Chapter 808: Superman's Steel Body (First Update)
Chapter 808: Superman's Steel Body (First Update)
At the entrance of the Daily Planet in Metropolis.
Jerry, in his human form, emitted a peculiar mental force from his eyes and asked the pretty female receptionist:
"Excuse me, is there a reporter named Clark Kent here? I need to speak with him."
"Clark? I'm sorry, we don't have a reporter named Clark here. You must have made a mistake."
The receptionist stood up without hesitation, her expression somewhat vacant.
Jerry thought for a moment and continued:
"Is there a reporter named Lois Lane here?"
"Miss Lois, she had an argument with the editor-in-chief two weeks ago and went on an assignment. I hear she's been in Kansas recently."
The receptionist's expression remained vacant, but her response was quick.
"Thank you, I see. Goodbye."
Jerry nodded and turned to leave the building.
As soon as he was gone, the receptionist snapped back to her senses, her face showing confusion.
"What just happened? Why did I tell a stranger so much about the company? Maybe he's just too handsome!"
"If he's not in Metropolis, he must still be in Kansas."
After leaving the Daily Planet, Jerry transformed back into his cat form, spread his two pairs of wings, and flew toward Kansas at supersonic speed.
After finishing his business in Gotham, he crossed the river to Metropolis, planning to confirm which DC universe he had been reborn in by finding Superman.
Initially, he intended to use the Name Location Technique to find Superman's exact position, but he found that Superman was constantly moving, making it impossible to pinpoint his location accurately.
The Name Location Technique uses a rule to directly locate the target's position, and one can follow the mental feeling to find the person. However, this method only works if the target isn't moving over a large area quickly.
Jerry's current strength hadn't fully recovered, and his flight speed couldn't match Superman's. If Superman was in the east, he would fly east, but before he could reach Superman, Superman would fly west, and he would have to turn and follow. This made the process very complicated.
So, he decided to wait for Superman at the office or at home, which would be easier and more efficient.
Superman's Earth name is Clark Kent, and his girlfriend is Lois Lane. Since Superman hadn't started working in Metropolis yet and Lois was on assignment in Kansas, Jerry had a rough idea of what was happening.
In Kansas, in the town of Smallville, at the Kent Farm.
Jerry transformed back into his human form and slowly approached the farmhouse, pressing the doorbell.
A moment later, the door opened, and a woman in her fifties appeared, looking puzzled.
"Sir, can I help you?"
"Mrs. Kent, hello. I'm looking for your son, Clark. Is he at home?"
Jerry smiled and asked.
Mrs. Kent shook her head, her face showing a hint of suspicion.
"Clark went on a trip a few months ago. Who are you?"
"I am—"
Jerry was about to answer when he was interrupted by the sound of brakes. He turned around to see a red car stop at the farm gate. A blonde beauty quickly got out and walked over.
"Mrs. Kent, I'm Lois Lane, a reporter from the Daily Planet. I want to talk to your son."
“Phew~”
Mrs. Kent sighed, glanced at Lois, and then looked at Jerry, repeating her previous answer.
Hearing that Clark was not there, Lois immediately started asking Mrs. Kent about Clark’s childhood. Mrs. Kent, however, seemed very wary and, claiming she wasn’t feeling well, closed the door.
Seeing Mrs. Kent shut the door, Lois turned to Jerry with her pen and notebook in hand.
“Mrs. Kent said you’re also here to find Clark. Did he save you at some point, or did something happen between you two? Could you tell me more about it?”
“Miss Lois, what happened between you and Clark? Why are you chasing him all the way to his home? Could you tell me first?”
Jerry didn’t answer immediately but instead used his mental powers to ask.
Under the influence of Jerry’s mental force, Lois immediately began to recount her experience.
It turned out that over a month ago, she had been invited by the Canadian government to report on a discovery at a base in the North Pole. The military believed it to be a Soviet submarine, but she had accidentally entered a massive alien spacecraft and was injured by the machines inside. Clark then appeared, saved her, and returned her to the base before leaving in the spacecraft.
Afterward, the military denied the existence of the spacecraft and prohibited her from reporting on the incident. When she returned to the Daily Planet, the editor-in-chief refused to publish her story about the alien spacecraft due to a lack of evidence.
So, she had secretly used her connections to gather clues about Clark, eventually leading her to his hometown, where she hoped to uncover the truth.
After listening to Lois’s account, Jerry finally had a clearer idea of which DC universe he was in.
Given the current Superman storyline, it was clear that this was the universe of the film "Man of Steel", which meant it was the cinematic version of the Justice League.
“It looks like my powers will be restored soon.”
Knowing he was in the universe of the cinematic Justice League, Jerry immediately thought of the Mother Box and the Anti-Life Equation on Earth’s surface.
These were two of the most powerful objects in this universe, containing boundless energy and nearly all the laws of the universe. If he could integrate and absorb them into the Bell Universe, his strength would undoubtedly be restored to a significant degree.
Although it wouldn’t make him as powerful as his main soul in the Marvel universe, it would at least bring him back to the strength of a newly ascended single-body universe level.
The Mother Box was the pinnacle of this universe’s technology, capable of performing interstellar teleportation and possessing endless energy. It could alter a region’s gravitational constant, sense danger and life, create force fields and electronic nets, and rearrange the molecular structure of matter.
This is why Superman could be resurrected. In scientific terms, the Mother Box has the power to restore the interactions between particles. If a house is burned down, the particles of the house still exist but have transformed into the particles of ash. The Mother Box’s ability to rearrange the molecular structure of matter can turn the ash particles back into house particles.
As for the Anti-Life Equation, it was an even more terrifying existence. Whoever mastered it could control the will of all life in the universe.
However, integrating these two objects into the Bell Universe wouldn’t be easy. He needed to regain some strength first; otherwise, even if he obtained them, he wouldn’t be able to control them.
