Chapter 835: The Best Publicity
Chapter 835: The Best Publicity
Three tiny Sword Spirit gourd light clusters, two Sword Intent insights, and a fifth-grade True Sinister Sword Talisman—Lu Chen was satisfied with the results.
After tending to the remaining forty-plus maturing Green Sword Gourds with meticulous care, he returned to the courtyard.
He spent some time refining pills with ease, preparing ingredients for brewing Jade Purifying Spirit Dew and Icy Marrow Spirit Brew, before finally cultivating his arts and refining his treasures, including the Glazed Scarlet Phoenix Bone and the Five Viscera Treasury Temples.
The next day, Lu Chen arrived early at the Spirit Fields and, after inspecting them, took out a message talisman and imbued it with a message.
"Friend Lei, the Confucian Spirit Seedling you entrusted to me years ago has matured, and its quality is quite remarkable. Please come and collect it at your convenience."
The message talisman shot out like lightning, disappearing into the horizon in an instant.
The cultivator he contacted was named Lei Zheng, a cultivator at the early stage of the Golden Core realm, and also the owner of the Nine Confucian Treasure Trees.
Back when Lei Zheng was still at the Foundation Establishment realm, the two of them had ventured together into an ancient herb garden, and Lu Chen had formed a good impression of him, intending to befriend him.
Half a day later, as Lu Chen was conjuring spiritual rain in the spirit fields, a cold voice sounded from outside the cave abode.
"Friend Lu, I am Lei Zheng, here to pay you a visit."
Lu Chen's spiritual sense swept out, and he saw a young man standing outside the formation, his cheeks marked with dense thunder patterns and his ribs flanked by silvery-white wings wreathed in thunderous light.
"Friend Lei, it's good to finally have you here," Lu Chen said, his figure flashing as he appeared outside the cave abode to welcome Lei Zheng in.
The two men retired to the courtyard, where Lu Chen served spirit fruits and tea. With a thought, the branches, stems, and spirit fruits of the Nine Confucian Treasure Trees instantly appeared on the ground.
"Friend Lei, this is the mature Confucian Treasure Tree. Everything is here, please inspect it." Lu Chen said with a smile.
Lei Zheng's expression stirred as he gazed upon the multitude of treasure trees exuding rich scholarly aura, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
"There are so many?" He said, a little unsure.
"Indeed. I have some experience in cultivating spirit plants, so I was able to cultivate it quite successfully," Lu Chen replied.
"This spirit plant is called the Nine Confucian Treasure Tree, and it is a treasure trove for Confucian cultivators. Its branches and stems can be used to refine Confucian magical artifacts, and the spirit fruits it bears can greatly enhance the scholarly energy within a cultivator's body," Lu Chen explained in detail.
Lei Zheng's expression grew even more pleased, his eyes fixed intently on the multitude of treasure tree materials below.
"Thank you so much for your hard work, Friend Lu," Lei Zheng said.
"Here are thirty thousand low-grade spirit stones as a token of my gratitude for your help in cultivating this tree. Please forgive me for my meager means," Lei Zheng added, a little embarrassed.
"It's of no concern. This is already a very generous reward," Lu Chen smiled.
Lei Zheng was only a cultivator at the early Golden Core stage, and the fact that he could take out thirty thousand low-grade spirit stones showed his sincerity. Lu Chen had no complaints whatsoever.
Moreover, the greatest reward had already been reaped the moment he harvested the Nine Confucian Treasure Trees. These thirty thousand spirit stones were merely a bonus.
"Then, Friend Lu," Lei Zheng said after a moment's thought, "here are ten treasure tree leaves, which should be worth quite a few spirit stones. Please accept them as a token of my gratitude."
He plucked ten strange leaves exuding an ink-like fragrance and presented them to Lu Chen.
Lu Chen tried to refuse politely, but seeing Lei Zheng's insistence, he eventually accepted the leaves.
These leaves could be used for talisman making or as refining materials for magical artifacts, an unexpected but pleasant surprise.
After Lei Zheng carefully stored the treasure tree materials, the two men sat in the serene courtyard, chatting idly.
Decades passed, and Lei Zheng had almost forgotten about it. But now, Lu Chen had given him a delightful surprise.
The Nine Confucian Treasure Trees were invaluable, especially to Confucian cultivators in the Daxia Realm. They could exchange these treasures for a vast array of resources and spirit stones.
It was indeed a fortuitous opportunity.
Therefore, Lei Zheng felt endlessly grateful to Lu Chen, who had made this opportunity possible.
"Friend Lei, please refrain from praising me further. Your kind words might make me lose my humility," Lu Chen said with a light laugh.
"Your profound expertise in spirit plants deserves all the praise and more, Friend Lu," Lei Zheng replied sincerely.
"How about this..." Lu Chen's eyes lit up as an idea came to him, and he looked towards Lei Zheng, who was sitting across from him. "Would you mind if I spread the word about the Nine Confucian Treasure Trees?"
"If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could mention my name to other cultivators and spread the word about how I helped nurture these trees. The more people who know, the better."
"I don't mind at all," Lei Zheng said after a moment's thought.
Although this would expose the fact that he possessed rare treasure tree materials, the benefits Lu Chen could bring far outweighed the risks.
"But, if too many cultivators come to you for help in nurturing their spirit plants, won't it be too tiring for you?" Lei Zheng asked, concerned.
"Not at all," Lu Chen quickly denied. "It's a labor of love for me to watch the spirit plants I nurture grow and thrive. A little hardship is nothing compared to that joy."
"I can't help it; I'm just too passionate about those rare and exotic spirit plants," he added, further reinforcing his image as a spirit plant master.
"Very well, consider it done," Lei Zheng said, his expression turning solemn as he made a promise to Lu Chen.
"Thank you, Friend Lei," Lu Chen said, bowing his hands in gratitude.
Lei Zheng didn't stay in the cave abode for long. After a while, he took his leave.
"These Nine Confucian Treasure Trees will be the best form of publicity," Lu Chen mused.
"By offering a small price, cultivators can seek help from the most renowned spirit plant master in Liyang Realm to nurture their spirit plants, even if they have peculiar and rare varieties. They can achieve a bountiful harvest."
"For cultivators who possess extremely rare spirit seeds but lack the confidence or knowledge to nurture them successfully, the appeal is undeniable."
A smile played at the corners of Lu Chen's mouth.
"Rare spirit seeds, all drawn into my net."
"It's not about the light sphere rewards; it's just that I have a warm heart and enjoy helping others."
As Lu Chen turned to return to his cave abode, his spiritual sense suddenly detected a transmission talisman speeding towards him from the distance.
After a dozen or so breaths, the talisman arrived outside the cave abode.
Lu Chen's spiritual sense pulled it towards him, and he activated it.
"Friend Lu, things have been a little unsettled in the Star Cave lately. Please be cautious and take care of yourself," came the gentle voice of Qi Wuheng.
"It seems that the spatial barrier in one of the star caves has become unstable, allowing more and more extra-dimensional demons to infiltrate."
"Recently, when we organized a hunt for these demons, the cultivators of the Star Cave fell into an ambush. Several escorts were injured or killed, and over a dozen wandering cultivators perished, including three Golden Core Realized Ones."
