Chapter 815: Kryptonian Warship (Second Update)
Chapter 815: Kryptonian Warship (Second Update)
Half an hour later, Jerry and Clark were taken to the meeting place agreed upon by the human government and Zod—a vast, desolate area a hundred miles outside of Metropolis.
The area was already brimming with numerous combat units, including tanks, missiles, rocket launchers, fighter jets, and attack helicopters.
While the human government wanted to exchange Clark for peace, they were not naive enough to believe everything Zod and his fellow aliens said. They had also prepared for any potential battle in case Zod reneged on the deal.
However, when Jerry saw the array of advanced human weapons, he couldn't help but shake his head. He knew that the technological gap between the two civilizations was too vast.
As a civilization that had once conquered half the universe, the Kryptonians, even without any weapons, could easily destroy all the armed resistance with their own physical strength.
The purpose of the Kryptonians' deal with the human government was solely Clark.
Of course, if General Swanwick, the disguised Martian Manhunter, were to intervene, he could provide some resistance. But this guy was quite cautious; in the movie, Metropolis was almost destroyed before he finally took action.
It wasn't until Steppenwolf was defeated and Darkseid was about to personally descend upon Earth that he appeared and joined the Justice League.
"Here they come!"
Jerry and Clark both looked up.
A small black dot in the sky quickly grew larger, and soon, a beetle-shaped Kryptonian shuttle landed on the open ground in front of the human army's defense line.
Two Kryptonians, clad in black Kryptonian bio-armor, stepped out of the small shuttle.
The one in the lead, clearly a female Kryptonian by her build, opened her mechanical helmet to reveal an energy shield. She walked up to Clark, who was wearing the El Family Battle Suit, and sized him up.
"Kal-El, I am Deputy Commander Fiora El. I represent General Zod and welcome you. Please follow me."
With that, she turned and led the Kryptonian soldiers, armed with Kryptonian weapons, back toward the shuttle.
She didn't even spare a glance at the human army, treating them as if they didn't exist.
Clark glanced at Jerry, said nothing, and silently followed Fiora. Jerry also stepped forward and walked alongside Clark.
At the Kryptonian shuttle's boarding ramp, Fiora looked at Jerry standing next to Clark and furrowed her brow.
"Who are you? We only need Kal, not an Earth human."
"I'm Jerry, Kal's best friend on Earth. Kal asked me to come along. Earth humans like to do everything together, like smoking, drinking, peeing, and pooping. Don't you aliens do that too?"
Jerry shrugged and smiled.
Fiora turned to Clark.
Clark's lips twitched, and he nodded firmly.
"Yes, if you don't let Jerry accompany me, I will leave immediately. You should know that the human army can't do anything to me. I came to see Zod because I want to know what he intends to do."
"Humans are truly a weak species."
Fiora looked at Jerry with disdain and then heard a command from her battle suit. She turned back to Clark.
"General Zod says you can bring him."
In Fiora's mind, the Kryptonian system, where individuals are assigned specific social roles at birth and strictly adhere to their duties, was the most perfect societal structure.
The chaos and disorder on Earth, the lack of clear division of labor, and even the need for companions when using the toilet, are all signs of a low level of evolution.
"Really not funny."
Jerry shook his head inwardly and walked into the beetle-shaped Kryptonian shuttle with Clark, heading toward the massive Kryptonian warship in orbit.
"Put on this device; the air inside our ship isn't suitable for Earth humans."
During the journey from the shuttle to the warship, Fiora El handed Jerry an energy shield to wear on his head. Jerry, pretending to be an ordinary human, cooperated fully.
"Kal-El, you have no idea how long we've been looking for you!"
In the starship command center of the Kryptonian warship, General Zod, clad in Kryptonian battle armor, immediately broke into a bright smile when he saw Clark.
With Clark, he could find the Codex and resurrect Kryptonian civilization on Earth.
"You're Zod!"
Clark's mood was far from cheerful upon seeing Zod. This man was the one who had killed his father.
However, before they could exchange more than a few words, Clark suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed weakly on the ground.
"You're rejecting the air inside the ship. You've spent your entire life adapting to Earth's environment, but not to ours."
Zod immediately recognized the cause of Clark's weakness, his tone tinged with a hint of mockery.
At that moment, Jerry quickly removed the energy shield from his head and placed it on Clark's, allowing him to recover.
Although Jerry's body wasn't as strong as Clark's, it had been modified by magic power, enabling him to survive without breathing air, making him immune to environmental factors.
"You can actually adapt to our environment."
Seeing that Jerry was unharmed after removing the energy shield, Zod's face showed surprise.
Under normal circumstances, if an ordinary Earth human inhaled the air on their warship, they would likely die from internal bleeding within seconds, not remain unscathed like Jerry.
Jerry shrugged:
"Maybe I've always had a strong adaptive body!"
Zod: "????"
"What is your purpose on Earth?"
Clark, now fully recovered, questioned Zod.
Zod no longer dwelled on why a human like Jerry could adapt to the Kryptonian warship's environment. He turned to Clark and replied without hesitation.
"Krypton is already destroyed. We are the last Kryptonians in the universe. Jor-El entrusted you with the Codex, which contains all the genetic templates of our Kryptonian race. Hand it over to me now. I need it to rebuild Kryptonian civilization."
"How do you plan to rebuild Kryptonian civilization?"
Clark's face was filled with caution.
Zod pointed to Earth outside the warship:
"Destroy the civilization on this planet, transform it into Krypton, and use the Codex to regenerate a new generation of Kryptonians. Kal, you are a Kryptonian too, and you have a duty to help us rebuild Kryptonian civilization!"
"My father told me that Kryptonian civilization had taken a wrong path, that it was flawed and should not be rebuilt. Furthermore, I will not let you destroy Earth."
Clark remained unmoved by Zod's persuasion, his tone resolute.
"As foolish as your father. Since you won't cooperate, I'll have to force you to reveal the location of the Codex."
Zod's face darkened at Clark's response, and he prepared to order his subordinates to use force to make Clark hand over the Codex.
