Chapter 813: Clark's Decision (Second Update)
Chapter 813: Clark's Decision (Second Update)
Kansas, Smallville, Kent Farm.
"Mrs. Kent, is Clark here?"
Seeing Martha Kent open the door, Lois asked with a hint of urgency in her voice.
Upon seeing Jerry and Lois again, Martha's attitude was clearly different from the last time. She smiled and stepped aside.
"Oh, it's you two. Clark told me you're his friends. Come in and sit down. He went to the church to pray and should be back soon."
Lois glanced at Jerry, who nodded slightly, indicating that it was fine.
So, the two of them followed Martha's invitation and sat down on the living room sofa, sipping the freshly ground coffee Martha had made while chatting and waiting for Clark to return.
Compared to Lois's worry, Jerry seemed very relaxed.
First, he knew what choice Clark would make, and second, whatever choice Clark made wasn't that important to him.
In the end, they were still going to face off against Zod and the Kryptonians, and it would come down to power.
As for the human government's stance, he didn't care much about it.
Apart from him, in the battle between Clark and Zod, humans would play almost no role. Superman's willingness to put on the handcuffs and let the human army escort him to Zod was simply because he was too kind.
"Are those Fbi agents okay?"
Holding her coffee, Lois cautiously looked at Jerry.
"They've been permanently immobilized and won't be able to move for the rest of their lives."
Jerry said this with a serious face, then watched as Lois's expression turned to shock before he burst out laughing.
"Just kidding, I'm not some evil witch, and I don't like killing. They'll be back to normal in half an hour, no need to worry."
It was no wonder Lois and Clark were a pair. One was fearless, bursting with a sense of justice, and extremely principled, while the other was so kind that even if he knew it was a trap, he would still sacrifice himself to save humanity.
This was different from the pair of Batman of Gotham and Catwoman.
While they were all good people, their different backgrounds and growth environments led to different ways of handling situations.
"Jerry, can I ask where you learned your magic?"
Seeing that Jerry was joking, Lois let out a slight sigh of relief. She had already thought he wasn't a bad person; otherwise, he wouldn't have left his magic mirror with Clark when he foresaw a crisis for Earth.
But as a journalist, her instincts kicked in, and she couldn't help but ask after seeing Jerry use magic a few times.
Jerry sipped his coffee, thought for a moment, and replied:
"Well, I started at a school that teaches magic, then I did my own research and learned from many gods and other mages, which is how I gained my current strength."
This answer wasn't exactly a lie, as his general experience was true. The magic school was Hogwarts, the gods were the Aesir, and the other mages included the Ancient One, Barazier, and Culorido, among others.
"There's actually a magic school? Can you tell me where it is? Can ordinary people like us go there to learn magic?"
Lois's eyes lit up at this news.
Jerry smiled and shook his head.
"It's not in this universe, but in another one. Ordinary people can't attend, only children with special bloodline talents can be chosen."
"Not in this universe?"
Lois widened her eyes again. She felt that every time she talked with Jerry, she gained a lot of information beyond her imagination.
Gods, Mage schools, Aliens, and now even the universe is different.
"There are many, many universes, and we are just in one of them."
Jerry gave a simple explanation without going into too much detail.
Like the Marvel multiverse, the DC universe is also multiversal, with countless universes.
In the Justice League, when Steppenwolf wanted to return home, the powerful Witch, Desaad, mentioned that Steppenwolf had to help Darkseid conquer fifty thousand universes before he could return home.
"Creak~"
While Jerry and Lois were talking, Superman Clark also pushed open the door and walked into the house.
He first hugged his adoptive mother, Martha, and then sat down in the living room.
"Clark, you can't surrender to Zod. He definitely has a hidden agenda."
Seeing Clark appear, Lois immediately expressed her concerns.
From her interactions and understanding, she felt that Clark, this Alien, was too kind and might make an unwise decision.
Sure enough, upon hearing Lois's words, Clark smiled and shook his head.
"I know Zod has a hidden agenda. Even if I surrender, it might not prevent the war. Moreover, humans don't trust me yet, and I'm not sure if I should trust them.
But the priest's words were right. To gain someone's trust, you have to earn it first.
So, I've decided to earn the trust of humans by surrendering to Zod!"
"That would be too dangerous for you!"
Worry spread across Lois's face.
She agreed with Clark's reasoning, but she also knew that Zod was the Kryptonian general who had killed Clark's father and had come to Earth specifically to find Clark. There was no good intention behind his actions.
"Jerry, what do you think?"
Realizing she couldn't persuade Clark, Lois turned to Jerry, who had been silent the entire time.
Clark also looked at Jerry. Jerry's Magic had predicted the disaster, making it clear that he was a wise person. Clark wanted to hear Jerry's advice.
Seeing both of them looking at him, Jerry put down his coffee and replied:
"To be honest, I don't fully agree with Clark's decision. I know what the human government's top officials are like. They always want to control everything, and anything beyond their control is seen as a threat.
However, surrendering isn't a bad idea. It could be an opportunity to infiltrate Zod's ship and gather information. If there is real danger, I can teleport Clark back to Earth!"
Jerry's response made both Clark and Lois' eyes light up.
Right, they had forgotten that Jerry, the Mage, could teleport. If there was a conspiracy, they could escape first.
By agreeing to surrender, they could also show humans that Clark was not a dangerous Alien but a friendly one willing to sacrifice himself for Earth's peace.
"Thank you both for believing in and helping me!"
Looking at Jerry and Lois, Clark expressed his gratitude with the utmost sincerity.
In a world where no one trusted him, Lois was willing to risk treason to escape from the Fbi's pursuit, and Jerry, a Mage with no connection to him, was willing to risk entering the Kryptonian ship.
His heart was truly filled with gratitude and emotion.
