Chapter 84: Warning
Outside the Chun Yue Building, spies from various factions had waited for some time, their expressions turning increasingly stunned as they saw no sign of the Black Wolf emerging.
Could it be that the Black Wolf Gang dared defy the Wei Family’s orders?
Even the leader of the Yin Yue Wei, a disciplined and composed man, looked taken aback.
Just as he considered storming the building to seize the culprit, several figures suddenly appeared at the entrance of the tower.
The foremost of them, his face etched with a fawning smile, hurried forward with quick, respectful steps.
Bowing deeply, he said, “I did not know the esteemed Yin Yue Wei gentlemen had graced us with your presence. Forgive my lack of proper welcome!”
Behind him, the other deputies of the Black Wolf Gang followed suit, their smiles strained, their postures unnaturally submissive.
Yet the Yin Yue Wei showed no mercy.
The leader, a man wielding a long spear, barked without hesitation: “Black Wolf! Do you know your crime?”
Black Wolf’s heart lurched.
The other deputies of the Black Wolf Gang exchanged alarmed glances.
“Sir, you must be mistaken! I swear I have no idea what offense I’ve committed. Even with ten thousand fears, I would never dare to offend your esteemed household!”
Thud!
Before he could finish speaking, the Yin Yue Wei leader swung his spear backward, the butt end lashing forward with blinding speed—directly striking Black Wolf in the chest.
The attack came without warning, swift and deadly, its technique intricate and precise. Even with his body fully forged through rigorous training, Black Wolf couldn’t react in time.
The impact shattered his defenses. He spat blood violently, his body flying backward, crashing into the wall of the Chun Yue Building and carving out a massive crater.
“Brother!”
The other deputies cried out in shock.
But the violence wasn’t over.
As their cries still echoed, more spear shadows flashed through the air.
One by one, the remaining deputies were struck down, each vomiting blood as they were hurled back, collapsing beside Black Wolf.
The crowd, stunned into silence, could hardly believe their eyes.
No one had expected the Yin Yue Wei to strike so suddenly.
Even less could they believe that the feared Black Wolf—legendary across the western district—had been brought down in a single blow, utterly defenseless.
“Why… why are you doing this?”
Black Wolf, now sprawled on the ground, looked up at the Yin Yue Wei with wide, terrified eyes.
Jin Gu Jing Wan Man!
In that instant, he understood—this man’s cultivation was far beyond his own.
The man had reached the Jin Gu Jing Wan Man realm, the peak of mastery where one’s body and force were perfectly harmonized, movements flawless and unpredictable.
Only such a level could make the spear’s trajectory utterly invisible to him.
A mere guard—yet he possessed such power.
At that moment, Black Wolf’s awe of the Wei Family Residence reached its absolute zenith.
“Black Wolf,” the Yin Yue Wei said coldly, “don’t think your deeds are hidden from the world.”
“You’ve built a fortress in the mountains beyond the city, kidnapped women, forced innocent girls into prostitution, and terrorized the countryside. Do you truly believe no one knows?”
“Kuai Hua Village?”
Black Wolf’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He never imagined that such a small, unremarkable village—so insignificant it barely registered—was the root of his downfall.
The Wei Family… was paying attention to this?
“Sir, it’s not like that—”
Black Wolf tried to explain, but the Yin Yue Wei cut him off without pause.
“House Master has grown displeased with Kuai Hua Village. It has been erased. But you, Black Wolf Gang, cannot go unpunished. This strike was merely a warning. If you do not learn restraint, then your gang will no longer have any place in this world.”
The House Master himself took notice?!
Black Wolf’s blood ran cold.
But before he could utter another word, the Yin Yue Wei turned their horses and strode calmly back the way they came, leaving the fallen deputies behind without so much as a glance.
They had come suddenly.
They had left just as swiftly.
Yet the shock they left behind was immense.
One guard, with a single stroke, had laid low every one of the Black Wolf Gang’s deputies.
The depth of the Wei Family’s power was once again laid bare—terrifying, absolute.
For years, the Wei Family had shifted their focus to the provincial capital, allowing their presence in Cang County to fade into quiet obscurity.
This had emboldened many factions, who had begun to stir with ambition.
But the sudden appearance of the Yin Yue Wei had made it clear:
Cang County still belonged to the Wei Family.
As they looked at the injured deputies scattered across the ground, the onlookers felt pity—but far more, they felt grim satisfaction.
To defy the Wei Family, and worse, to provoke the House Master’s displeasure—
the Black Wolf Gang’s days in the city were numbered.
The other gangs from the western district glared at Black Wolf and his men with ill intent.
Some even entertained the thought: Why not finish them off now, while they’re down?
But the idea vanished as quickly as it came.
If even the Yin Yue Wei hadn’t killed them outright, then striking now would be a direct insult to the Wei Family.
After witnessing their might, no fool would dare provoke that kind of wrath.
Still, they couldn’t kill them—
but they could certainly reshape the balance of power.
The Black Wolf Gang had ruled the western district for too long.
It was time they gave up some of their gains.
The local factions began calculating how to profit from this moment.
Others, however, were focused on something else entirely.
“Immediately investigate Kuai Hua Village—what exactly happened there?”
Numerous factions issued the same order, without needing to confer.
Even in the County Magistrate’s office, a refined, middle-aged man with striking phoenix eyes gave the same command.
After his subordinate left, he turned his gaze toward a distant part of the city, his eyes gleaming with an unreadable light.
As County Magistrate, he should have been the highest authority in the county.
But the presence of the Wei Family had diminished his influence—something he had deliberately allowed.
After all, the Wei Family was not like other clans.
No ordinary family could rival them.
Not even one with a prestigious lineage.
Because the Wei Family still had a Xian Tian Jing Lao Zu—alive, and still revered.
“I’ll see just what it is,” he murmured softly, “that finally made you, who’ve always been silent, rise so boldly.”
Meanwhile, Xiao Tian had no idea of the drama unfolding in the city.
Having received the Wei Family Residence’s reply, he had ridden out immediately toward the Big Market.
He hadn’t known he’d missed a spectacle.
His fine horse, worn from the journey, had not had enough rest, so he didn’t push too hard.
By afternoon, he arrived back at the Big Market and handed the letter to Ma Gu.
Ma Gu tore open the envelope—and his face lit up with delight.
“Get ready. We’re going to Jiu Li Village!”
