Chapter 831: Fury of the Waves
Chapter 831: Fury of the Waves
Besides the golden warship descending from the sky, two more vessels appeared in the Grand Line’s vast waters.
Or rather, one ship and a raft.
The raft carried just one man and a pink-haired maiden whose parasol floated around her like a halo. The man wore a black top hat adorned with white fur trim, and a massive Black Blade strapped to his back like a cross. As he tilted his head up, his piercing yellow eyes glinted like a hawk’s.
Hawk-Eye—Dracule Mihawk!
The other vessel, sailing the Grand Line, bore crimson sails and a bow carved with twin sea serpents—living incarnations of the Kusnake Pirates!
Boa Hancock, the Snake Princess’s ship!
“Oh! Those auras!” Bartholomew bellowed, his pupils narrowing to slivers as his gruesome grin widened.
“This is it! This is it!”
He roared, “Come! Be the touchstone for my path to becoming the strongest!”
“Rwahahaha!!”
A diminutive figure tumbled onto the platform, cackling maniacally. “This is it! This is it! Fight, Bartholomew!!”
Scrambling upright, he clenched his fists and growled, “Roger single-handedly ignited the greatest ‘celebration’ the world’s ever seen. I lost then, but I won’t lose forever! After Roger’s ‘Great Pirate Era’ comes my new age—my new celebration! The Age of War!!”
He raised his arms, lost in ecstasy. “I’ll surpass Roger!”
Hiss!
A streak of Black Light circled his neck.
Festa’s eyes flew open, disbelief etched on his face. Dizziness overtook him, and he glimpsed Kuro behind him, his expression stormy.
Thud!
His head hit the ground.
Kuro glared at the severed head, flicked his blade Autumn Water to shake off the blood, and spat, “Surpass this, you idiot! If it weren’t for you, would Old Man’s fortress have been destroyed?!”
In an instant, Kuro had flashed across the battlefield and beheaded Festa—number one on his kill list.
Bartholomew’s rage erupted as he snapped his head toward him. “Kuro! You dare ignore me to strike down others?!”
He wasn’t mourning Festa’s death—he was furious Kuro had dared to disregard him.
“Worry about others?” Kuro snarled, baring his teeth. “Old Man emptied half the Navy’s power for you!”
“Seven Warlords of the Sea! The Seven Warlords are here too!!”
Below, pirates scrambled to flee as the Seven Warlords’ arrival—and Golden Lion’s warship—painted the truth too clearly for even the dimmest minds.
“Calm Step!”
A wisp of chaotic, pale-blue slash erupted through the pirates’ escape route, cutting down scores.
Klah flashed into the fray, his five fingers clawing through a charging pirate’s throat, slamming him into the ground.
But the pirates kept coming—more, and more.
“Too many!” Klah adjusted his glasses, preparing to strike again.
“Move aside!”
A five-meter-tall behemoth swung a greatsword down.
“Moonstep!”
Klah leapt, his feet touching air as he soared skyward.
The giant’s blade shattered the ground, leaving a crater of residual energy.
“Great Demon Blade Sam—94 million bounty.”
Klah identified the pirate below, then scanned his surroundings. Many here bore similar bounties. Alone, this would be grueling.
“Klah, quit loafing about up there! Get down here and help!”
Nearby, a circle of collapsed pirates formed around Lida. He sidestepped a hulking man’s punch without glancing back, then kicked the brute’s shin. With a Deng! the man crumpled like mud.
Klah’s eye twitched. He recognized that one—Iron Fist Bari, 86 million bounty.
Boom!
The island shuddered as two stone platforms soared from nowhere, lifting Lida and his comrades skyward.
“Kuro?” Lida glanced sideways. High above, Kuro stood arm raised, fingers slightly bent.
Boom! Boom!
The sea churned, boiling.
“Slow down,” Dracule Mihawk told the floating pink-haired girl beside him. “Girl, don’t rush in yet.”
Perona paused mid-drift. “Why?”
Mihawk eyed Kuro raising his arm atop the highest platform. “Kuro’s activating his ability. Stay clear.”
“Aww~” Perona blushed, tilting her head. “Are you… worried about me?”
“No,” Mihawk replied flatly. “Just a reminder. As a Devil Fruit user, you’d die. You wouldn’t even be able to mooch off others.”
To Mihawk, Perona was nothing but a freeloader.
“You—Hmph!” Perona huffed, turning away.
On the Kusnake Pirates’ ship, Boa Hancock lounged on her throne, legs crossed, watching the stormy sea. “Stay clear.”
She bit her thumb absently, her eyes darkening. “Cursed Golden Lion… what are you declaring?”
She recalled Kuro’s earlier threat. Was this a display of his strength?
Whoosh!
Crash!!!
The sea surged around the island, rising like a tidal dragon.
Pirates gazed up, trembling.
“What the hell is this?!” one screamed in despair.
A colossal shadow swallowed the island whole!
The tsunami roared—a wall of water writhing like dragons, wrath incarnate!
“Lucius Kro!”
A sandstorm spiraled into the sky, forming a familiar figure screaming, “Have you lost your mind!”
“Crocodile?” Kuro smirked. “You’re here too? How rare.”
Boom!
A series of air steps echoed as Rob Lucci ascended, his face grim as he stared at the dragon-like tsunami.
He’s serious now…
“Hey! I’m still here! I’m still here!!”
Something zipped through the air. Buggy, panicked, shouted at Kuro, “I’m a Seven Warlord of the Sea! Save me! I’m a Devil Fruit user—I’ll die if this hits!”
He could fly, but not far from his feet. This tsunami wouldn’t just drown him—it’d drag him to the seabed.
“Buggy, huh…”
Kuro glanced at him. A dirt platform zipped past, smashing into Buggy’s grounded legs and wrapping them in earth, lifting him skyward.
“Whoa!”
Buggy grimaced as pain twisted his face. Gritting his teeth, he lunged, using his long robe to snatch his officers midair, soaring upward.
“So…”
Kuro looked down at the pirates below, his fingers clenching.
Bang!
“Lion’s Might·Sea Whirl Hell!”
Not a single soul would escape!!
