Chapter 822: What a Spectacular Game!
Chapter 822: What a Spectacular Game!
The appearance of an aura meant Kuro was under surveillance—and recognized by its master.
Bartholomew!
As Kuro reached for the wooden chest, a black shadow suddenly streaked past him.
"Drop that treasure!"
The semi-transparent figure shimmered like feathers, lunging straight at Kuro's face with a powerful gust. Without looking, Kuro sidestepped and retaliated with a fierce kick.
Crack!
The blow landed squarely on the translucent entity, eliciting a muffled grunt as it solidified into visible form—a humanoid creature with bird-like plumage covering its back.
Kuro's kick sent it flying backward, rolling across the ground. Instantly, the feathers adorning its back vanished, revealing its true human form.
Klah immediately identified it. "Captain of the Monster's Head Pirates—'Near-God' Mcauley Warner, bounty two hundred and fifty-five million."
Despite his unremarkable figure and plain captain's hat, Warner dusted himself off with a sneer. "‘Heavenly King’ Gilgamesh? I expected a clueless fool with a fake wanted poster, but you've got some fight in you. Hand over the treasure—unless you want to die."
Kuro chuckled. "Three of you versus one of me? Why should I give it up?"
Warner grinned maliciously. "Anyone holding treasure becomes everyone's enemy. Quantity doesn't matter—you're already our common foe!"
"Spoken like a true pirate!" A dual-blade-wielding man with pale blue hair and earrings landed gracefully beside Warner. "So cough it up, Brother."
From the shadows emerged Feglie, dressed like an admiral, his voice venomous. "Hand it over, brat, and we'll spare your life."
Meanwhile, a seven-meter-tall crimson-skinned giant with twin horns approached, exhaling heavily toward Kuro.
A wiry man resembling a walkingstick insect cackled. "Beaten to the punch, huh?"
"Please surrender the treasure", came a noble voice from behind. Humphrey, the aristocratic pirate, approached with his crew, bowing mockingly. "A proper siege indeed."
Across the cliffside, 'One-Eyed' Klah the Cyclops stood silently on a tree trunk, observing the chaos.
A loudspeaker crackled. "Oh my! Mr. Gilgamesh has discovered the most coveted treasure chest, but now he's surrounded by rival pirates! What will he do?"
"Lemme join the fun?" Lida grinned eagerly.
Klah's eyes gleamed. Seven opponents—four rising pirate lords and three sixth-stage threats. Any could become his stepping stone.
Kuro? The navy-defector Feglie frowned, recalling a familiar name...
"Too late", Kuro interrupted. "Didn't you sense that raging aura below? The old man's determined to ruin your plans—so I'll just play along."
He tossed the weathered chest upward. All seven lunged—but only one caught it.
"Let me peek", Kuro said, opening the box. "Maybe it's got ‘intelligence’ or ‘courage’ written on paper? That'd be amusing."
Was this One Piece's treasure? Festa's spoils? Treasure Map? Kuro couldn't care less. If it was another map, he'd toss it back and watch them fight like rabid dogs.
"You want me to fight, Bartholomew? Think again. I'll just play."
"Hand it over!" The hotheaded Taut Luo Ke charged, followed by Luo Ci leaping like a mantis.
"Hold your fire!" Humphrey ordered. Gunmen raised weapons. Austin unleashed water blades. Feglie activated 'Shave'—his body becoming a blur. Mcauley Warner cloaked himself in earthen hues, vanishing.
Klah's long spear crackled with electricity. Then—
A bone-chilling killing intent crashed over the island.
Bang!
Taut Luo Ke staggered, his demon-bloodline instincts screaming. Austin's hands trembled uncontrollably. Humphrey sweated profusely. Luo Ci crouched like a cornered beast. Feglie's 'Shave' halted mid-motion, kicking up smoke. Klah's spear sparked wildly.
Near Kuro, Mcauley Warner reappeared, kneeling breathlessly. He met Kuro's gaze—those eyes razor-sharp with murder intent, colder than death itself.
"You—" Kuro murmured.
The killing intent intensified.
"Mimicry!" Warner vanished into the earth, reappearing yards away gasping. One misstep and he'd have died.
Kuro closed the chest, exhaling sharply. "What a spectacular game!"
No treasure map. No cryptic notes. Inside—
The Log Pose to Laugh Tale.
