Chapter 814: Negotiation (First Update)
Chapter 814: Negotiation (First Update)
After enjoying lunch prepared by Martha at the farm, Clark and Jerry flew off to the temporary combat command center outside Metropolis.
At this moment, Clark had donned the bio-suit from the Kryptonian scout ship, the one with the S-symbol and the cape, the Superman suit.
However, unlike the peculiar design with red underwear on the outside that Jerry was used to, this universe's Superman suit was much more normal.
Since this suit came from the highly advanced planet Krypton and was created by Jor-El, Clark's biological father and Krypton's greatest scientist, it was more than just a decorative piece.
Jerry activated the analysis Magic array in his eyes and scanned the suit, discovering that it was not only indestructible and highly resilient but also bulletproof, resistant to extreme heat, and capable of withstanding absolute zero temperatures.
While Superman is invulnerable to blades and bullets, incredibly strong, and even impervious to nuclear bombs, he has a weaker resistance to Magic energy.
The material of the Superman suit, however, can help Superman resist Magic attacks to some extent.
This is why, despite having powerful Magic abilities, Jerry remains cautious around Kryptonians like Zod.
Zod and others may not have suits as good as Superman's, but they are made from the same material and technology.
Of course, while these suits are formidable, they share a fatal weakness with Kryptonians: a simple scratch from a kryptonite shard can tear them apart.
Jerry doesn't have any kryptonite at the moment. If he had a kryptonite shard to analyze, he could use a transformation spell to create a large amount of kryptonite, making it incredibly easy to defeat Kryptonians.
Unfortunately, Earth currently has no kryptonite. In this universe, kryptonite is a byproduct of the Kryptonian World Engine, which is used to reshape planets.
The kryptonite that Batman and Luthor found in the Indian Ocean was a result of Zod using the Kryptonian World Engine to alter Earth.
As soon as Jerry and Clark appeared in the sky above the combat command center, they immediately drew everyone's attention.
Seeing the two men floating in the air without any support, all the weapons at the command center were activated and aimed at them, and the soldiers all wore expressions of disbelief.
A moment later, a black sedan, escorted by several military jeeps, pulled up in front of Jerry and Clark.
"Very well, you've successfully caught my attention. I want to know, which one of you is the Alien, or are both of you?"
General Swanwick stepped out of the car, looked at Jerry on the left, and then at Clark on the right, his face showing confusion.
Both men were floating in the air. The man on the left was wearing normal human clothing, but his appearance matched the description given by the Fbi agent of the person who took Lois.
The man on the right, however, was clearly not wearing what a normal Earth human would wear.
So, he couldn't tell which one was the Alien.
Seeing the base commander approach, Clark and Jerry slowly descended to the ground.
"I am Kal-El, the one Zod is looking for, and the Alien you seek. He is my human friend and not an Alien."
Clark introduced himself.
Jerry chimed in casually:
"Sure, I'm Jerry Carmen, a genuine Earthling and a magician from Gotham. What you saw just now was actually a magic trick. As for him, floating is an alien superpower."
General Swanwick's lips twitched involuntarily. He didn't believe for a second that what Jerry had done was some kind of magic trick.
If floating in the air was a magic trick, then holding fifteen elite Fbi agents in place and teleporting away with one of them must also have been a magic trick?
However, it was clearly not the time to question Jerry's identity. The twenty-four hours General Zod had mentioned were running out, and they needed to escort Kal-El, the alien, to the designated location to prevent a war.
"What do you want?"
General Swanwick looked at Clark with a serious expression.
Clark replied:
"I'm willing to surrender and won't resist, but you have to agree to two conditions."
"What conditions?"
General Swanwick's expression relaxed slightly.
If the other party was willing to surrender without resistance, then they were halfway to success.
Otherwise, if both of them could fly and one could teleport, it would be extremely difficult to detain them if they refused to surrender.
"First, you must ensure that Lois won't be troubled afterward, and drop the treason charges against her.
Second, I need my friend to come with me."
Clark said.
General Swanwick thought for a moment and then nodded in agreement. These two conditions didn't seem too harsh to him, especially compared to the peace of Earth, which made them seem trivial.
"No problem."
After agreeing to the terms, General Swanwick glanced at his adjutant, and soon a fully armed squad of soldiers approached Clark.
The lead Captain took out a pair of handcuffs and snapped them onto Clark's wrists. Clark shook his head but didn't resist.
To him, the handcuffs were no different from paper, but if it made the human general feel more at ease, he was willing to wear them.
After handcuffing Clark, the Captain took out a pair of gloves and tried to put them on Jerry.
Jerry, however, didn't have Clark's patience and snapped his fingers, turning the gloves into paper.
"I'm not an alien, and I haven't committed any crimes, so don't put handcuffs on me. You're maliciously depriving me of my freedom, and I'll find a lawyer to sue you."
Superman wanted to build a good relationship with the human government and gain their trust, but Jerry had no such need. Even if the entire human government issued a warrant for his arrest, it wouldn't affect him.
So, he had no reason to give these people any good face.
The Captain, holding the paper handcuffs, turned to General Swanwick with a puzzled look. General Swanwick's lips twitched, and he shook his head slightly.
He wasn't afraid of Jerry suing him; he had the President's backing, and this was for the safety of all humanity. Special circumstances called for special measures.
However, it wasn't the time to create additional complications, and the other party wasn't someone to be trifled with. If a conflict arose, it could affect the subsequent negotiations with General Zod.
Thus, on the way back to the main command center, Clark was handcuffed and held by the soldiers to prevent him from escaping, while Jerry strolled along as if he were returning home.
