Chapter 807: Heading to Metropolis (Second Update)
Chapter 807: Heading to Metropolis (Second Update)
It has been three weeks since Bruce and Gordon's last attack on Jerry and his group. During these three weeks, it seems Bruce has come to some realization and has not tried to stop Jerry from killing.
Instead, Bruce has been using the Wayne Family's vast economic power to prevent the city's economy from collapsing due to the deaths of many important figures.
Now, all the criminal gangs in Gotham City have been forcibly disbanded, as most of the ruthless criminals have been eliminated, along with the key figures from the ancient families that backed these gangs.
Even many prominent government officials have not escaped the fate of being killed. The only ones who have remained unaffected are the ordinary citizens.
Each of the deceased had a confession on their body, and the killer has yet to be seen. As a result, the people of Gotham City have dubbed this series of events the "Divine Punishment."
The implication is that the sins of Gotham City have become so severe that even God has taken notice, sending divine beings to punish the wicked and send their souls to hell.
Only Batman, Bruce Wayne, knows that the one responsible for all this is actually a cat. However, the true identity of this cat might indeed be that of an unknown deity.
With the entire criminal network of Gotham City mercilessly destroyed, the city's crime rate has dropped to almost zero. Only minor thefts still occasionally occur.
The atmosphere in Gotham City has also changed significantly. More people are venturing out at night, and night markets, which were once impossible in Gotham, are slowly becoming a common sight.
Former gangsters who once wielded knives and guns are now mostly small vendors in these night markets.
"Amado, Animus, Animado, Animagus!"
In the hotel room, while Catwoman was out on a date with Batman, Jerry began to recite the Animagus transformation spell.
Moments later, his body, which was originally that of a cat, slowly transformed into the form of his main soul.
After three weeks of intense red star grinding, his strength had nearly reached the Celestial level, and he could now create a new human body for himself.
However, after careful consideration, he decided against it.
Although his current cat form was created through reproduction and refined by the Panel's owner using unknown methods, the integration between his soul fragment and the cat body was perfect, with no flaws.
If he were to create a human body and transfer his soul fragment from the cat body to the human body, the integration would not be as flawless.
While this would not significantly impact his power, he was concerned that it might draw the attention of the world's supreme creator, which would be troublesome.
To play it safe, he decided to retain his cat form in this world. After all, he had no plans to fall in love or get married here; he was merely exploring and enhancing his strength, so the form he took did not matter.
However, to facilitate certain actions in the future, he spent some time making modifications to the Animagus transformation spell.
The Animagus transformation is a highly complex and dangerous spell from the Harry Potter world, allowing one to completely transform into a common animal.
Mcgonagall often transformed into a cat, Sirius Black into a dog, and Peter Pettigrew into a rat, all using the Animagus transformation.
The standard Animagus transformation requires one to hold a leaf of mandrake root during a full moon for an entire month, then place it in a crystal vial filled with their own saliva and expose it to moonlight to absorb energy.
After absorbing the moonlight, add one of your own hairs and dew that has not been exposed to sunlight or humans for seven days. Finally, add the pupa of a Death's-Head Hawkmoth and hide it in a place that never sees sunlight.
When you encounter a night of thunder and rain, take out the crystal bottle and drink its contents, then recite the incantation to complete the Animagus transformation.
Any mistake in this process will result in failure and death. Moreover, if your mind is not strong enough during the first transformation, you might permanently turn into an animal and never revert.
Of course, with Jerry's current Magic strength, he doesn't need such a complicated process. Using his advanced Magic knowledge, he made some modifications to the Animagus transformation.
He doesn't need the complex steps or materials; he just needs to recite the incantation and activate his Magic power to transform from a cat to a human without affecting his ability to use Magic.
The only drawback is that the transformation relies entirely on the spell, and maintaining it consumes Magic power. Additionally, because he needs to focus on maintaining the transformation, his reaction time during battles might be slightly slower.
If he is attacked or injured, the fluctuation in Magic power might cause him to revert to his cat form.
So, if he encounters a powerful enemy, it's better to revert to his cat form to unleash his full strength.
After getting used to his human form for a bit, Jerry transformed back into a cat.
After all, when Catwoman returns and sees him in human form, it might be a bit awkward. Catwoman might not find it awkward, but Jerry would.
"The wool from Gotham is almost all picked clean. What should I do next?"
While Gotham is known as the city of crime, there are no particularly powerful individuals here, at least not in this universe and this time period.
Ordinary crimes no longer interest him. The red stars he earns from stopping a robbery and converting them into Magic power are not as much as what he can absorb on his own in the same amount of time.
Now, he needs to find either a major crisis that could destroy a city, preferably the entire Earth, to earn a significant amount of red stars.
Or, he needs to encounter something that can be absorbed into the Bell Universe to serve as nourishment and indirectly boost his strength.
For example, like the Dormammu fragment and the Celestial Ego he absorbed in the Marvel universe.
Of course, his current strength isn't enough to handle such powerful entities, but something similar but weaker that he can deal with would be ideal.
The main issue is that he can't yet determine which DC universe he has arrived in.
Like Marvel, DC has countless parallel universes, and the stories in different parallel universes vary. Compared to the Marvel universe, the information he can find in the Main World about the DC universe is much more confusing.
There are several versions of Batman, Catwoman, and Superman, and the movies, comics, and animations are all different.
Right now, the only version he is certain of is Catwoman's, but that version only has one movie and no follow-up.
As for the Batman version, it's still uncertain, but he knows that Bruce Wayne returned to Gotham a few years ago to become Batman and fight crime, gaining many admirers who emulate him.
His arch-nemesis, the Joker, also emerged during this period, challenging Batman and eventually being locked up in Arkham Asylum.
"Perhaps I should go to Metropolis. Although Superman hasn't appeared yet, he definitely exists. Finding him might help me determine which universe I'm in."
