Chapter 827: Paradise Island (First Update)
Chapter 827: Paradise Island (First Update)
"But how can I trust that you’re not trying to gather the three Mother Boxes to open a portal and let Darkseid and his army invade this universe?"
Although Diana knew that her suspicion was highly unlikely, if the person were truly evil, they wouldn’t have helped Superman fight Zod and the other Kryptonians.
However, one can’t be too naive. The three Mother Boxes were divided and entrusted to three different races for a reason.
Is it really a good thing to bring them together again?
Jerry had anticipated Diana’s concerns and simply smiled.
"You don’t need to worry about that. If I really wanted to do that, I wouldn’t have waited until now. I could have obtained the three Mother Boxes at any time. The reason I asked you to take me to Paradise Island is a matter of courtesy and my principles."
Diana’s face clearly showed disbelief.
She knew Jerry was powerful, but Paradise Island was created with Zeus’s divine power. It could only be found if one knew the exact location, even with the most advanced technology.
"How do you prove it?"
"Well, let me take you back there."
Jerry reached out and placed his hand on Diana’s shoulder, using his mental abilities to pinpoint the location of the same source of power he had felt before, preparing to use Phantom Teleport.
Diana instantly understood what he meant from Jerry’s words.
Jerry had the ability to teleport, which had been reported in the news before, but she hadn’t expected that he could bring her along to Paradise Island.
"What’s wrong?"
Just as Diana took a deep breath, preparing to meet her people again, she saw Jerry suddenly withdraw his hand.
"Nothing, I forgot to pay. Wait a moment!"
Jerry took out two banknotes and placed them on the table, then put his hand back on Diana’s shoulder.
Diana was initially taken aback, but then a smile appeared on her face.
The details revealed a person’s character. A person so powerful who still respected and followed basic rules when dealing with ordinary people would undoubtedly have good character.
At this moment, she was already eighty to ninety percent convinced of Jerry’s integrity.
"Phantom Teleport!"
In an instant, the two of them vanished from the café, reappearing in a room completely enclosed by massive stones.
In the center of the room was a black cubic box, the Mother Box guarded by the Amazons.
"See, if I needed it, I could have teleported here and taken it!"
Jerry pointed at the Mother Box and shrugged.
Diana looked at the Mother Box and then examined the architectural features of the surrounding stones, immediately recognizing the Amazonian style.
"If this is truly Paradise Island, I will explain the situation to Queen Mother and allow you to take the Mother Box."
Walking to a hidden spot in the room, Diana turned a concealed mechanism, and a stone door slowly rose.
"Princess Diana! How did you get here?"
The Amazonian warriors, who had been startled by the rising stone door, were momentarily stunned to see their princess, who had been gone for over ninety years, appear behind it.
Since the establishment of Paradise Island, the Amazons had always guarded the Mother Box, believing that it would release demons when opened.
For nearly five thousand years, the Mother Box had remained dormant. Now, with the sudden opening of the stone door, how could they not be on high alert?
I never expected that the demon wouldn’t appear, and instead, the runaway princess would return home.
"Captain Phillips, this is a long story. Please take me to Mother first. I have something important to discuss with her.
Oh, this is my friend, Mr. Jerry Carmen."
Diana spoke to the lead female guard.
The captain glanced at Jerry behind Diana, her face showing a mix of caution and disgust. She then replied to Diana:
"Princess, please wait a moment. Queen Hippolyta should be on her way here."
As soon as the stone door moved, she had followed protocol and fired a signal arrow. According to the rules, Queen Hippolyta would personally lead an army to provide support.
When the first man appeared on Paradise Island, he not only brought war from the outside world but also kidnapped our noble princess. Now, the princess has finally returned, and she has brought another man with her.
This made all the Amazon warriors highly wary of Jerry.
Jerry, however, didn’t mind. For him, the only thing that mattered was getting the Mother Box.
Sure enough, in less than five minutes, Queen Hippolyta arrived with a large contingent of Amazon warriors, clad in armor and riding warhorses, at the massive building where the Mother Box was kept.
"Diana, my daughter!"
"Mother!"
The long-lost mother and daughter, reunited after more than ninety years, were both in tears.
After their emotions had settled, Diana told Queen Hippolyta about her experiences over the years and why she and Jerry were here today.
Jerry didn’t interrupt the mother-daughter reunion. Instead, he wandered around the island, under the watchful eyes of a few Amazon warriors.
To be honest, the scenery on Paradise Island was truly beautiful.
Untouched by modern industrial pollution, the island was a lush, vibrant natural landscape.
Combined with the unique architecture and culture of the Amazons, it had a charm of its own.
Having seen many highly advanced civilizations with their high-tech metal buildings and spaceships, Jerry found that this primitive and natural civilization offered him some new insights.
Sometimes, highly advanced technology might be a good thing for intelligent civilizations, but for the planet and the universe as a whole, it might not be.
Take Krypton, for example. The civilization was highly advanced, but it also destroyed its own planet and wreaked havoc on countless others during its peak.
If all planetary civilizations remained at a level similar to Paradise Island, what destruction could they possibly cause?
At worst, they might hunt more animals.
So, from the perspective of a universal creator, perhaps it’s sometimes necessary to limit the rapid development of planetary civilizations.
At this moment, Jerry suddenly understood why only Superman remained as the last Kryptonian.
Perhaps the universe didn’t want the Kryptonian civilization to continue developing and growing.
"It seems that a billion Kryptonians is the limit. For the long-term benefit of the universe, some restrictions are necessary."
Originally, Jerry had planned to form an army of a billion Kryptonians and then try to increase that number further. Now, he realized that wasn’t necessary.
Excessively increasing the number of Kryptonians wouldn’t be good for the universe. His focus should be on enhancing the power of the universe and his own body.
