Chapter 82: Opening the Door to a New World
Chapter 82: Opening the Door to a New World
"It seems that our Confusion Technique isn't that much different from a regular Transformation Technique right now."
During the break, Gang Zitie couldn't help but sigh.
"Yeah, whether it's transforming into a monster or into someone else, it's not much different from a regular Transformation Technique when facing a skilled opponent," Kamitsuki Izumo nodded in agreement.
From the class practical to the grade practical, they had watched two of Tohu and Tom's battles.
From their perspective, Tohu had performed exceptionally well, creating a fake clone of Tom before playing a trick with a real and fake Tohu.
Even so, Tohu still failed to deceive Tom and was defeated quite easily.
"I still think we should follow my idea of creating a distracting clone that will attract attention, and then seize the opportunity to strike," Kamitsuki insisted that his idea was sound, but the monsters he transformed into were not scary enough.
"But you haven't even beaten Tohu yet," Gang refuted.
"But I beat you," Kamitsuki pointed out his victory over Gang.
"If you can beat Tom, then I'll agree that your idea is flawless," Gang tried to shift the topic to Tom.
But Kamitsuki had seen through Gang's thoughts and chuckled, "I beat you, and that's what matters."
"You got thrashed by Tohu," Gang retorted.
"I beat you," Kamitsuki attacked, hitting Gang's sore spot.
Gang couldn't hold back anymore, feeling that the final exam was a significant failure in his life.
"You two really don't understand at all." Ebisu, who was passing by, overheard their conversation and pushed up the bridge of his sunglasses with a single finger, looking disdainful. "Such a brilliant idea, wasted on transforming into monsters."
"Who are you...?" Gang scratched his head, confused.
"He's a senior from Group B, I think," Kamitsuki whispered.
Because of Ebisu's sunglasses, Kamitsuki had a vague impression of him.
"Senior, since you know that we don't understand, why don't you give us some guidance?" Gang felt that they could benefit from a collective discussion.
Gang took out a bag of potato chips and offered it to Ebisu.
Ebisu looked around for a while and, seeing that no one was particularly close to them, accepted the chips.
Ebisu sat down and gestured for Kamitsuki and Gang to come closer.
"Your idea is good. The most important thing about the Transformation Technique is to distract the enemy, but you shouldn't think about turning into a monster," Ebisu said to Kamitsuki.
"Instead of turning into a monster, why not transform into..." Ebisu lowered his voice, and Kamitsuki and Gang's eyes widened in surprise.
"Senior, are you a genius?" Gang asked admiringly.
He imagined the Confusion Technique that Ebisu had described, and he felt that he would definitely fall for it. What man could resist such temptation?
"I think this technique has great potential." Kamitsuki couldn't wait to develop it according to Ebisu's idea.
"Ahem, if you use this technique, don't say it was my idea," Ebisu glanced around cautiously.
Gang nodded. Then he asked, "Senior, what's your name? I'm Gang Zitie."
"I'm Kamitsuki Izumo," Kamitsuki introduced himself.
"Ebisu," Ebisu stood up and said without turning back.
Gang and Kamitsuki silently noted his name and saw him off with respectful gazes, grateful for his guidance.
"Starting from this week, there will be a strength test every week and a practical test every two weeks. Those who perform well in the tests will be promoted to a higher group for training," Mu Yue announced the upcoming arrangements for the special training sessions, including the exams.
In the end, Mu Yue couldn't resist trying to exploit a bug in the system.
He knew he had no influence over the number of exams at the Ninja School, but for this summer's special training, which was under his full authority, he could decide how often and in what form the exams would take place.
Although he had previously thought that this might not work, now that he had the ability to try, he still wanted to give it a shot.
After all, if it didn't work, it wouldn't make a difference, but if it did, it could bring about a huge benefit.
"What's the difference between the two tests?" Anko asked, curious about the distinction.
"The strength test will not require you to fight," Mu Yue explained, "Instead, it will assess your mastery of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and other skills through examinations. The practical test, on the other hand, will involve combat among group members, following the Ninja School's practical exam format."
With Mu Yue's explanation, Anko understood that the strength test would be similar to yesterday's grouping test, while the practical test would be a sparring session.
As Mu Yue finished explaining the arrangements, it was already time for the end of the class. Without further delay, Mu Yue announced the dismissal.
Just like the previous day, Mu Yue headed back to the main city area for lunch before making his way to the Southern Border Forest to teach his disciples.
However, after the disciples left, Mu Yue did not return to the main city. Instead, he continued his own cultivation.
"Done," Mu Yue said with satisfaction as he looked at the glowing chakra pill in his palm and the Rasengan technique, now marked as 'Proficient', in his skill panel.
Although he knew the process of cultivating the Rasengan and had achieved a skilled level in chakra shape manipulation, he had spent very little time on perfecting the Rasengan until now.
With his daily schedule of teaching classes, instructing his disciples, researching sealing techniques, and recently adding breath-based body tempering exercises, Mu Yue had his hands full. It was only after he completed all his other tasks that he turned his attention to mastering the Rasengan.
The reason he had given the Rasengan less priority was that it didn't offer much of a boost to his current strength.
The Rasengan consumed a significant amount of chakra. Despite appearing as a palm-sized chakra sphere, it was highly compressed and required a large amount of chakra to create.
For his current stage, the benefits of using the Rasengan were outweighed by those of other advanced ninjutsu.
Mu Yue's primary purpose in developing the Rasengan was to assist Minato with its creation in the future and have him owe a favor.
The inspiration for the Rasengan had come from the Tailed Beast Ball. Since Kushina wouldn't be using the Tailed Beast Ball against Minato, and considering the timeline, it was most likely that Minato would gain inspiration from witnessing a Tailed Beast during the Third Great Ninja War.
Therefore, it was safe to assume that Minato had not yet perfected the Rasengan.
Until he attained invincible power, Mu Yue wanted to have as many strong friends as possible.
Secondly, just because it wasn't useful now didn't mean it wouldn't be useful in the future.
Once he had an abundance of chakra and mastered Sage Mode, he could create Spiral Shuriken and develop Rasengan variations with different nature transformations. And if all else failed, it could still be a useful tool for rewarding his disciples.
