Chapter 810: Farewell (First Update)
Chapter 810: Farewell (First Update)
Chapter 810: Farewell (First Update)
In a room at the Gotham Royal Grand Hotel, Jerry suddenly appeared.
"Awkward!"
"Who are you?"
Catwoman and Bruce each wrapped themselves in a blanket and a sheet, respectively, and looked warily at the human form of Jerry who had just appeared in the room.
Jerry, however, sighed in resignation as he transformed back into his cat form.
"Really, isn't Wayne Manor big enough for your battles? Why are you fighting here?"
"It's Jerry! We didn't see you in the room when we got back, and we got a bit carried away... I didn't expect you to really be able to transform into a human like the Frog Prince in the fairy tale!"
Catwoman explained, her eyes wide with amazement.
Meanwhile, Bruce, wearing an awkward yet polite smile, quickly put his clothes back on.
He couldn't help it; things had gotten a bit out of hand.
Jerry shook his head.
"Alright, no need to rush. You can continue later. I just came to say goodbye. Things in Gotham are mostly under control, and I need to leave for a while. I'll be leaving the rest to you two."
With that, he tossed two pre-prepared Magic Mirrors to Catwoman and Bruce.
"If anything happens that you can't handle, use these mirrors to contact me. Just call my name, and I'll receive it if I'm on Earth."
With the situation in Gotham resolved, he had no reason to stay. His main purpose for returning was to say goodbye to Catwoman, as she was the person he had spent the most time with since his birth, and he did have some feelings for her.
Hearing that Jerry was leaving, Catwoman, still wrapped in her blanket, approached him with a look of reluctance on her face, a rare expression for her, given her carefree nature after resurrection.
"When will you be back?"
For Catwoman, Jerry was a special presence. He had been by her side since her resurrection, helping her take revenge and bringing her to Gotham. He never stopped her from stealing or partying at night.
Though they went their separate ways at night, they always talked when they returned to the hotel room. Jerry's departure meant losing a close friend.
"Can't say for sure, but I'll try to visit when I can."
Jerry hesitated for a moment before responding.
In truth, he might never return to Gotham. His purpose for coming here was to find red stars, and since Gotham offered no useful red stars, there was no reason to come back. His next targets were the Kryptonians and Darkseid, and neither Catwoman nor Batman could help much. They might even become a burden if things went wrong.
Catwoman and Batman were only slightly stronger than normal humans. In the movies, Batman's role wasn't about having incredible fighting skills but about gathering intelligence, using wealth to connect with other superpowered individuals, and excelling in combat strategy.
None of those skills were necessary or important for Jerry. He could create infinite wealth with his Magic, and his knowledge of the plot gave him more information than anyone. As for combat strategy, Jerry preferred to rely on brute strength, overpowering his opponents with sheer force.
In his future plans, Catwoman and Batman didn't need to be involved. They could stay in Gotham to fight ordinary criminals and punish corrupt businessmen, living safely and happily.
Who knows, maybe in a few years, they might even have a baby, fulfilling Alfred's wish.
Hearing that Jerry was leaving Gotham and would no longer continue killing, Bruce also let out a slight sigh of relief and then thanked him solemnly:
"Although I still do not agree with your methods, I have to admit that they were indeed very effective. So, on behalf of the people of Gotham, I sincerely thank you for your help to our city!"
During the past month and a half, Gotham had indeed seen rivers of blood, but all those who died were truly deserving of their fate. This had indeed transformed the entire city.
In principle, Bruce did not approve of Jerry's methods, but he had no way to stop Jerry. In his heart, he was still grateful for making Gotham a better place, as this had always been his lifelong wish.
This was similar to the famous German revenge shooting case, where the judge and police knew that the criminal deserved to die a thousand times over, but were bound by the law and their duties to release him.
However, when they saw the victim's mother pull out a gun in the courtroom and fire eight shots to kill the criminal, although they did not approve, they were secretly glad.
Even when the victim's mother finished shooting the criminal, the way they treated her was gentle and respectful, rather than the harsh treatment usually reserved for criminals.
"Take good care of Selina; in this world, no one is more suitable for you than she is."
Jerry nodded and advised.
The criminals in Gotham could never be completely eradicated, as many of them did not deserve death. Jerry had only killed those who truly deserved it, the ones with the blood of the innocent on their hands. Those who did not deserve death would eventually fill the void left by the fallen and continue to grow.
Given Bruce's character, he would continue to come out at night to fight crime to maintain the peace and beauty of Gotham.
Apart from someone like Catwoman, who also enjoyed roaming the night and was incredibly strong, no ordinary woman could accompany Bruce on his nightly patrols or endure the fear of her husband being away every night, always in danger of dying at the hands of a criminal.
Batman was different from Superman. Superman could resolve a crisis in the time it takes to use the bathroom, without interrupting his work or spending time with his girlfriend.
Moreover, Superman was practically invulnerable on Earth, with a very high safety index. At least his girlfriend Lois never had to worry about Superman being shot.
Batman, on the other hand, was just an ordinary person. He often returned from his missions battered and bruised, and there was always the possibility that he might not return from a mission. He could only operate at night.
Of course, this was also part of his greatness.
"I will!"
Bruce looked at Catwoman, a hint of happiness on his face.
Although he was known as a playboy and had many women, most of those relationships were to disguise his identity as Batman. When it came to the people he truly cared about, he was quite devoted.
Catwoman, in particular, possessed a unique charm that ordinary women lacked.
Most of the women in his life were drawn to his status as the leader of the Wayne family and his wealth, not to him personally, and they could not understand his inner thoughts.
Jerry, seeing this, was not overly concerned. Catwoman was not an ordinary woman; she and Bruce were equally matched. If they were to part ways, she would handle it with grace, so there was no need to worry.
He was just saying it.
"By the way, I have something for you two, a parting gift."
Just before leaving, Jerry remembered something and pulled out a pair of small sticks from the Bell Universe, handing one to Catwoman and one to Bruce.
