Chapter 81: The Handsome Guy at the Konoha Hospital
Chapter 81: The Handsome Guy at the Konoha Hospital
In the Land of Fire, within the hidden village of Konoha, the morning sun cast a warm and gentle glow, bathing the buildings in a golden light.
Sakura Haruno, up with the dawn, stepped out of her home, about to put on her shinobi sandals when her quick-as-a-flash mother grabbed her and thrust a warm bottle of milk into her hands, admonishing her as always:
"Sakura, you're at that crucial stage of growth. Remember to drink more milk in the mornings and stop buying snacks from outside. They're unhygienic."
"Yes, yes, I know, Mom," Sakura replied resignedly as she took the milk.
Seeing her mother about to launch into another lecture, Sakura quickly donned her sandals, called out, "I'm off to train!" and dashed out with a swish.
"That child," Sakura's mother shook her head, closing the front door.
The streets of Konoha were already bustling with activity. As Sakura made her way through the village, she couldn't help but sigh, thinking about how her parents had always kept a tight rein on her, restricting what she ate and drank.
"It would be nice to be free of their control, to do and eat whatever I want," she mused.
"But I bet Naruto and Sasuke don't feel the same way."
Sakura paused, her gaze falling on a house not far away—the house where Sasuke had once lived.
She recalled the night Sasuke had left, his resolute departure.
Taking a deep breath, Sakura clenched her fists and encouraged herself,
"Come on, Sakura! To take Sasuke back from Haku, you need to work harder than ever!
First step, complete the medical mission assigned by the Hokage and truly become her disciple!"
With renewed determination, Sakura took one last look at Sasuke's old home and quickened her pace toward the Konoha Hospital.
As the village's only large comprehensive hospital, the Konoha Hospital boasted the largest number of medical ninjas.
With the return of the legendary medical ninja, Tsunade, the hospital's medical system had undergone further refinement and improvement.
Coupled with increased funding from the village, the Konoha Hospital could be said to represent the pinnacle of medical ninja art in the entire shinobi world, attracting patients from far and wide.
When Sakura arrived, the outpatient hall was already bustling with patients waiting to be seen.
Medical ninjas and nurses in white coats moved among them, starting their daily clinics.
Though Sakura now wore a white coat too, she wasn't yet qualified to treat patients.
Her sole task at present was to struggle with the unfortunate fish in the laboratory, hoping to master medical ninja art as soon as possible.
"Hey, Sakura!"
Just as Sakura was about to begin her daily training, a slender, fair arm snaked around her neck, and a cheerful greeting sounded in her ear.
Sakura didn't need to look to know who it was.
"Ino, you're early today," she said.
"I have no choice," Ino Yamanaka replied with a laugh, her golden ponytail bobbing. "You're setting such a high bar for me."
Having heard that Sakura had started learning medical ninja art, her friend and longtime rival, Ino, decided to follow suit, thinking that if Sakura was doing it, she should too.
However, while Sakura possessed an exceptional talent for precise chakra control, Ino fell short in this regard, causing her progress to lag significantly behind Sakura's.
Though a bit disappointed, Ino's fighting spirit remained undimmed.
Especially since she had recently come across something that greatly improved her mood.
"Sakura, Sakura," Ino said, glancing around before tugging at Sakura's sleeve to signal that she wanted to whisper something.
Sakura rolled her eyes at Ino's words. She had thought Ino was going to tell her something important, but it turned out to be about a guy.
Then again, unlike Sakura's unwavering devotion to Sasuke, Ino had always been one to chase after handsome guys.
Even though Sasuke had been taken away by a villain named Huyi Xuanyue, Sakura's heart remained unchanged.
"You can keep the handsome guy to yourself, I need to focus on my training," Sakura said, about to leave Ino's playful side.
Ino quickly grabbed her hand, eager to share her discovery. "Come on, let's go take a look together. He's not just good-looking, he has an indescribable aura about him. Oh, and he's also a famous doctor at the hospital lately. I heard he's extremely skilled in medical ninjutsu. Sakura, since you're facing a challenge in your medical training, we can ask him for advice."
Hearing Ino rave about the handsome doctor's medical skills piqued Sakura's interest, but she still had her concerns. "Won't we be disturbing him?"
"Don't worry, he has a very nice personality," Ino assured her, patting her chest confidently.
With Ino's reassurance, Sakura let go of her doubts and decided to join her friend in meeting the handsome doctor she had been raving about.
"Doctor Cangjie!" Ino called out enthusiastically as they soon spotted their target in one of the hospital corridors, waving at him cheerfully.
"Cangjie" turned around.
Sakura finally got to see the face of the man who had captured Ino's heart.
Indeed, he was quite something.
However, for some strange reason, Sakura felt a sense of familiarity when she laid eyes on him for the first time.
She blinked, then looked again, more intently this time.
But this time, she didn't feel the same way as before.
"How odd," Sakura murmured.
Although she was puzzled, she didn't think much of it as Ino pulled her closer, attributing it to her imagination.
"Cangjie," the doctor nodded at Ino, who seemed to have become familiar with him after just a few meetings. Then he turned his gaze to Sakura.
'Is her observation skill that sharp, or is my acting that bad?' the "Cangjie" doctor thought to himself, noticing Sakura's earlier reaction.
Of course, "Cangjie" was not the real person; it was Huyi Xuanyue, using his face-changing technique to disguise himself.
After resolving the incident with the Craftsman Ninja Village, Huyi Xuanyue arrived in Konoha with a curious mind. Instead of causing chaos, he took the place of a secret agent from the Huyi Clan—a medical ninja working at the Konoha Hospital.
During this time, with a flawless identity, Huyi Xuanyue had accessed and studied numerous internal books on medical ninjutsu at the Konoha Hospital, gaining a wealth of knowledge while also showcasing his talents. This had earned him a significant influence within the hospital, granting him access to more medical secrets.
As for whether this increased his risk of exposure—Huyi Xuanyue had never intended to keep this identity a secret for long.
He wasn't a dedicated spy, nor did he have any experience in that field.
Disguise was a delicate art that required extensive experience to perfect.
Even with a flawless exterior, one's true nature could still shine through.
Just like how Sakura, who had only met him once, sensed that something was amiss.
But Huyi Xuanyue didn't mind.
He knew he couldn't maintain the disguise forever, but it would suffice for the duration of his activities.
