Chapter 821: You Can Come In (Part 2)
Chapter 821: You Can Come In (Part 2)
As the third-ranked Top Academy in the galaxy, the Beastmaster Alliance University is never short of training resources.
Qiao Sang had been attending the university for a few months and naturally knew about the specialized Training Hall designed for Fire Pet Beasts.
It was said that the hall contained multiple Training Systems suitable for Fire Pet Beasts, capable of helping them train in any aspect they needed.
However, it cost 20 credits per hour and required advance booking, which was mostly dominated by upperclassmen. Qiao Sang had thought 20 credits was too expensive, and Fangy had been making steady progress with daily training, so she hadn't made any reservations.
Little did she expect that by the end of the semester, her credits would still be largely unused.
During the first break in the afternoon.
Qiao Sang asked:
"Can the fire-type Training Room be adjusted according to the Beastmaster's requirements?"
Dorothy thought for a moment and replied, "I've heard that there are 108 different Training Systems inside. With so many, they should be able to meet the training needs of most Beastmasters."
She then looked at Qiao Sang, "Are you planning to bring Flame Kiru to try it out?"
Qiao Sang didn't deny it, "If there's a training method I want."
Dorothy sighed, "I guess you're the only one in our class who can afford that Training Room."
"This semester, I've seen everyone earn a lot of credits", Qiao Sang said.
The students at the Beastmaster Alliance University were acutely aware of the importance of credits from the moment they enrolled. They were either studying, training their familiars, or earning credits.
She remembered that many of her classmates had tried to get credits from her.
Even Dorothy had begged and promised to run errands and buy a month's worth of snacks in exchange for a single feather from Steel Treasure, which she then traded for 12 credits with a senior in the familiar genetics department.
As the only Steel Slash Giant Falcon in the Supernest, Steel Treasure was still highly sought after at the Beastmaster Alliance University.
"Credits don't last long at all", Dorothy complained. "It's hard to save any when you earn 1 credit in the morning and spend 3 in the afternoon. Even borrowing a book from the library requires credits, and those senior students will only give you information if you pay them."
"I know about the library, but are the senior students really that tough...?" Qiao Sang recalled the senior students she had dealt with during various missions and hesitated.
Dorothy gave Qiao Sang a resentful look, "If you were the one asking for information, they wouldn't charge you any credits."
Qiao Sang said instinctively, "Then why don't you just have me ask for you?"
Dorothy was taken aback, "You would?"
Qiao Sang smiled, "Why not? It's just a simple favor."
Dorothy's face lit up with gratitude, then she leaned in and whispered eagerly, "I heard that Gilbert Dean has lost several pounds because of you. He's said that if anyone can get you to stay at the Beastmaster Alliance University, he would give them a purebred Dragon-type Beast Companion egg. Can you check if this is true?"
Qiao Sang was silent for a moment, then stood up, "I'll go to the bathroom first."
Dorothy: "……"
……
After school.
Qiao Sang carried Fangy to the Fire Pet Beast Training Field, which was accessible to all students.
The building was several dozen meters tall.
The movable shell was constructed from an exposed steel frame, covered with a semi-transparent padding. This material provided absolute thermal insulation, ensuring that the heat inside did not affect the outside.
As Qiao Sang stepped inside, a slightly low, unfamiliar voice spoke beside her, "Isn't this Qiao Sang from the Beastmaster Program?"
"Ah, it really is Qiao Sang!" a pleasant female voice chimed in immediately.
The girl's voice was quite loud.
At the mention of "Qiao Sang", almost everyone around turned to look.
Qiao Sang turned her head and found that she did not recognize either of the two people.
One was a young man with brown hair and blue eyes, dressed in exquisite luxury clothing, and wearing a red earring.
The other was a red-haired girl with her hair in a bun, exuding youthful energy.
Seeing Qiao Sang turn around, the girl's eyes lit up, and she quickly approached, introducing herself with a friendly air, "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Tami, a second-year student in the Cultivation Program."
"I'm Camden, a fourth-year student in the Cultivation Program", the young man added as he walked over.
"Hello, I'm Qiao Sang from the Beastmaster Program", Qiao Sang introduced herself.
"I know", Tami said enthusiastically. "You're quite famous at our Cultivation Academy; everyone has heard of you."
After saying this, she glanced in the direction of Steel Treasure: "You're the first Beastmaster in history to achieve consecutive Bond Evolution with Steel Sparrow."
