Chapter 811: The Dangerous Ore
Chapter 811: The Dangerous Ore
Sonia opened the conversation, enthusiastically sharing her expedition experiences with Lindsey.
The other two were also delighted to listen.
Before the expedition, no one knew what to expect or what their future held. Most of the journey was accompanied by desolation and silence.
It was during this time that Lindsey, a fellow from the civilized world, appeared.
The adventures and experiences during the expedition naturally flowed out as she recounted them to this newfound friend.
Especially when she spoke of the times they encountered crises and overcame them.
Sonia's vivid storytelling was filled with nostalgia, as if the scenes from their past adventures were reflected in her eyes.
During her storytelling, Sonia suddenly remembered a special situation they encountered in the previous two worlds, and her excitement waned:
"However, some things were strange and dangerous."
"In the previous two worlds, in a canyon that ran through the entire world, we encountered a batch of ore that could curse people's lives. We tried to solve the problem, but unfortunately—neither normal means nor Essence Cultivation Techniques could save our companion's life. In the end, we had no choice but to abandon that place and continue our expedition..."
Lindsey raised an eyebrow:
"Ore? Curse?"
His first thought was of the Corrupted Gold from the Moon Crying Ridge world, which could pollute and damage life due to its fusion with Corrupting Poison.
—This situation applied to these three expedition members.
Lindsey became uncertain.
After all, even if it wasn't a Deviator, it was uncertain if Abyssal Forces had even been born in this era.
Lindsey's silence made Sonia misunderstand his attitude.
The girl, unwilling to back down, turned to her companion:
"Andaphel, isn't that sample stored in the sealed box? Take it out and show it to Lindsey!"
The man of few words shook his head:
"That thing is dangerous."
Sonia spoke frankly:
"Anyway, we've tested it, and only prolonged contact will cause problems. We're all Awakened, with strong constitutions, so just looking at it won't be a problem."
Andaphel couldn't argue with Sonia.
He then took out a tightly sealed box from his luggage and handed it to Sonia. Just from their actions in passing the box, one could tell it was heavy and of high quality.
Sonia held the box and opened it for Lindsey to see.
A yellowish-green ore flashed in Lindsey's vision, and he felt a natural sense of discomfort.
It wasn't a curse, nor was it an infection of Essence power.
The white light of Clue revealed the true nature of this ore.
[Uranium Ore: Rare radioactive ore.]
Almost simultaneously, a task popped up in the Attribute Panel.
[Radiant Glow]
[Collect materials and successfully complete a nuclear fission experiment.]
[E=mc²]
"This ore, did you get it from the previous world?"
Lindsey didn't hide his interest, and Sonia immediately guessed and asked:
"Lindsey, are you interested in this? Do you know its origin?"
Lindsey nodded:
"This ore's effect on people isn't a curse, but a type of radiation..."
Lindsey seriously explained the concepts of atoms and radiation.
In this era, where scientific knowledge was non-existent, the expeditionary forces had already braved over a dozen perilous regions known as the "Unknown Dangers." The challenges they faced were countless and beyond imagination.
They quickly understood what Lindsey meant in his own way as they gathered around the campfire, brewing tea.
Andaphel, who was preparing tea over the campfire, sighed, "It seems that this ore is a disaster for ordinary people. And if one were to try to craft weapons or other items from it, it could lead to unforeseen dangers. It's probably best to seal off that mine we found earlier."
Sonia's gaze shifted to Lindsey, "Lindsey, why are you so interested in this ore?"
"Are you a Legion Leader or a ruler who advocates tyranny?" Lindsey asked.
Lindsey shook his head, "I just have some skills in crafting items and food. When I come across such rare ore, I naturally want to collect some for future use."
After answering, Lindsey turned to the expeditionary forces in front of him, "By the way, since you've reached the edge of the universe, what's your plan now? Are you heading back to your homeland?"
Sonia and Andaphel exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond.
Finally, the girl shook her head at Lindsey, "No, we don't plan to go back."
"We plan to establish a new home here at the edge of the universe and prepare for future adventurers who will come this way."
Their spirit of sacrifice and exploration was indeed admirable.
But Lindsey was more curious about the composition of the expeditionary forces, "Establish a home? Just the three of you?"
Sonia shook her head with a smile, "Our expedition team had 27 members who successfully reached this world. We three possess the skills of explorers, so we set out first to scout this area."
Lindsey nodded in understanding.
As their conversation drew to a close, Lindsey naturally wanted to learn from these expeditionary forces about a way out of their predicament, "Sonia, I have a question."
The girl immediately nodded, "Go ahead, I'll answer anything I know!"
Lindsey continued, "Since you've crossed so many worlds and dealt with various special situations, you must have corresponding solutions. What if you suddenly encounter a temporal anomaly? Can you resolve it?"
Lindsey's self-introduction already hinted at a background influenced by spatial anomalies, so this question wasn't out of place. But when he asked this, Sonia and the other two expedition members' expressions turned serious. They exchanged glances, and finally, Andaphel, the team leader, spoke up, "Lindsey, we have indeed encountered such a situation."
"But unfortunately, I must tell you that we don't have a solution for this phenomenon. At most, we can only escape that area by force."
Lindsey had casually asked, not expecting a real answer.
This clue might be the key to his escape, and his tone became serious, "You've really encountered a similar situation?"
Sonia nodded, "Yes, it was a very dangerous encounter."
Lindsey pressed, "Tell me, where is that place?"
Aland, who had mostly remained silent and had just brought back the box containing the uranium ore, spoke up, "It's in the canyon where we found this ore, just two worlds away."
