Chapter 820: Crashing is Impossible
Chapter 820: Crashing is Impossible
"Let's go."
Kuro gripped the helm, steering the ship straight into the spiraling upward sea current. "Let's see what treasures are so dramatically hidden here."
Ascending Tidal Currents were perilous—many pirate crews before him had charged into these currents, only to plummet back down, their ships shattering upon impact. Either their luck ran out, or their steering failed.
But Kuro had no such troubles.
He merely gave the current the courtesy of pretending to be sucked into its vortex, skillfully keeping his ship gliding along the current's column, ascending at a steady pace.
Klah adjusted his glasses, standing calmly on the mast as the ship soared vertically. Lida, clinging effortlessly to the deck with her feet, showed no concern either.
"Wow, this is the Ascending Tidal Current? I've seen it before but never dared to ride it!" she exclaimed, pulling out a telescope. Through it, she spotted the island atop the current—a massive landmass encased in bubbles, crowned with a cliffside gleaming with golden light.
"Gold coins! Treasure!" Her eyes sparkled. "Kuro, I see gold coins!"
"Let me see."
Kuro peered through the telescope. Sure enough, a cluster of golden glints shimmered on the cliff. Surrounding an old sailboat were mounds of gold coins, gemstones, and luxury weapons. But amidst the treasure sat an incongruous Rusty Treasure Chest.
"Is that it? The 'treasure' everyone's after?" Kuro muttered.
He wasn't sure. Maybe it was a gimmick. If he were orchestrating this game...
No. He'd never waste treasure here. Only a fool would. But if he had to, he'd add a cruel twist—maybe a scrap of paper reading: "You've gained 'courage' and 'wisdom'!"
"A decent island", Kuro mused. "Nice scenery. Perfect for my Sky."
While others sought gold, he'd claim the entire island.
"We're here."
Lowering the telescope, Kuro guided the ship upward for the final surge. The vessel pierced the bubble barrier, plummeting toward the island.
"Oh!! The first crew to land has arrived! Let me check—it’s a pirate crew we’ve never seen before! Oh! They’re descending... but their landing spot seems to be—oh no! The ground below looks solid! They’ll crash!"
The host’s commentary boomed with excitement.
Crashing was impossible. Kuro was too clever, too skilled, too charming.
At the last moment, the ship decelerated, hovering inches above the ground before settling softly.
"The ship’s intact!"
"Unbelievable! This pirate crew must have miraculous abilities! Let’s zoom in. Breaking news: This is the famous 'Flying Rudder Pirate Group,' led by Captain Gilgamesh with a bounty of 300 million Belly! A rare Super Nova!"
Kuro’s face filled the screen—a slicked-back silhouette with a single strand of hair framing his Haki-auraed face.
To most pirates, the "Golden Lion" of the Navy was just a name. Few living pirates had met him, and none recognized him in disguise.
Few... but not none.
In a hidden chamber, a burly man crushed the rubble in his hand, lips curling into a bone-white grin.
"He’s here!"
Meanwhile, other ships crashed onto the island. Most crews perished, their ships shattered. A few strongmen survived, racing toward the cliffside. Some pirates formed alliances, targeting rivals first.
"Take that old insect down!"
A gang charged a wiry elder with stick-like limbs—Luo Ci, the Insect King.
"An old legend!" one recognized. "No matter why he's here, eliminating him gives us a better shot at the treasure!"
Luo Ci licked his lips. His arms stretched like scythes, sweeping the attackers aside.
"Give me more fun!"
He yanked his arms back, skewering remaining pirates like spears. Blood rained as he lifted them, grinning grotesquely.
"Outta my way!"
A booming roar echoed. Luo Ci flung his impaled victims backward, their bodies exploding midair. Through the crimson drizzle strode Taut Luo Ke—a seven-foot-tall behemoth, skin flushed red, horns budding on his head.
"Kid", Luo Ci chuckled, "you’ve got demon blood? I’ve never tasted a demon’s blood before. Let’s see how it tastes."
Taut Luo Ke roared, Sound Waves rippling the air.
