental strength of a single-universe-level powerhouse was on a completely different scale from Godfrey's, both in quantity and quality. Even without actively defending, Jerry was far beyond Godfrey's reach.
"Then try this!"
Instantly, thousands of mental blades coalesced in front of Godfrey, raining down on Jerry in a wide area.
Mental blades ignored physical defenses and greatly reduced the effectiveness of ordinary energy shields. The Mars Hunter had relied on his powerful body to endure such attacks.
"Phantom Shift—Avada Kedavra!"
Jerry didn't waste any words. He instantly teleported behind Godfrey and delivered a strengthened Killing Curse, instantly killing him.
The Killing Curse used against the Witch Corps was divided into ten thousand parts, making it much weaker. Now, focused on Godfrey and enhanced by Jerry, it was guaranteed to be lethal.
"One down!"
After killing Godfrey, Jerry turned to look behind Darkseid.
"Sorry, I couldn't control myself. Next one."
Someone like Godfrey, who could control large areas of the mind, was particularly effective against Kryptonians and needed to be dealt with first.
"Since he can be killed, he has no value. Not bad, now I have some interest in you. If you tell me the location of the Anti-Life Equation, I can offer you a good position in my army."
Seeing Godfrey die, Darkseid didn't get angry. Instead, his gaze towards Jerry showed a hint of appreciation.
In Darkseid's mind, even dark elite soldiers could be discarded if they had no value. His vast army needed capable and decisive subordinates like Jerry.
"I appreciate the offer, Darkseid, but I think we still have a chance."
Jerry shrugged.
Darkseid's eyes narrowed.
"Fine, next one. Mantis, you're up!"
"Yes, Master."
A green-armored, exceptionally strong alien emerged from behind Darkseid.
"My name is Mantis, the strongest warrior under Master's command. I have an absolute defense that cannot be breached. Your magic is useless against me. Just tell me the location of the Anti-Life Equation, and I'll turn you into a pile of meat!"
Mantis walked up to Jerry with a cruel smile, seemingly unconcerned about the magic that had killed Godfrey moments ago.
Having fought for Darkseid across ten thousand universes, no one had ever breached Mantis's defenses. No matter how powerful the enemy, they all ended up dead under his iron fist.
Jerry looked at Mantis, whose fists were nearly as big as his entire body, and rubbed his chin, smiling slightly.
"Let's see, shall we?"
Absolute defense was a claim Jerry had heard many times. If it were truly absolute, Mantis wouldn't be just one of Darkseid's subordinates.
He believed that Darkseid's Omega Beams could break through Mantis's supposed absolute defense.
As long as the attack is powerful enough, there's no such thing as absolute defense.
However, the problem now was that he couldn't display too much power to break through Mantis's absolute defense, or it would certainly raise Darkseid's suspicions.
"Avada Kedavra!"
"Fire Dragon Descent!"
"Thunder Blast!"
Jerry initiated the attack first, launching a series of moderately powerful but conventional magical attacks at Mantis, feigning an all-out assault.
"Are you tickling me?"
Mantis didn't even bother to dodge the incoming spells. Relying on his absolute defense, he easily withstood them all, then swung his massive fist, sending a terrifying wind pressure toward Jerry.
"Phantom Shift."
Jerry quickly cast the spell and teleported away, muttering to himself with relief:
"Phew, that was close. If I had been hit, I would have been dead for sure."
"An ant's petty tricks."
Seeing Jerry disappear, Mantis also vanished.
However, Mantis wasn't using magic or any superpowers. Instead, he relied on the explosive power of his enhanced physical body to reach extreme speeds, making it look like he had teleported.
"Fell for it!"
As Mantis rapidly charged toward him, Jerry chuckled, reaching into the Bell Universe to pull out a massive rice cooker and slamming it into Mantis.
At this speed, Mantis had no time to dodge. He didn't intend to, either, as he planned to punch through the bottom of the rice cooker and continue his attack on Jerry.
His strength was second only to Darkseid. A mere rice cooker couldn't possibly contain him.
"Seal!"
The moment Mantis entered the rice cooker, Jerry immediately closed the lid and activated the long-dormant Seal spell.
The Seal spell was a special magic that sealed both the physical body and the soul. It wasn't offensive and couldn't harm the enemy, but it could imprison them within an object, rendering them unable to move.
Mantis's defense was indeed formidable. Without the Light of the Fairies, it would have been difficult to break through it.
However, Jerry didn't need to break Mantis's defense. He just needed to seal him, ensuring that Mantis wouldn't kill the Kryptonians during his final battle with Darkseid.
Mantis's strength was only slightly below Darkseid's, and he could resist all Kryptonian attacks. No one else could match him.
"Fool!"
Seeing Mantis sealed in the rice cooker due to a moment's carelessness, Darkseid couldn't help but curse.
With Mantis's strength, if he hadn't charged into the rice cooker, he wouldn't have been so easily sealed by magic.
"Phew, that was too close. If Mr. Mantis hadn't been so hasty, I would have lost this round."
Jerry tossed the rice cooker into the Bell Universe and walked forward, somewhat smugly:
"You've lost two already. Who's next?"
"I'll go!"
An elderly man, half of his body covered in machinery, stepped forward.
"I don't have much magic power left, but I'll try to take out two more to give my teammates an advantage."
Jerry didn't waste any words, feigning a brief comment before launching his magical attacks.
After a few rounds, Doctor Chaos, who was skilled in large-scale mind control, was dismembered by Spatial Magic in a seemingly "difficult" battle.
