Chapter 806: Hyberian's Merogath Form (Part 2)
Chapter 806: Hyberian's Merogath Form (Part 2)
"Planae, it's your turn to draw your reward."
Anthanasius pointed excitedly.
Cynora also leaned in curiously to see her brother's reward.
Planae retrieved the item from the light, which turned out to be a semi-transparent magic card engraved with skeletons.
【Skeleton Messenger】
Category: Summoning Card
Grade: Pink Sacred
Attribute: Undead/Scout
Rank: 8
Effect: Summons a clone possessing ten percent of your magic and strength, and a hundred percent of your stamina and spirit attributes. The clone perfectly mimics your magical aura and can be controlled through thoughts. The maximum distance from the clone to the main body cannot exceed 50 kilometers.
Note: Skeleton Lord Demongate believes that only living Demon Lords deserve to deal damage. Thus, when defeating the Skeleton Lord, one may discover that it might not be the real Skeleton Lord.
"…."
Planae's expression remained unchanged.
But Cynora could sense that her brother was delighted.
It seemed like he was silently expressing gratitude to this Demon Lord from tens of thousands of years ago, with whom he had briefly interacted in a different dimension for over ten days.
During their time in the Devil City of Nakalis, Planae and Anthanasius had interacted more with the other Demon Lords, while the introverted Cynora and the Ice and Snow Witch mostly kept to themselves.
Perhaps Planae had a good relationship with Skeleton Lord Demongate.
"Planae, promise me that this won't be the last time I see you."
Anthanasius, after examining the magic card, shifted her gaze from it and instructed Planae.
She suspected that from now on, Planae would only leave clones within their sight, never again revealing his true self.
"How could that be?"
Planae replied emotionlessly.
"Would you use a fake body to interact with me in the future?"
Cynora glanced at the card in Planae's hand, understanding Anthanasius' concern.
She seemed to be considering taking the card away from him.
"Can't you even recognize your own brother?"
As if anticipating his sister's thoughts, Planae directly bound and kept the card, thwarting her plan.
"Th-This…"
Cynora was momentarily speechless, taken aback by Planae's counter.
"Planae, your way of speaking is so Ranli-like! It's too much! You can't use Lanchi's logic against us! Our combined brains aren't as good as yours, and now you're using Lanchi's formulas!"
Anthanasius rebuked.
"They're so full of energy…"
The Ice and Snow Witch remarked as she observed the three old friends, speaking to Hiberlian.
The four of them, with a combined age of over two thousand years, had changed after not seeing each other for a century. The Ice and Snow Witch was certain that not only Anthanasius but even the aristocratic siblings, Planae and Cynora, had become more down-to-earth.
"There's no other way, teacher. They've completely immersed themselves in human society. Every day, they are influenced by the culture of Yikelite, and their thinking has gradually become more human-like. It's only natural that they would be different from before."
Hiberlian smiled and replied to the Ice and Snow Witch.
Having bid farewell to Mother Kaliyela from the Blood Moon Era and now having the Ice and Snow Witch as a motherly figure, Hiberlian felt enveloped by a constant sense of reassurance and happiness.
"If you stayed at Boss Cat's restaurant for a while, maybe you could relax and take a break from your heavy duties?"
Suddenly, Hiberrian suggested to the Ice Snow Witch.
She had always felt that the Ice Snow Witch worked like a mechanical doll, tirelessly and endlessly. Watching her made Hiberrian feel exhausted, yet the Ice Snow Witch herself seemed oblivious to fatigue.
"In theory, yes. If Florence were to take over the affairs of the Goddess of Fate in Ikelyte, I could take some time off. But Florence can't stay in Ikelyte forever,"
The Ice Snow Witch pondered for a moment before rejecting the idea.
"Besides, what would I even do there every day?"
She recalled that Anthanas, Cinora, and Pranay all worked at that restaurant, not just residing there but also being a part of it. Their daily lives, intertwined with their friends, brought them comfort and ease.
"Boss Cat's restaurant actually lacks a resident singer. I've heard that your singing voice is more enchanting than that of a sea nymph, yet I've never had the chance to hear you sing aloud,"
Hiberrian said, recalling what she had heard about the Ice Snow Witch's talents from the clergy when she first arrived at the Northern Continent's Goddess of Fate Church.
"Enchanting voices aren't necessarily good things..."
The Ice Snow Witch shook her head.
While her enchanting voice leaned more towards the gentle and soothing side, unlike that of the summoned Great Loving Poet, it could still potentially influence the minds of living beings. As a result, she often refrained from using it.
As they chatted, the Ice Snow Witch also noticed the glowing orb drawing closer to her, shimmering with a pink sacred aura.
