Chapter 833: The Battle at the River
Chapter 833: The Battle at the River
September 25, 2017
Lu HaiKong's current world is one where martial might reigns supreme, and even Lu HaiKong himself is considered a non-human existence, capable of being a superhero in his previous world.
However, no matter how powerful they are, when faced with the sheer force of nature, they appear fragile. Such overwhelming power is beyond human endurance.
As the massive reservoir was breached and the water dragon unleashed its torrent of stones, Lu HaiKong's camp was directly in its path.
No one expected such a situation, but this was the moment to test the mettle of the army and its commanders.
In this critical moment, the Bloodbath Legion demonstrated their elite status and the exceptional qualities of their top-tier generals.
Under the awe-inspiring might of the water dragon, the Bloodbath Legion was startled but maintained their composure. Lu HaiKong and the lower-level commanders in the camp quickly regained their senses and immediately ordered the Bloodbath Legion to retreat.
The Bloodbath Legion's response was swift, almost as if they had anticipated the flood. As soon as the water and stones began to pour down, they reacted, mounting their warhorses and swiftly retreating to higher ground.
"They reacted fast, but it was too late!"
The person on the mountain, witnessing Lu HaiKong's response, smirked and turned away.
He knew that even if he couldn't kill Lu HaiKong this time, he would at least give Lu HaiKong a lesson he'd never forget. It was best to leave and watch the spectacle, and who knows, maybe he'd get caught up in the excitement.
As he turned to leave, the water dragon, carrying stones and mud, rushed towards Lu HaiKong's camp.
The water dragon, with its torrent of stones and mud, slammed into Lu HaiKong's camp, destroying it. Lu HaiKong's heart trembled at the sight, despite the numerous Bloodbath Knights who had emerged from their tents. In this moment, those who hadn't escaped were likely sacrificed.
Hundreds of experienced Bloodbath Knights perished in the onslaught, causing Lu HaiKong's heart to ache.
As the water dragon continued its relentless assault, Lu HaiKong could only lead his remaining Bloodbath Knights to higher ground, hoping to spare them from further danger.
"Their reaction was quick, but even that wasn't enough!" Lu HaiKong thought.
In the face of such overwhelming natural force, Lu HaiKong knew he couldn't withstand it, even if he had the strength of a hundred or a thousand men.
Fortunately, this force of nature wasn't relentless. It followed the laws of gravity, giving Lu HaiKong and his army a chance to escape.
Lu HaiKong only needed to avoid the initial onslaught and then move to higher ground to perfectly dodge the water dragon's path.
However, even with this perfect evasion, Lu HaiKong's army suffered further losses. Some unfortunate knights were swept away by the water dragon.
Once the dust settled and Lu HaiKong's group was safe, he took stock of his remaining knights. His face darkened as he realized that out of his three thousand knights, nearly a thousand were missing. Currently, only about two thousand remained by his side.
As Lu Hai Kong witnessed the data, everyone could sense his seething anger.
The Bloody Knight, one of the three cavalry regiments under Lu Hai Kong's command, and also the most elite of the three, had suffered a devastating defeat, and Lu Hai Kong was deeply pained by the loss.
This was the first time the Bloody Regiment had faced such a massive casualty, and they hadn't even seen their enemy.
Lu Hai Kong's anger burned, directed both at the perpetrators and himself.
In his opinion, if he had been more cautious, this disaster could have been avoided. The situation was strange, and if he had been more careful in choosing their campsite, this wouldn't have happened.
But now that the incident had occurred, Lu Hai Kong's self-blame was futile. The most important task at hand was handling the current crisis.
After calming himself, Lu Hai Kong immediately summoned Yue Ying, ordering her to send her Ghost Shadows to search the mountains for suspicious individuals, and to capture them upon sight.
Meanwhile, Lu Hai Kong waited for the water to settle. After the landslide triggered by the surging lake, he dispatched men to recruit nearby farmers, while he initiated the rescue operation himself.
Despite the overwhelming flood, Lu Hai Kong firmly believed that many of his soldiers were still alive. If they could be rescued in time, they'd have a chance to survive.
So, Lu Hai Kong took charge, organizing the rescue operation from their original campsite.
As Lu Hai Kong coordinated the rescue, Yue Ying began her task.
In the mountains, Yue Ying searched meticulously.
To be honest, Yue Ying wasn't particularly skilled in this kind of search, but the target she sought wasn't large. She only needed to start from where the water reservoir had been breached.
Yue Ying swiftly arrived at the location, but by the time she got there, most of the perpetrators had already fled. However, there were still people around, about a hundred farmers with blank expressions, staring at the suddenly appearing Yue Ying.
Seeing these people with their tools in hand, Yue Ying's eyebrows rose, her face showing no change in expression, but giving off the aura of a terrifying demon.
In the following hours, Yue Ying was a demon to these hundred farmers.
With a wave of her hand, the Ghost Shadows emerged from the darkness, immediately controlling the hundred people. Then, Yue Ying began her interrogation.
Few could withstand Yue Ying's interrogation. Even Lu Hai Kong, witnessing Yue Ying's work, couldn't help but shudder. These farmers, having never seen such a sight, were terrified.
In their eyes, this overly beautiful woman was a devil.
Watching as Yue Ying tortured the farmers, one by one, driving them to the brink of mental collapse, a few of the originally honest farmers tried to escape.
But under the Ghost Shadows' watchful eyes, they couldn't get away. As soon as they made a move, they were controlled by the Ghost Shadows.
Hours later, as Yue Ying finished her interrogation, the hundred farmers had all gone to their designated places, and Yue Ying had obtained a clue.
He Dong Wei Family!
