Chapter 828: Why Are You Yelling So Loudly?
Chapter 828: Why Are You Yelling So Loudly?
Lida was idly fiddling with a gemstone from the treasure pile when she saw Kuro deep in thought. She sighed, “Here we go again.”
Klah nodded. “Mr. Kuro must have his eyes on those Iron Sands.”
True to their expectations, Kuro pouted dramatically from across the battlefield. “So scary~ They’re working together so well, I can’t even keep up!”
Lida: “......”
Klah: “......”
You’re lying!
You just said none of them were even decent before!
“He’s scared now!”
Feglie was the first to believe Kuro’s act. Kuro’s combat style had drastically changed from earlier. If Kuro had been effortlessly toying with them before, now he seemed genuinely strained.
First, Kuro’s own attack had noticeably slowed the enemy’s movements. Worse, the man seemed terrified of being struck again, refusing to engage in close combat.
In the end, they’d been careless back then. The Navy officer had only been stabbed because of their own negligence. He was a Zoan-type Devil Fruit user, blessed with extraordinary vitality. How could he possibly be intimidated?
Sure enough, now that they were fighting at full strength, the man’s weaknesses were exposed.
His swordsmanship might be decent, but his physical resilience was clearly inferior to theirs.
They could afford to lose countless battles, but this Navy officer only needed to lose once.
Feglie laughed heartily, “In the end, you’re just a kid! The Navy must be desperate if they promoted you this far!”
“Desperate indeed!”
Kuro readily agreed.
If the Navy actually had competent people, would he even be an Admiral candidate?!
If they’d sent someone with the talent of Gramps Sakazuki or Kuzan back in the day, wouldn’t he have faded into obscurity long ago?
Even now, at best he was just “a Navy officer with decent sword skills.” Unlike his current situation, he wouldn’t have suffered social humiliation once!
“Hahaha, we’re not that kind of kid!”
Luo Ci extended his Six Arms, his Iron Sands vibrating with a buzzing shockwave as he grinned. “Little brat, I was fighting Garp and Sengoku long before you were even born!”
“Where you were born doesn’t matter to me, but I know you ended up in prison afterward.”
Kuro slowly exhaled smoke, his expression gradually shifting from indifference to resentment. “If it weren’t for those Iron Sands, do you think I couldn’t take you on?!”
“Hahaha, little brat, the Grand Line is merciless. No one’s going to challenge you one-on-one!”
Luo Ci stuck out his tongue, licking his lips as his grin grew darker. “Why bother fighting you one at a time? The more you fear us, the harder we’ll come at you! Klah the Cyclops!!”
“I heard you!!”
Klah the Cyclops roared, spreading his arms wider as magnetic currents surged from his body, madly drawing iron particles from the island itself.
He’d seen it clearly—the Navy officer had dodged his technique earlier rather than clash head-on.
But how many dared to face his techniques directly?
Only Logia users would dare take his attacks full-force.
Long ago, he’d been defeated by Lucius Kro, even losing one eye to that man’s attack.
But if someone wasn’t a Logia type, no one would dare withstand his techniques!!
“Unforgivable!!!”
Seeing Klah’s movements, Kuro’s face instantly fell. Gripping his blade, he charged forward.
“You won’t do that!!”
Feglie and Luo Ci blocked Kuro’s path, one on each side, their grins turning sinister. “We’ll drag you down to death!!”
Luo Ci’s Six Arms spread outward, their slender forms encircling Kuro completely. Then, all six limbs began swinging in unison.
Within that deadly range, Feglie himself also attacked.
“Die!!” Feglie’s claw shot forward.
Clang!!
Kuro’s blade met Feglie’s claw, the recoil making his Autumn Water sword tremble violently. He quickly parried, twisting his body to evade a spider scythe’s slash. Seizing the opening, he slashed another incoming scythe.
But as Autumn Water struck the weapon, the Iron Sands coating it suddenly exploded outward like shrapnel, pelting Kuro.
Kuro’s fingers flicked slightly. The incoming Iron Sands hesitated for the briefest moment. That hesitation was all he needed to twist sideways, narrowly dodging the blast.
The confined space of the scythe’s arc—especially with Feglie also inside—made their attacks increasingly difficult to handle.
This struggle was visible.
From initially blocking attacks head-on to now avoiding direct clashes, what did that mean? It meant this man’s physical strength was nearly spent!
He could probably still escape, but if they let him flee now, it would be a loss for their pirate crew!
Defeating the Golden Lion would proclaim their return to the Grand Line—this was the only correct path!
Yet, no matter how fiercely they attacked, they couldn’t land a decisive blow. Kuro always narrowly evaded their techniques, making them increasingly frustrated. At one point, Luo Ci’s attack even hit Feglie instead.
Feglie hadn’t been paying attention, his Haki focused on his claws and teeth. If not for the Iron Sands protecting his body, that strike would have pierced him.
“Hey, what are you doing, Luo Ci!!” Feglie roared angrily. “You want to die?!”
Though Luo Ci had made a mistake, he showed no sign of yielding, shouting back, “Why are you yelling so loudly?! If you’d finish the Navy brat sooner, this wouldn’t have happened!”
“You two stop bickering!!”
Klah the Cyclops shouted from behind. “I’m almost ready! Focus on holding him down!!”
Around him, swirling Iron Sands formed a dark, almost barrier-like aura, saturating the battlefield.
This island had an unusually high concentration of Iron Sands—it might have once been an iron ore mine from some ancient continent. Though time had reduced it to mere Iron Sands, under Klah’s ability, they were nearly fully gathered. Once completely concentrated, Klah the Cyclops would unleash his terrifying power, letting this Navy officer—and everyone below—see just how fearsome the ‘One-Eyed’ Klah the Cyclops truly was!
Truthfully, the amount of Iron Sands he’d gathered was more than enough to deal with Kuro. But he had other ambitions. This opportunity was too rare. So many pirates were gathered here, including seasoned veterans like Feglie and Luo Ci. If he could defeat them all...
He could break through the current Four Emperors’ territory and finally challenge those from his own era!
“Is it ready already?!”
“It’s ready!!”
Klah’s face lit up. Palm raised, he concentrated the final massive cluster of Iron Sands from the earth before turning toward the battle. “Get out of the way! Let me show you my Iron Sand Thunder Lance!!”
Then he saw the two pirates frozen in shock, staring in disbelief at Kuro trapped within the spider limbs.
Because that last question... wasn’t from them. It was from Kuro.
“Alright then.”
Kuro bit his cigar casually, his voice calm. “Good. I waited long enough.”