Reaching out to touch the orb, the Ice Snow Witch instantly understood. Her reward differed from Anthanas and Cinora's equipment cards, as well as Pranay's summoning card. It was a spell card.
Mercury Mystique Body
Category: Spell Card
Grade: Pink Sacred
Attribute: Alchemy/Stealth
Rank: 8
Effect: Transforms one's body into a liquid state, significantly reducing physical damage and granting optical camouflage stealth effects.
Note: Mercury Lord Mishio just wants to slack off, so the best outcome would be to avoid combat altogether.
"Wow, Almythe, your card is amazing!"
Anthanas immediately chimed in, speaking to the Ice Snow Witch.
"Turning into a liquid state... that feels so weird..."
The Ice Snow Witch felt somewhat resistant to the idea of partially liquefying herself, but she also found it oddly compatible with her.
While the Mercury Lord did possess a unique beauty, in the context of human culture, the Mercury Lord resembled a humanoid slime too much.
"Hiberrian, how about I give this card to you once you reach the Eighth Tier?"
The Ice Snow Witch knew that Hiberrian's current deck primarily focused on survival skills.
She wanted to give Hiberrian the best things she could, be it items or cards.
"But I can't take this card from you, Almythe. I already got the promotion materials for the clerical tier from you, and you also personally crafted a set of holy survival spells for me to replace my basic cards. Now, I can't possibly take this natural Eighth-Tier sacred-grade magic card from you,"
Hiberrian hastily declined, feeling truly uneasy about taking any more of the Ice Snow Witch's belongings.
"Alright then, I'll use it myself."
The Ice Snow Witch retracted the card, deciding to use it herself.
In the upcoming days in Briliarda, if they encountered very unfavorable situations, or even the worst-case scenario of having to engage in combat, enhancing themselves with the power of the Mercury Lord would indeed be beneficial.
"Now, we're just waiting for your reward, Hiberrian."
Anthanas rubbed his hands together, anticipating the reveal.
Leaving the liminal space meant returning to the heart of the Kreighan Empire, its capital city of Briliarda. As Hiberrian's bodyguards, their upcoming espionage work in Briliarda might prove quite perilous.
In the short term, there wouldn't be any more of these buddy bus trips.
Yet, as long as they lived together with their friends, Anthanas was content every day.
Growing old together with friends mattered more than anything else.
"I basically played through an entire Shadow World this time, but I only completed one task of escorting Little Spark. I probably didn't contribute much, so getting a pink sacred-grade reward would already be impressive..."
Hiberrian speculated that she would likely receive a purple rare-grade or even a lower-grade reward.
Before she could finish her sentence, an orange radiance enveloped her.
She reached out, tentatively touching the glowing orb that sought her.
"Could it be an artifact? Or a prop? Or maybe a material?"
Hiberrian wondered, dispelling the peripheral layers of the orange mist.
As the orange haze dissipated, it seemed as if toxic vapors wafted forth, causing Hiberrian's hand to tremble involuntarily. She instinctively wanted to cast away this magic card that she couldn't control.
"Don't be afraid. The magic card won't hurt you; its power is just too strong for you to handle comfortably."
The Ice Snow Witch raised her hand, grasping Hiberrian's wrist. As frost covered Hiberrian's hand, the numbing sensation brought on by the magic card lessened, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.
She looked at the orange magic card again and noticed the imprints of a scorpion and a heart.
Melorias's Desecrated Sovereignty
Category: Spell Card
Grade: Orange Epic
Attribute: Poison/Enhancement
Tier: 7
Effect: Upon activation, the user enters a toxic state, with strength and stamina receiving an ultra-significant boost. Using Melorias's toxins may cause loss of cognitive functions and make the user more similar to her.
Note: While her love may be a bit abnormal, she does love you, at the very least.
"Yuck!"
After reading the card, Hiberrian reacted as if she had touched something filthy, wanting to toss it away.
She never thought that she would receive a genuine Epic-tier magic card as a reward, let alone a Seventh-rank Epic spell.
But then again, after their first Shadow World adventure together, she did see a Blood Moon Calamity series of Shadow World quests.
She was the only one who had accompanied Lanchi through all four Shadow Worlds.
So this was a cumulative reward, something that only the two of them who had accepted the initial quest could obtain. That was why, after completing this Shadow World, the reward had become an orange Epic-tier card.
"Why did I draw from the Melogarth card pool..."
Xioburi'an felt conflicted.
She would have been overjoyed to draw any Epic spell, but the fact that it was the Desecration King Melogarth made her a little scared.
"Melogarth has great compatibility with you. Tens of thousands of years ago, the two of you were probably blood relatives in your past lives, sharing a similar body structure and genes. That's why you can wield her power."