"And I heard from my teacher", Tami continued, her eyes brightening as if she were looking at a beloved familiar, "that your Flame Kiru is the first new form of its kind on Blue Star."
"Fangy", Flame Kiru proudly lifted its head.
Qiao Sang smiled, feigning modesty. She had heard this countless times before.
"Are you here to help Flame Kiru train?" Camden asked from the side.
Qiao Sang replied, "I'm here to make a reservation."
"Why didn't you just make the reservation through the school authorities?" Tami asked curiously.
"Because I wasn't sure if the Training Hall had the specific training program I need, so I wanted to come and check first", Qiao Sang explained.
The Beastmaster Alliance's official website did list the available training programs in the Training Hall, but the names of these programs were as cryptic as the dish names "Emerald White Jade Soup", "Gathering of Heroes", and "Farewell Kiss" from her previous life, making it hard to guess what they entailed.
"What kind of training are you interested in?" Tami asked.
As soon as she asked, she realized this might be a private matter. Many professional Beastmasters would clear the area when training their familiars, especially those with a reputation.
Before Qiao Sang could answer, Tami quickly explained, "Both Camden and I have fire-type pet beasts, so we often come here to train and are familiar with the available programs. We might know the one you're looking for."
Qiao Sang said straightforwardly, "I'm looking for a program that involves training in flames."
"You're probably referring to the 'Rebirth' program", Camden blurted out.
Qiao Sang was taken aback, "The program is called Rebirth?"
What does that have to do with training in flames?
Tami thought for a moment and said, "The name was given by a teacher from Dragon Nation. Apparently, there's a phrase in Dragon Nation called 'Rebirth in Flames,' so they named the program 'Rebirth.'"
Camden added, "I've tried this program. The familiar stands inside the training room, and the entire room suddenly ignites, roasting the familiar to increase its resistance to fire energy. Many students bring their non-fire-type familiars for this training as well."
He paused and continued, "The system continuously monitors the familiar's condition. If the familiar can't handle it, the training will stop automatically, so you don't need to worry too much."
Indeed, this is the project I was looking for... Qiao Sang glanced at Fangy.
"Ya!"
Fangy felt the concerned gaze of his Beastmaster and responded with a resolute call.
Qiao Sang sighed inwardly but smiled on the surface.
"Thank you all. This is the project I was looking for. I'll go register now."
With that, he stepped forward to find the registration desk.
Every Attributes Training Hall on the first floor has a dedicated teacher responsible for registration and scheduling. Since everyone was already here, there was no need to make an online reservation.
"Wait!" Tammy called out.
Qiao Sang stopped and turned to look at her.
Tammy said, "You might have to wait a while before your reservation comes up. I'll give you my slot. I'm not in the Beastmaster Program, so I don't need to rush my training."
Camden shot a puzzled look.
In his memory, Tammy didn't seem like such a generous person.
Qiao Sang hesitated, "That's not right."
He couldn't deny that he was tempted. His time in the Beastmaster Alliance was limited, and each reservation required waiting, so Fangy might not get many chances to train here.
In such a situation, saving time wherever possible was crucial.
Tammy saw Qiao Sang's hesitation and felt a surge of joy. She smiled, "Just use it with peace of mind. I came here to try out the projects and see what they can do for Fire Pet Beasts. I'm only in my second year, so I have plenty of time."
Qiao Sang, hearing this, stopped refusing, "Then I'll transfer the reservation credits to you."
"No need", Tammy waved her hands quickly. "I only booked an hour, which costs 20 credits. It's not much."
How could she get closer to Qiao Sang if she accepted the credits?
Twenty credits was considered a small amount, no wonder everyone said the Cultivation Department was a credit-heavy program... Qiao Sang felt a sense of warmth towards Tammy and said, "That's really kind of you."
This was exactly what Tammy was waiting for. She glanced eagerly at the direction of Steel Treasure and then looked back, stating her purpose, "How about you give me a feather from Steel Slash Giant Falcon to cover the credits?"
Lamden thought to himself, "That makes sense. This is the Tammy I know."
Qiao Sang: "..."
So she was after Steel Treasure's feathers. Last time, Dorothy traded a feather from Steel Treasure for 12 credits. This time, 20 credits plus saving the waiting time for the reservation didn't seem like a bad deal...
But soon, Steel Treasure would be participating in the Coordination Competition. Pulling a feather at this time might affect his performance in the first stage...
