Chapter 826: Wonder Woman (Second Update)
Chapter 826: Wonder Woman (Second Update)
"Got the first Mother Box. Should I go for the Amazons' next, or the Atlanteans'?"
Floating above Gotham, Jerry pondered for a moment before silently calling out a name:
"Diana Prince!"
He decided to find Wonder Woman first and have her accompany him to Themyscira to retrieve the Mother Box.
With his current strength, he could easily enter Themyscira and forcibly take the Mother Box; the Amazons wouldn't be able to stop him.
However, there was no need to do so. He was doing a good deed by collecting the three Mother Boxes to ensure the safety of Earth and the universe by dealing with Steppenwolf and Darkseid.
It would be foolish to end up looking like a villain and be hunted by a group of superheroes.
Even though all the superheroes on Earth combined were no match for him, and even the strongest, Superman, could be neutralized with Kryptonite, Jerry had a principle in both the Marvel and DC universes: avoid being a villain if possible, because these worlds are centered around superheroes.
No matter how powerful a villain is, they will eventually be defeated by superheroes in various mysterious ways, unless they are powerful enough to rival the creators of these worlds.
This was a lesson Ancient One had specifically warned him about in the Marvel universe.
If he insisted on collecting Earths from various universes, he would soon find himself embroiled in endless troubles created by the eternal beings.
Therefore, when dealing with superheroes, it's best to use negotiation and peaceful means to solve problems rather than resorting to violence.
Moreover, due to his previous efforts in stopping Zod's invasion, he now had a good reputation on Earth.
Natural History Museum, Washington.
Diana was painting a large statue with a brush when a female tour guide pushed open the door and called out to her:
"Diana, there's a handsome guy looking for you outside!"
"Looking for me? Did he say his name?"
Diana paused, a hint of confusion on her face.
Since killing Ares and ending World War I, she had been working at the Washington museum. She had changed identities a few times to avoid aging, but apart from the museum staff, she hadn't made any friends.
"No, but he said he wants to take you to some place called Themyscira. Is it a new boyfriend? No wonder you turned down the one I introduced you to last time."
The tour guide's face was full of playful teasing.
Themyscira sounded like a romantic getaway.
However, Diana's expression changed slightly upon hearing this. She jumped down from the scaffolding, set her brush aside, and smiled at the tour guide:
"It's not a boyfriend, maybe just an acquaintance. Where is he now?"
"He said he's waiting for you at the café across the street from the museum!"
The tour guide looked unconvinced.
Diana nodded, put on her coat, and quickly left the room.
The tour guide muttered to herself:
"Leaving so fast and saying it's not a boyfriend. Well, being beautiful has its perks, with so many handsome guys chasing after you."
"Miss Prince, over here!"
Jerry watched as Wonder Woman entered the café and waved to her.
Diana approached Jerry, sat down, and looked him over with interest:
"Sir, I don't seem to recognize you!"
"My name is Jerry Carmen. You can call me Jerry or Mr. Magic. If I change my appearance, you'll know who I am."
Jerry briefly introduced himself and then removed the Illusion from his face, revealing his true appearance.
Diana's pupils dilated when she saw Jerry's real face:
"So it's you!"
How could she not know Mr. Magic?
She had watched the entire battle in Metropolis on television, and later, she even visited the final battle site to see the massive crater left behind.
To be honest, even she was deeply impressed when she saw that crater.
"I wonder what brings Mr. Magic to seek out a mere museum curator like me?"
Diana's eyes twinkled as she asked with a smile.
Jerry smiled as well:
"Diana Prince, daughter of Zeus and the Amazon Queen, nearly five thousand years old. You lived on Themyscira until you met the American fighter pilot Steve Trevor during World War I.
After that, you left Themyscira with Steve to fight in the war, killed Ares, and prevented World War I. On the surface, you became a museum curator, but in secret, you became Wonder Woman, fighting evil in human society."
"How do you know all this!"
Diana's face showed a look of disbelief as she heard Jerry reveal her secrets one by one.
If he only knew she was Wonder Woman, that would be understandable, as she had left some traces over the years despite her efforts to keep her identity hidden.
But knowing she was Zeus's daughter and the secrets of Themyscira was truly surprising, as only the deceased Steve Trevor, besides herself, knew those things.
Jerry took a sip of his coffee:
"I am a Mage, a Mage with the ability to foresee the future, so I often see fragments of the past and future.
When the Kryptonians, including Zod, invaded Earth, I saw it in advance, which is why I joined forces with Clark to stop them."
"So, you're here to take me to Themyscira because you foresaw something?"
Diana was no longer the naive young woman who had just left Themyscira. After living in the human world for so many years, her intelligence had significantly improved.
She quickly began to speculate on why Jerry had come to see her.
"Yes, I foresaw a much greater disaster that will soon befall Earth, and not just Earth, but our entire universe might be destroyed.
The beginning of this disaster lies with the Mother Box held in a chamber of secrets on Themyscira!"
"Mother Box?"
Diana, who had not yet entered the temple, was still unfamiliar with the Mother Box and the invasion by Darkseid.
"Yes, the Mother Box. This story begins with an ancient battle."
Jerry then recounted the story of Darkseid's invasion and defeat, the division of the Mother Box into three parts, and the future invasion by Steppenwolf and Darkseid.
After listening, Diana thought for a moment:
"So, you want to gather the three Mother Boxes first and then use their combined power to strike back against Steppenwolf and his forces when they invade?"
"Yes, the Amazons are indeed stronger than individual humans, but you are not a match for Steppenwolf and his Parademons. If you don't act, you will lose the Mother Box and suffer heavy casualties."
Jerry nodded.