The Ice Snow Witch explained from the side.
She remembered that Xioburi'an had high poison resistance. Drinking alcohol was like drinking sparkling water to her, and she didn't easily lose consciousness.
If it had been anyone else using Melogarth's toxins to stimulate themselves, they might not have been able to resist the negative effects, which would have been akin to suicide.
They wouldn't have had the enhancement for long before they poisoned themselves to death.
"Anyway, Almis has already prepared the engraving materials for you. When we return to the real world, we'll go find Unity, the Allied agent in the Cambella Kingdom, and then we'll find a safe place for you to advance to the Seventh-rank. We'll protect you, so you can focus on engraving your class."
Shinローラ assured Xioburi'an.
Seeing that Xioburi'an's efforts had paid off, Shinローラ was also happy.
Not only was Melogarth powerful in terms of attack, but she was also incredibly durable. According to Lanchi's debrief after going to the Demon King's City, Melogarth hadn't been seriously injured even after being hit by Sigurei's attacks. She was far more terrifying than a Bishop-level opponent.
Shinローラ was just relieved that they hadn't tried to fight Desecration King Melogarth in the Demon King's City.
The four of them together might not have been able to defeat Melogarth, who had seemingly limitless vitality and a tendency to go berserk.
"Actually... the first three Shadow Worlds were also a breeze... but Lanchi always found a way for me to earn some contribution points..."
Xioburi'an mumbled, her cheeks reddening.
There had never been a protagonist like her, who had barely grown at all and had been carried by others from start to finish.
Lanchi had even said that she...
Oh.
She was crystal, so it was fine.
As long as she accepted her weaknesses, then she would be invincible.
In a sense, she was the lord; no matter win or lose, she would definitely be able to play until the end.
"Xioburi'an, Lanchi is one of a kind, a natural-born god who gradually became more human as he grew up. You two are truly a perfect match. You should let him have all the experience, and then he can give back to you, maximizing the benefits for both of you."
Antanas patted Xioburi'an's shoulder in praise.
"Xioburi'an, don't be careless."
Pranay muttered with a dazed look in his eyes.
He always felt that the chaos in the Krei Xi Empire was not that simple.
After returning from the Blood Moon Calamity era's Honing Empire, he noticed a clear contrast. He realized that the strength of the Honing Empire in the late Blood Moon Calamity era was actually far inferior to that of the current Krei Xi Empire, with its twelve military gods at their peak.
With the Third Patriarch, Duke Lashar, the Seventh Patriarch, Marquise Heritier, the Eighth Patriarch, Marquis Somerset, and the Ninth Patriarch, Marquis Bernhard, who had probably only awakened recently, even if things played out according to Lanchi's predicted timeline, the Blood Clan shouldn't have been able to gain complete control of the Krei Xi Empire so quickly.
"Mmm, I will make sure that everyone wins. That is my resolve as the Demon Princess."
Xioburi'an clenched her fist.
Lord and vassal, each with their own duties.
The Demon Princess had only one goal: to not get blown up, and to wait for her demon companions to tear down the enemy.
"You don't have a competitive personality, and that's truly a blessing."
The Ice Snow Witch comforted Xioburi'an, easing her psychological pressure.
Almis had to be grateful that Xioburi'an had inherited some of Iftiya's personality.
Otherwise, if the one who was supposed to be king liked to be a soldier and rush to the front to show off, that would have been a disaster.
In the current situation, Xioburi'an was like a little angel to them.
Xioburi'an nodded.
"This card should be used with caution."
Her gaze once again fell upon the orange-hued Melogarth Epic spell, shrouded in mist.
Xioburi'an didn't know if, after using Melogarth's toxins, her aura and magical power would become more similar to Melogarth's.
Fortunately, Caliera was no longer in the real world. Otherwise, if she had turned into Melogarth, she would have disgusted Caliera.
Back when they were at the Inferno Corridor Academy, whenever Melogarth was mentioned, Caliera's expression would change.
The five demons put away their Shadow World rewards and chatted for a while in the liminal space before arriving at the Void Gate that led back to the real world.
That morning, they had just arrived in the Krei Xi Empire's capital, Bliarda, and had not yet met Unity, the Allied spy from the Cambella Kingdom who was supposed to be their liaison. They had only met with Unity's subordinate and set a new time before heading to Bliarda's Void Gate and entering the Shadow World at nine o'clock sharp.
It seemed that Unity had some tasks she wanted to entrust to them, which weren't particularly urgent, but she needed their opinion on. So, Xioburi'an wanted to go back and report to the Allies as soon as possible.
"Let's go find Unity, the Allied agent."
With that, Xioburi'an led the way through the exit of the Void Gate.