"Steel Slash."
Before Qiao Sang could finish his thought, Steel Treasure had already pulled out a feather and handed it over.
Qiao Sang: "!!!"
"Ya!"
Fangy looked at Steel Treasure with a "good buddy" expression.
Tammy was overjoyed, quickly taking the feather and carefully tucking it away. "I'll go with you to the registration desk right away!"
Qiao Sang: "...Alright."
It was done, so what else could he do?
The three of them headed to the registration desk.
Almost everyone who came here had pre-registered, so only a couple of people were in the queue.
Soon, it was Qiao Sang's turn.
Before Tammy could speak, the teacher at the registration desk said, "You want to exchange your reservation slot?"
Qiao Sang was taken aback but quickly realized the teacher must have overheard their conversation.
Tammy said, "You're very smart, teacher."
She then quickly took out her student card and handed it over.
Qiao Sang did the same.
"Your reservation is at 6:10 PM", the teacher said, taking the student card and operating the holographic screen on the desk. She then turned to Qiao Sang, knowingly asking, "For one hour. Which project do you want to train in?"
"Rebirth", Qiao Sang replied.
The teacher registered the information and handed back the student card. "Once a Training Room is available, we'll send you a text message."
Qiao Sang and Tammy took back their student cards and turned to leave.
At that moment, the teacher at the registration desk suddenly said with a serious tone, "Don't make such trades lightly in the future. Right now, a Steel Slash Falcon Feather is worth far more than 20 credits."
Tammy's body stiffened.
Qiao Sang turned around and politely smiled. "Thank you, teacher. I understand."
The value of the same item can vary greatly depending on the person. For Dorothy, credits were the most important, so she chose to trade. But to someone who didn't lack credits, a Steel Slash Falcon Feather was far more valuable than a few dozen credits.
With the teacher's words, Tammy felt considerably guilty. She quickly bid a simple farewell and pulled Camden away, afraid that Qiao Sang might change her mind and ask for the Steel Slash Falcon Feather back.
My credits have all been saved this way... Qiao Sang sighed inwardly as she headed to the Leisure Area to wait.
"Ya Ya!"
Fangy stretched and bounced around, diligently doing his warm-up exercises.
"If you can't handle it later, come out early", Qiao Sang said.
The Fire-type Training Hall allowed very few training activities for students, but they could observe their familiars' training through equipment and communicate with them in the Training Room, guiding and adjusting the training process in real time.
"Ya Ya!"
Fangy confidently chirped, indicating he wouldn't come out early.
Qiao Sang: "..."
I'm the one who's worried...
"Steel Slash."
During the wait, Steel Treasure didn't want to waste time and called out to the air.
"Xunxun~"
Treasure Seeker appeared, took off the Ring, and pulled out the Beast Care Oil to apply it to Steel Treasure.
Twenty minutes later, her mobile phone vibrated.
Qiao Sang took it out and read:
[Qiao Sang, hello. Your reservation time has arrived. Please bring your ID Card to Training Room 13 on the third floor.]
"Fangy, it's time", Qiao Sang said, putting away her mobile phone and standing up.
"Ya!"
Fangy looked excited.
You're going to be roasted by fire, and yet you look like you're going to enjoy it... Qiao Sang thought to herself, bending down to pick up Fangy and head to the third floor.
Soon, she arrived at the door of Training Room 13 on the third floor.
There was no one outside.
Qiao Sang knocked on the door.
After a moment, the door opened, and a Mechanical Pet with a black iron body, green eyes, and a large mouth came out.
It slowly opened its mouth.
At the same time, a mechanical voice seemed to come from its abdomen: "Please confirm your identity."
Qiao Sang hesitated, not sure what to do.
Then she remembered something and took out her student card, handing it over. "Here."
The mechanical voice said, "Please place it in my mouth."
Qiao Sang hesitated for a second before complying.
As she placed it in, a thought involuntarily flashed through her mind:
I wonder if Mechanical Pets salivate.
The Mechanical Pet closed its mouth, and its eyes began to rotate 360 degrees, as if it were malfunctioning.
After about five seconds, the Mechanical Pet opened its mouth, revealing the student card.
The mechanical voice from its abdomen said, "Identity confirmed."
Qiao Sang hesitated, then reached in to retrieve her student card.
When she noticed there was no liquid on it, she silently breathed a sigh of relief.
The Mechanical Pet stepped aside. "You may enter."
