Chapter 81: Launch and Three Rivers Reflections
Chapter 81: Launch and Three Rivers Reflections
This is my first time launching a novel (not really).
And it’s my first time being featured in the Three Rivers section (also not really).
Anyway, I’m asking for your support and subscriptions. Please support the official release.
The launch time is at noon, 12:00 PM.
The launch time is at noon, 12:00 PM.
The launch time is at noon, 12:00 PM, and I’ll also shift the update times to 12:00 PM from now on.
Let me take this opportunity to share a few thoughts:
The performance of this book so far has been decent, but not stellar. My previous book had over 50,000 favorites at launch, while this one has a bit over 20,000.
Fairy Tail isn’t as popular as One Piece, and it’s definitely not as popular as Tom.
Of course, the main issue is probably with me.
My writing style is a bit unconventional. I’ve tried to blend daily life into action-packed stories with all three of my books. Honestly, it’s quite daring.
I’m a long-time Fairy Tail fan, but there aren’t many Fairy Tail fanfictions on this platform. I thought I’d give it a try, partly because there’s less competition in this niche.
Most Fairy Tail fanfictions focus on action, leveling up, fighting bosses, and maybe some romance. I decided to take a different approach and see if a daily life perspective could work in Fairy Tail.
There’s definitely growth and strength improvement, but it’s not as structured as other authors’ works.
In my previous book, I didn’t have much confidence in writing romance, so I avoided it to keep the story smooth. This time, I’m a bit more stubborn and started with a romantic subplot—just to try something new.
---
I’ll also take this chance to explain a couple of minor setting issues:
First, the Language Problem:
In the world of Fairy Tail, they speak a different language, not Japanese or English. The anime uses English and Japanese for the audience’s understanding. This is a classic and old-school time-travel setting, so there’s no need to overthink it.
When naming Poros, I considered that Poros represents "warmth, happiness, and love." So, Poros is named Warm (warmth), while Happy (happiness; joy) and Love (love) fit the Fairy Tail atmosphere perfectly.
(As for why the protagonist spent several days learning the language at the beginning... you get it if you get it.)
In short, any Chinese, English, or Japanese puns in the text can be seen as the result of translating the otherworldly language into something we can understand.
Second, Connection to the Previous Book:
There’s not much of a connection, except for the roommates, which is a small Easter egg. Maybe when I finish the story of the fourth roommate, I’ll write a short side story where the four of them meet and chat.
I haven’t decided what my next book will be yet.
Many readers have asked about Wendy from the previous book. She’s not the same Wendy in this book.
If you remember from the Dragon King Festival chapter, Fairy Tail has different timelines. For example, the ‘Future Lucy’ and ‘Future Rogue’ from the anime come from different timelines, so there are already three timelines.
The Wendy from the previous book and this one are from different timelines and don’t overlap.
Oh, and about the [Receiving Magic]:
This was decided early on, as detailed in the ending of Chapter 12 and the beginning of Chapter 13. I wanted to make the decision to learn this magic feel more natural, so I waited until after the mission with Natsu.
I hope it wasn’t too abrupt.
The original title for this book was "Daily Life in Fairy Tail," but I later thought "Fairy Tail: Receiving the Souls of Wild Monsters" was better. However, when I published the book, I impulsively decided to use "Fairy Tail: I Want to Summon Baron Nashor."
I didn’t realize how niche the name Baron Nashor is; it was my oversight.
I’m still considering changing the title at some point.
Feel free to suggest plot ideas, but I probably won’t follow them (haha).
It’s not arrogance; it’s self-awareness.
With my level of skill, I can only control my own ideas. I’m a nobody and can’t handle everyone’s creative ideas.
I want to thank my editor, Penglai.
When I wrote about Tom in the One Piece book, there wasn’t much of a hook at the beginning, and he tolerated my whims.
This time, I chose a relatively niche topic, Fairy Tail, with a not-so-impressive golden finger and a slow start, and he still tolerated my whims.
He’s so kind, it makes me cry.
(Does he know I praise him in every launch statement?)
---
Finally, I want to recommend a book by an old friend:
"I Strike as the Villain!"
"I Strike as the Villain!"
Being a villain is all about three things:
Stealing the protagonist’s opportunities, taking the protagonist’s place, and—giving the protagonist a green hat.
Written by ‘Pujie Tianxian,’ the author of the absurd partner stories. I was going to tease him about why the protagonist is named Lin Li again, but then I realized I sometimes write Rod as Zhang Da, so I understand him now.
He’s so clever!
---
And here’s a plug for my old book:
"One Piece: My First Partner is Tom Cat"
Whisper: There will be side stories.
The book launches at noon, 12:00 PM.
