Chapter 822: Phoenix Blood!
Chapter 822: Phoenix Blood!
In the evening, Ivan stepped out of the Headmaster's Office with a dark expression on his face.
Behind him, the grotesque Gargoyle slowly descended, emitting a series of dull thuds.
Glancing back at the tightly shut stone door, Ivan couldn't help but sigh. As he had anticipated, Dumbledore simply couldn't accept his ideals.
Or rather, he couldn't accept Ivan's use of the Name of Justice to gather a following, commit murder, and abuse Dark Magic...
Ivan was well aware of the numerous crimes he had committed. If he were to be tried in the Wizengamot, he would likely spend the rest of his life in Azkaban.
Dumbledore refrained from taking action in the Headmaster's Office, primarily because this was Hogwarts. Given their power, a confrontation here would cause immeasurable destruction.
Not to mention, it wasn't yet the Christmas Holidays, and the castle housed hundreds of students and faculty. If the magical fluctuations from their battle attracted attention and caused collateral damage, it would be disastrous.
This was not what Dumbledore wanted, nor was it what Ivan desired.
So, the duel was naturally postponed until the Christmas holiday, and they needed to find a place where they wouldn't be disturbed for the battle...
"What are you really thinking, Dumbledore?" Ivan walked slowly down the castle corridor, recalling their conversation in the Headmaster's Office. He felt a sense of unease.
Dumbledore had detailed Grindelwald's plans for world domination, going into great depth. This seemed highly unreasonable.
If he merely wanted to warn Ivan, there was no need to go to such lengths.
Was he not concerned that Ivan might one day replicate Grindelwald's actions and reignite the war between Muggles and Wizards?
Ivan furrowed his brow and then shifted his gaze to the two glass bottles in his left hand. These were the items Dumbledore had given him before he left the Headmaster's Office.
One of the bottles contained wisps of white smoke, and as a Legilimency Master, Ivan could easily recognize it as a Memory Thread, likely related to his father.
The other bottle was filled with a deep crimson liquid, and upon closer inspection, he could see it emitting a faint golden Lumos.
This was Phoenix Blood!
Initially, Ivan couldn't understand why this White Wizard would give him this. However, considering Dumbledore's words, it began to make sense.
Dumbledore was an extremely contradictory person. On one hand, he had witnessed the rise of Grindelwald and Voldemort and did not want the Wizarding World to see a third Dark Lord.
On the other hand, as Dumbledore himself had said, Ivan's talent was exceptional, making him the most likely candidate in centuries to bridge the gap between Wizards and Muggles.
Killing Ivan would mean cutting off the hope for change in the Wizarding World...
It was this internal conflict that likely led Dumbledore to give him this precious Phoenix Blood.
The message was clear: Dumbledore believed himself to be exceptionally powerful, far beyond Ivan's current capabilities. The Phoenix Blood was meant to level the playing field, making the battle more evenly matched rather than a one-sided slaughter.
"Quite confident, aren't you..." Ivan murmured gravely.
Since Dumbledore had met Notte and used magic to sift through his memories, it proved that the White Wizard knew Ivan had "easily" defeated Voldemort.
Under such a deterrent, Dumbledore still believed his strength needed further improvement. This confidence made Ivan somewhat uneasy, to the point where he even considered finding a place to hide. Perhaps in ten to fifteen days, Dumbledore would be dead on his own, and this fight wouldn't have to happen at all.
...
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. After that conversation, Ivan didn't waste a moment. He stayed up all night, dedicating all his energy to brewing the Bloodline Fusion Potion, not even taking the time to review the Memory Threads.
After all, the blood of magical creatures loses its activity over time, so the Bloodline Fusion Potion had to be completed within three days to ensure the best possible results from the blood fusion.
As for the Legendary Points still needed for the blood fusion, Ivan had already thought it through.
After the great battle that shook the Wizarding World, the Dementors who had fled were recaptured by the Aurors and were now under strict surveillance by a large number of elite Aurors.
However, with the entire Ministry of Magic under Ivan's control, he took advantage of the downtime needed for the potion to settle and made a trip to the Dementor holding area. He spent the entire night chasing the Dementors with the Unicorn Shadow, eventually convincing all of them to cooperate.
There was no other choice for the Dementors. First, they needed to preserve their lives, and second, there was nowhere else for them to go.
The Wizards of the British Wizarding World had lost patience with the Dementors' repeated rebellions, and many high-ranking officials were proposing the complete extermination of this evil species.
Their only savior, Voldemort, was now struggling to save himself. Moreover, the previous unfriendly collaboration had created some distance between them, so they couldn't count on him either.
At this point, Ivan's offer became their last lifeline.
While Ivan was persuading the Dementors, the long-absent notification in his mind sounded again.
[Quest: Dark Minions (Completed)
Mission Objective: Possess a Dementor army (216/100)
Mission Reward: Three Legendary Points (Awarded)]
"Unfortunately, there were no additional Legendary Points", Ivan said, slightly disappointed as he glanced at the Quest log. He had overachieved, but the reward didn't increase accordingly.
However, Ivan had previously tested this and quickly accepted the result. His goal was already achieved, and the Legendary Points in his System Bar had increased from four to seven, enough for the blood fusion.
Having accomplished his goal, Ivan had no intention of burning bridges. At dawn, he issued an order to Pierce, who was still resting in bed, to send people to transport all the prisoners from the cells.
The Dementors were overjoyed. Since their recapture by the Aurors, they had been locked in the depths underground, unable to obtain food for several days. Now, they could finally have a feast...
Seeing these ecstatic Dementors, Ivan couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing. These seemingly evil creatures were, in a way, overly simple and easy to deceive...
After a few casual instructions to the Aurors in charge of the watch, Ivan didn't linger at the Ministry of Magic. He returned to Hogwarts before dawn to complete the final step of brewing the potion.
